UDWiki talk:Be Bold

Is it really okay to just steal wikipedia's motto/page, and not even change the first line of "The Wikipedia community encourages users to..."?--Lachryma 23:11, 3 July 2007 (BST)

A bit too bold, eh? ;) --Toejam Edited Toejam 23:22, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
bold enough. :) This article is great, it encourages people to edit and contribute. I havent seen any reason for me to change the references to wikipedia. Any user who thinks otherwise, though, is welcome to be bold and edit this ranting. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 22:37, 21 September 2007 (BST)
I don't think it even matters. This page has been accessed only about 170 times.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:40, 21 September 2007 (BST)
That's bad :\ I'd like to see it being read by others. Perhaps if someone added it to the welcome newbie template... but i wonder how many actually read that bloody golden box. ... things to do: write UDWiki:A Guide for Newbie UDWiki Users. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 22:51, 21 September 2007 (BST)
Don't feel so glum, Hagnat. When shifting through the newbs, I spotted someone who said something along the lines of "I don't want to remove it just yet, theres some helpful stuff there." Normally I'd provide a link, but I completely forgot who it was.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 00:13, 22 September 2007 (BST)

The flipside to encouraging people to be bold is that as editors we have to be tolerant (eg not getting angry or being nasty) of the times when people mess up or do things differently from how the wiki normally operates. If some editor is thinking of doing an action that they are 90% sure will be beneficial to the wiki, but in their opinion there's a 10% chance of it being harmful, we need to not bite their head off if lady luck goes against them. This is of course good practice anyway. --Toejam 23:22, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
