Community Tasks for Project CP
These following tasks are things that can be undertaken by anybody if they would like to lend a hand:
- Go to UDWiki:Projects and update the page by
Getting rid of the inactive/old projects- Thankyou Rorybob. 11:44, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Putting all projects that are still running under the "Old" heading- Even better, I found a Projects Archive page. 04:08, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Renewing the page by adding some new/still running projects.- 05:19, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- Brainstorm for a replacement section on the page (this conversation can be found below)
Update the last 6 months of history onto UDWiki:News, through the history of Template:Wiki News.06:54, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
Talk:Project CP begins below:
Just press the '+' at the top of the page to start a new topic, as always.
Necronet Replacement
What you need doing then? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:54, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- I would absolutely lurrve you if you thought up a new template to replace the Necronet news template? I can't think of anything to replace it. It could be a similar news template or just a section of content for the community. Any ideas are well appreciated =] DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 09:56, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Hm. What to replace it with though? I could run up some stuff.
How about replacing it with either
- A regular open discussion area. Topic set every 2 weeks etc?
- A place to brainstorm ideas for future projects?
--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 10:37, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds good. What do you think of a possibility for some sort of 'featured' thing? featured group, page, project or something to be changed every month? You never know how it might be recieved, dunno. The discussion area is a good idea. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 10:59, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hm. Featured thing/project fine. Group? less so. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 11:06, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well I might draft up a voting/nomination system thats easy to access for the community and see if it becomes accepted. In the meantime, I'll be asking around for other ideas, so keep the brainwaves going. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 11:45, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- There was some discussion about having a featured section on the main page, but i think CP is a much better place for it as there'd be wayy to many arbies cases over the content of it if it was on the front page.--xoxo 01:06, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- There wouldn't be arbitration cases over something if it were secured with a reliable and decisive voting system. However, I think there is more potential and less controversy for a community discussion forum on there, we just need to be able to figure out how to do it. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 03:42, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- People still get shitty about voting systems. Eg Boxy and ALiM voting. He didn't wanna take part (which is fine) but then he complained when stuff he didn't like got voted in. For these minorish sorts of things that only a handful of users are involved with that'll always be an issue however i think if its on the CP and not the main page people will be chill wid it.--xoxo 04:47, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- About 5 people vote on ALiM. I don't think there would be such an issue if there were 20-50 voters consistantly? DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 05:12, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- No of course not! But imho it's unrealistic to expect 20 to 50 people to be involved in this. Once it settles down you'd be lucky to get 5, that's just the way these things seem to work unfortunately. --xoxo 05:22, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- Not exactly. If this gets created in the right way and promoted responsibily as such, it will get the exact same crowd as those that destroy Category:Current Suggestions and those that vouch/against Sysop promotions. Because theoretically this could be a respected thing that represents the community that plays the game. Similar to Suggestions, etc. ALiM wasn't, and even if people like Box wanted to vote, they couldn't because of the association they would gain with the only merciless advertising project on the wiki. Then again, I don't know why I am arguing with you. I am supposed to be arguing against the featured page idea. Haha DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 06:25, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Something like this? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:25, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds good. What do you think the chances are of it staying on topic? I think the chances of having this community discussion forum is a good idea. But I am slightly scared it will become an anger fest like Developing Suggestions or just go off-topic. Nevertheless, I think its absolutely worth a try. We should try getting it on the main page after a few months. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 02:49, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Also, a real motive is needed, I think people will only contribute if they see their opinion going somewhere. So that may become an issue. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS)
- Do we really need a fappings heading on the CP page? I mean people, come on. --xoxo 05:21, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
