Do you wish non-administrators to edit your signature, if not, should it be protected? --Myrtonos C @ 08:03, 23 September 2013 (BST)

Rule of thumb, people aren't allowed to edit pages in other people's userspaces without their explicit permission. Protection usually isn't needed unless there is a threat of repeated vandalism to a userspace page, or some other extreme circumstance. --RWSig1.png RWSig2.pngFoD PK Praise Rando!08:14, 23 September 2013 (BST)
I realise that people are not by default allowed to edit pages in other's usespace. That seems like a good enough reason to protect pages in sysops userspace unless they explicitly allow non-sysops to edit it. --Myrtonos C @ 13:28, 23 September 2013 (BST)
Up to Bob really. So far, mangled signatures haven't been an issue on this wiki. Also, if you subst your signature instead of transcluding it, it is not really an issue an at all (which Bob isn't doing). -- Spiderzed 16:54, 23 September 2013 (BST)
I don't generally protect my user subpages because I'm pretty cool with other users making minor/adjustment edits for style reasons (see this edit as an example of one). That doesn't really extend to my signature, thought. I haven't protected that partly because it is transcluded on so many pages, so if something in it breaks and thus breaks those pages, I'd want someone to be able to deal with it right away. But yeah, unless that's happening please don't edit my signature. Thanks! Bob Moncrief EBDW! 17:40, 23 September 2013 (BST)
