My head still aches from the gunshot, but I plunge on regardless. Angrily I have teared at the barricades of this accursed city to no avail, remaining unable to reach the meat inside. I grow tired...but I cannot rest. I shall continue the hunt, seeking my sweet release that only death can bring to me.

November 25th, 2005

Ah, the taste of flesh. Sweet succulent blood trails down my throat as I tear and claw at the scientist who approaches, stabbing me with his strange machine held in hand. He thought he had the jump on me, but I grabbed ahold of him and began tearing away at his flesh with ease. Sadly the man was able to retreat before I could devour him...my hunger is not appeased. I must find more flesh!

(Dealt 14 damage to a Survivor.)

In my search for more flesh, a man leapt from the church and cut into me with a mighty axe. I can't feel my legs, though the tingling pain tells me that I will soon be able to move again. All I truly want is to rest...but the pain of the lust still drives me on. Soon I will rise and seek fresh victims in the well-populated church nearby.

(Suffered 51 points of damage, died thanks to a Survivor.)

November 26th, 2005

A foolish young woman, standing alone in the street. I might have laughed if I was not so quick to leap forward, bashing with deadly arms. Unfortunately she was lost in the small horde that was quickly growing outside the doors of the holy place, and my lust for flesh has gone unquenched.

(Dealt 8 damage to a Survivor.)

Another survivor ran into the horde of zombies, pleading for his death in short painful breaths. I have done what I can to ease his passing, but the other zombies tore into him before I could find some meat for myself...

(Dealt 4 damage to a Survivor.)

November 27th, 2005

During the hunt, a funny thing happened to me. I felt a sharp object pierce the back of my neck, my body went limp and I collapsed, a terrible pain convulsing through my body as the world went dark. When I awoke, adrenaline pumped through my veins as I stumbled to my feet, surrounded by the bodies of the dead and dying. A single zombie slowly turned around, and I realized where I was and what I was doing. Seizing one of the shotguns looped over my shoulder I fired, clipping him but not even slowing him down.

I swore as my self-preservation instinct kicked in and I did the only intelligent option available: I ran. My limbs ached as I ran, even my nonexistant medical knowledge told me that I was definitely running a fever. Despite that, once I reached the nearest Police Department I started to search for ammunition. The place was packed, so hopefully one of them can help heal the virus that has infected me. On the bright side, I found 3 shotgun shells and a clip of 9mm rounds.

(Suffered 21 damage from an infection.)

December 7th, 2005

Things have gone well since my revivification. I've stockpiled plenty of weapons, ammunition and recuperated the terrible wounds dealt to me by the evil plague. Already I've found my revenge in the form of a brain-rotted zombie, preventing the local scientists of Stanbury Village from reviving the fallen zombies. He was exceptionally tough, I put 3 shotgun shells into him before he slowed to a crawl, then finished him with a bullet from my pistol. I've started searching for more ammunition; I've heard through word of mouth that the zombie hordes at Caiger Mall were defeated and that survivors across all of Malton are prepared to launch a counterattack at Ridleybank, barely a 15 minute walk away. From what I'm told, Ridleybank is easily the most dangerous suburb in the city. I've got a feeling they could use my help, I'll probably load up on more ammunition for awhile, then head north to the Bunney Street PD, find a good safehouse and start striking out at Ridleybank.

(Dealt 28 damage to a zombie, killed it. Learned Free Running.)

December 9th, 2005

I've made my first foray into Ridleybank; the southern district is infested with massive numbers of zombies. I pumped enough lead into two to put them down and wounded another with my pistol. One of them managed to get a good whiff of me and started heading my way, but I escaped before he could cause any damage. I've started searching for more ammunition, hopefully I'll soon be able to start putting down entire packs and helping secure safehouses. Ridleybank is about to become a major warzone and I for one intend to win the battle.

(Dealt 40 damage to 3 zombies, killed two.)

I almost took down another zombie, but somebody else came along and finished the bastard before I could. I think my aim is improving, I've been landing more shots than usual.

(Dealt 35 damage to 1 zombie. Learned Pistol Training.)

