No worries. I am actually a level 10 or 11 survivor. I just got tired after waiting for revive for 3 days. Since I was at 82 XP at the time I decided to pick up Lurching Gate. Simply enough, I don't think there's much to be done against Shacknews. The folks at Latrobe did a good job, and that suggests Shacknews can be held off by a very large survivor force that's well led, motivated, and capable. These were the sort that were defending Latrobe- until all of them died- and had the rest of the Caigers been similar, the place would probably still be in survivor hands. It's been pointed out that when the mall was ransacked, there were still over 500 survivors inside- and that's just a massive, massive failure on the part of the humans.

Survivors could probably also do a number on them if they were to spread out throughout a suburb. Shacknews works as one coordinated strike team, and when they hit, they leave nothing standing. If survivors spread out among many low key buildings throughout a suburb, it will make the timed strike thing meaningless. Think about it, their strength is a timed attack, but simultaneous attacks on multiple buildings don't mean anything.
