A 20 year old student at Malton Military Academy, he is not only a genius but he is also filthy rich. He is the 5th Generation heir to the VanPelt Estate, with includes the multi-billion dollar VP Brand Cigarette Company. A BioChemical Engineering student, it will be his 2nd Masters upon completion.
Snob-nosed and condscending, he is incensed that this 'apocalypse' has attempted to disturb his progress in life. Particularily useless since he has no skills helpful to his survival, he will not allow the zombie invasion to ruin his day.
He spends his time rummaging through schools looking for books and setting up generators in cinemas so he can watch movies. He will not touch a gun and will not waste his time with trying to kill zeds (not that his fragile body would let him). He will occasionally heal another survivor but would never heal someone over himself. As well, he will occasionally clear out a building if the body stinks or tidy up if he needs to search for supplies.
He travels through the City from cinema to cinema, library to library avoiding any opportunity to help in destroying the corpses.
Recently, Poindexter became possessed by the power of the Tome, and is now the leader of The Last Poets. He has been filled with a sense of purpose that he never knew before.

"Death be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me."

"This is the dead land
This is cactus land
Here the stone images
Are raised, here they receive
The supplication of a dead man's hand
Under the twinkle of a fading star."
"E'en from the tomb the voice of nature cries,
E'en in our ashes live their wonted fires."
-Thomas Gray:Elegy Written In A Country Churchyard
"What sudden fearful fate
Will prevent my shade wandering next year
From a return? Whistle and I will hear."

"Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep."
-Melinda Sue Pacho: I Did Not Die
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn."

"I watch the living meet,
And the moving pageant file
Warm and breathing through the street
Where I lodge a little while."
-A E Housman:When I Watch The Living Meet

"Let me be no nearer
In death's dream kingdom
Let me also wear
Such deliberate disguises
Rat's coat, crowskin, crossed staves
In a field
Behaving as the wind behaves
No nearer --"
"If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'"
"The body of my brother's son
Stood by me, knee to knee:
The body and I pulled at one rope,
But he said nought to me."
