Arbitration Committee

Arbitration Committees are groups of three users who have both applied for arbitration and been accepted by the conflicted users.

Choosing A Committee

Arbitration Committees do not need to be unanimously approved by both sides but should be completely symmetrical, as such;

• If only one Arbitrator(Committee member) can be be agreed upon by both sides then each side will be allowed to put forth one that the other does not agree on with the final say going to the agreed upon arbitrator.

• If two Arbitrators can be agreed on, but not a third, then they will determine the third member of the Arbitration Committee.

• If no Arbitrators can be agreed on a Bureaucrat will be request to decide from those that have volunteered.

Who Can Arbitrate?

Arbitration is considered part of the Mediation Process and as such any user considered to be a neutral third party can put their hat in the ring as Arbitrators.

• Frequently users will be involved one way or another in a case and when they are they are not valid arbitrators.

• Sysops Can Not rule on cases in which they were involved(even as arbitrators), to do so will be considered Misconduct. Having a Sysop on an Arbitration Committee can be considered a conflict of interest for them if the case goes into appeals or one user decides not to agree with the Committee's decision. Arbitration is not Administration, and is not part of the Administrative Process.

• Arbitrators are expected to be well versed in the views of every portion of the community and to represent them equally in a case, as such it is required that you have at least 500 edits to be an Arbitrator.

• Bureaucrats can not serve as arbitrators due to their roles in the administration process, and the determining of committee members.