December 11th, 2005

Zombies are literally starting to pour out of Ridleybank into Stanbury Village, I've already seen half a dozen breaking their way into buildings. I managed to put down a zombie chewing on a scientist in a nearby NecroTech village. I also saw another zombie wearing a Flak Jacket, poor bastard was probably somebody on the force. I put the rest of my bullets in him, but he wasn't quite finished coming at me. I retreated for the time being, somebody else will probably finish him off before long.

(Dealt 90 damage to 2 zombies, killed one and dumped the body. Learned Construction. Created Barricades with 6 items at the Allsop Arms.)

December 14th, 2005

The battle isn't going too well. Members of the Ridleybank Resistance Force are literally pouring out of Ridleybank into the northern border of Stanbury Village. The whole suburb has turned into a warzone and the various survivor organizations are having trouble slowing them down. I've heard unconfirmed reports of as many as 100 zombies in each quadrant of the suburb, we're outnumbered. With the conflict between Fazed and the Bunney Street Police Force heating up, it's becoming more difficult for me to use the BSPD and surrounding areas as my home base.

(Dealt 102 damage to 2 zombies, killed both and dumped both bodies. Learned Shotgun Training. Recreated Barricades at Allsop Arms and added 8 items.)

November 24th, 2005

A week of insanity has yet to end. What started into a routine warehouse fire became something entirely different. The blood and chaos threatens to consume what little is left of me, but I cannot give in. I've scrounged what little equipment I can find, but I fear that it won't be enough to keep me alive. At least Osmondville seems fairly peaceful and quiet compared to the hellish nightmare of Ridleybank.

November 25th, 2005

What was once 4 men hiding in the abandoned fire station has swelled to 9, most of them well armed and organized. I grip my axe tightly in anticipation of the terrors yet to come. So far all is quiet. I have searched the area around the fire station only to find no sign of zombie or survivor, but the bodies lying silent remain a constant threat. I hope that the virus does not take me, and that I find my brother or sister soon.

I stepped outside for a breather after a hard day's work to find a zombie lurching towards me. Taking up my axe, I managed to strike the beast twice before retreating to the safety of the Fire Station. Hopefully there isn't an impending horde coming our way...I do remember what happened to Ridleybank.

November 26th, 2005

Ouch.

I don't remember exactly what happened, but the bastard caught me sleeping.; I find myself watching through hazed eyes, standing and waiting for something. What is it I find myself waiting for? Only time can tell.

  • Diagnosis (The HP values of nearby survivors are displayed next to their name.)
  • Construction (Player is able to barricade buildings.)

November 25th, 2005

Though I am still young, my first day on the job has been exciting and dangerous. I had recieved orders that the NecroTech Corporation wanted as much information as possible on the zombie infection rampaging through the city. As a competant employee, I naturally leapt at the chance to do what I could; seizing a DNA extractor and running out the door, I was immediately confronted by the horde of Shearbank.

Quickly I made my way through the streets, choosing lone and weak-looking targets and even stopping at the Stickling Mall to see it one last time. Given the severity of the situation and the near supernatural power of scent the zombies possess, I quickly departed for the situation, flying northwest until I found a safehouse.

I have tagged no less than ten zombies for the cause without harm to myself, more than successful for a first day. If I keep this up, I may be promoted from an Assistant to a full Scientist; maybe with the training to use these Syringes, I will be able to stop the evil of this disease one zombie at a time!

November 26th, 2005

I got sloppy on the job and paid for it accordingly. As I finished examining a second zombie, a third appeared from nowhere, shambling towards me slowly. Confident of my abilities, I injected it with the extractor only to recieve an unusual error message: 'CORTEX DAMAGED.' Before I could think, it lurched towards me, slicing into me thrice with terrible clawed hands. Luckily I managed to escape before it could cause any more harm.

I've taken refuge in a hospital nearby, hopefully someone here can make sure the wounds aren't infected.

(Suffered 9 damage from a zombie.)

Somebody was kind enough to patch up my wounds, but the pain is mostly emotional. I cannot believe that such terrible creatures roam the city unchecked, killing at will. As a NecroTech employee I must do something to help. I've started reading my Field Surgeon's kit, learning about the NecroTech syringes that have been deployed. I have also started searching for Medical Supplies to make it easier.

