My Story
Hi! Welcome to the Amos Building. See those wooden crates and smashed desks, the way they've got the entrance so securely and completely covered? My handiwork. Nigh impenetrable.
You'll notice that this building is lit. Every flourescent bulb is shining. Check your mobile phone. It works, doesn't it? I accept your gratitude.
I used to be a wanderer and regular old trenchcoater. Had a gunbelt, always several shotguns and pistols attached to my body somewhere. I drifted through Malton, shooting zombies wherever I could find them. Hooked up with the Kempsterbank Neighbourhood Watch for a while, but even they couldn't keep me for long. I just had to keep moving.
Last winter is a blur. I was undead for a while, following the groans wherever they would take me. Then, in March, someone revived me in Huntley Heights. At the time I had about eight fuel cans on my hands, and was so heavily encumbered that I couldn't pick up a thing-- not a pistol clip, not a shotgun shell, not nothing-- until I dropped some fuel.
Loathe to wast it, I started asking around. "Who needs fuel? Empty generator anywhere?" And a member of the 4-H directed me here. I joined up with Malton Telephone and made it my life's work to keep the Amos Building phone mast in good condition.
I find this life much more fulfilling than the old wandering. Something like a lighthouse keeper. Stay in the same place your whole life, protecting and maintaining an asset that allows everyone else to move about safely. There's a factory next door where I can find generators and fuel, so I never have to move farther than one block away from my beautiful Amos.
Enjoy your stay in Huntley Heights, and every time you use that mobile phone, please think of me.
