ATF discussion
Hmmm....
related to this. I play Purple Cat. Purple Cat was a member of After_The_Flesh (until I maxed out on zombie skills and decided to play a human for a bit) and whatever other members of the group may be accused of (which is difficult to verify) I most certainly have never, under any circumstances, PKed or zerged. I was, once, revived halfway through attacking someone but was careful to switch from attacking to healing as soon as that happened. So if Purple Cat ever killed HACKnSLASH (and I remember the name so its certainly possible) it was done as a zombie and not as a human.
Purple Cat has, on the other hand, been PKed on several occasions although with ATF listed as the group affiliation that was probably fair enough :-)
- Actually, I think one of my secondary characters (probably either Farad'n Corrino or Jorj McKie) might've gone bounty hunting you in an ATF purge. Although that's one of the reasons I've been making this record, to show where an incident was clear PKing, not a case of someone playing a zombie and then getting revived and having their name displayed as appearing to attack or PK someone later.
- The problem is a zombie with rend flesh will do the same amount of damage as a fireaxe and if you're wearing a flak jacket a bite will do the same damage to you as a pistol. So it's easy to be confused. It would be better if the "X attacked you for N damage" line was changed to "X shot you for N damage" and "X bit you for N damage" and so on. That would lead to less confusion.
- As for annoying groups, I think IZONE are more irritating these days, but it's no surprise that people are annoyed at the ATF either. Mind you, since the ATF classes itself as a zombie group anyway, many would consider that admission as carte blanche to go hunting. Most of my characters have found other things to do (like defend Caiger). ;) --BenM 13:47, 8 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Well, to be honest, I don't mind being killed for belonging to a Zombie group (seems fair enough really) and therefore probably being a spy. In fact, if I get revived, I'm quite happy to spy (ie. tell the rest of the horde where humans are) - remember the (new) adage! don't revive strange zombies.
I just don't want to be killed for PKing. A subtle but important distinction. The thing I really like about this game is that its impossible to really mess up another character. Nothing anyone can do rises above the level of minor irritation. That said, however, there are clearly in game conventions about what is unacceptable/cheating and PKing and zerging are definitely the two activities that most clearly cross that line (well zerging is officially disallowed so is even more clearly "wrong") - hence I have avoided them. I've also avoided breaking barricades from the inside because, well I'm not sure really, I just know I'd be pretty angry if someone did that - its sort of the zombies job to get in from the outside not vice versa.
Now Purple Cat has Free Running I might amble over to Caiger Mall. Sounds like fun.
- As I see it there are two main reasons for survivors to knock off human members of zombie groups: firstly, their being zombie spies, and secondly, if they want to be zombies that badly then why not oblige them. :)
- As for your point about not wanting to be identified as a PKer, I entirely understand. Which is one of the reasons for the page I made. I want to be clear that any act I identify as PKing really is that and not a misunderstanding (such as when the attack is made as a zombie).
- With regards to Caiger Mall, it's an entertaining place, but not the sort of area where you'd want to be identified as a zombie spy. --BenM 04:51, 10 Dec 2005 (GMT)
- Caiger was fine but I then moved to Dunell Hills and had some trouble there before I was accepted. Now back at Caiger although since I'm currently standing outside St. Isidore's going Mrh? I can hardly be said to be helping out! Louise - 19:37, 1 Feb 2006