Though some people believe that the answer to killing zombies is weapons, I must remember that these people were once human too. The answer will not lie in any amount of gunfire the military and police can give us, but instead in the ability of the scientists to develop a cure. I have thus made a solemn oath never to hurt another human, whether living or dead. I shall do what I can to ease the hurt in Malton with all of the power my knowledge and First Aid Kits can bring.

November 27th, 2005

I got sloppy and I paid for it naturally. Zombies are surrounding this empty building (the damn thing hasn't even been secured...) and I'm too tired to run for it. I helped patch up two wounded citizens back in Yagoton and scanned another 11 zombies for the other scientists to use. The only question becomes whether or not I can save myself from here...

(Healed 5HP apiece to 2 survivors.)

December 1st, 2005

The past few days have been hell. I barely escaped Brooke Hills with my life, zombies crawling out of the woodworks everywhere to fight me. When I made it back to Yagoton, I barely got back inside the hospital before this new 'barricade plan' of theirs was enacted. Can you believe somebody sealed up the entire hospital, not caring one bit about the half dozen survivors trapped outside?

I took up my newly assembled medical pack (complete with 11 First-Aid Kits!) and departed the barricades, ready to do my job as a NecroTech volunteer. I managed to help cure the infections of 6 different people and guide them towards a formerly abandoned club near the hospital. It had been left wide open, but three people were still trying to hide inside despite this. I used the last of my First-Aid Kits to help them.

I had been watching the Hospital staff work during the past few days and realized how simple it was to put up a barricade. Seizing chairs and wooden planks, I managed to quite strongly barricade the formerly wide open building. Hopefully the survivors trapped outside the hospital will be able to use this as a safehouse until the YRC and Abandoned get back on the job and start enforcing the barricades proper.

(Healed 55 HP, cured 6 infections. Learned Construction. Created and Added 6 items to Club Taniver Barricades.)

December 6th, 2005

I haven't had much time to update my journal lately, I've been too busy tending to the wounded and getting myself patched up as well. I was ambushed by a zombie outside the Police Department while on my way back from the Revivification Clinic, tending the wounded survivors within. Before I could escape, I was knocked out cold; when I awoke, I was lying outside the revivification clinic. I can only assume that I was infected and somebody found me and dealt with it. Thanks to whoever did so.

In the meantime, I've been working harder as a volunteer Nurse at the YRC, helping them in any way I can. I've helped cure the wounded and direct lost survivors towards the nearest safehouse. My studies on the NecroTech syringes are going well, soon I should be able to use them in the field without issue.

(Suffered 50 damage, died. Revived at St. Swithun's. Healed 50 HP, cured 3 infections. Learned Diagnosis.)

December 7th, 2005

I've started searching the local NecroTech offices for revivification syringes. I'm almost ready to start using them, but so far I've only found one full syringe. I helped bandage a badly wounded man outside a school earlier today, hopefully he'll be able to get away from the zombie pursuing him or at least be able to defend himself.

(Healed 25 HP, cured 1 infection.)

Ravenous Hunger

Timestamp: 21:23, 24 Nov 2005 (GMT)
Type: Zombie Skill
Scope: Improves Bite
Description: Requires the Vigour Mortis skill. Ravenous Hunger adds 1 point of damage to the zombie's bite attacks as the undead tear at flesh with extra viciousness. According to my calculations, this would by itself increase Teeth DPA to 1.0, and with Neck Lurch it would grant zombies a DPA of 1.5, on par with a Rend Flesh/Death Grip claw DPA of 1.5. Just a thought to make zombies a little more interesting.

Slam Barricades

Timestamp: 17:27, 2 Dec 2005 (GMT), Kulatu
Type: Skill
Scope: Zombies vs. Barricades
Description: Requires the Vigour Mortis skill. When attacking barricades, the zombie is given two options. First it may use a regular attack at the standard % chance of knocking off an item, second it may use a new attack called 'Slam' or something similar. This attack uses 2 AP instead of 1 AP, but the chance of knocking off a piece is increased to 50% (.25 DPA as opposed to the standard .20 DPA assuming a 20% chance of success when attacking barricades.) If you don't like it, that's fine. I'm desperate to think of something to help turn around the fact that zombies are outnumbered 2.7 to 1.
