#'''Spam''' - This is essentially a sniping suggestion, so I vote Spam. Since you asked for constructive criticism: Compose your suggestion text in something you can spellcheck in (eg. Word); Release a suggestion when it's ready - so use the suggestion talk page to get some initial feedback, so you don't have to keep re-suggesting it. It's there for a reason; Include '''all''' the information that people will want - you didn't include the hit percentages for the ranged attacks; re-read your suggestion before you post it - I didn't get from what you wrote it was to be a NEW SKILL, although I can see you meant that now I know that intended to; have a closer read of the [[Suggestions_Dos_and_Do_Nots]] and [[Frequently_Suggested]] pages, to make reduce the chance of your suggestion getting killed or spammed out of town. 20070621 Shoot From a Distance Take Two

Bruce Torbaron 02:24, 21 June 2007 (BST)

Suggest Type: Skill

Suggest Scope: Gun-Bearing Survivors

'Suggest Description:

As of now, ranged and melee weapons have no difference except in damage and % to hit (which melee weapons differ in anyway). With this skill (with advanced pistol training as a perequiesite *spelling*), a survivor could shoot at a zombie with a pistol(or another survivor if they wish, freaking PKers!!) from a block away, thus taking advantage of the weapon being ranged (a shotgun would not work, as bullets scatter, and a flare gun would not shoot very far).

To aim at someone from a distance: If they are a survivor, they will show up on your dropdown attack list, but will have a (b) next to their name, to indicate that they are a block away. Example:

Attack: Cheeseman----- Pooeater----- Harry Pothead (b)----- etc.

To aim at a ZOMBIE from a distance, it would also show up on your dropdown list, but a little direction marker would be next to their name. Example:

Attack: A zombie (here)----- A zombie (south)----- A zombie (southwest)----- etc. This would be useful, as one would not get close to any zombies, you would have to move less, and you could take advantage of the gun being ranged. This is not overpowered as it is a SKILL, and you have to buy THE WHOLE PISTOL SKILLS TREE to get it. This would not work inside buidlings, and would not carry over (DUURR!!). You wouldn't be able to choose the zombie you attack, but hey, you can't do that anyway, so there. I still dont think i did the template right, but you can vote now! CONSTRUCTIVE critisicm (spelling?) is welocmed!

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Author keep, should be able to use ranged weapons from a RANGE. --Bruce Torbaron 02:26, 21 June 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Pistols are not much better than shotguns for shotting at stuff 20 metres away. You haven't specified the accuracy either, so I'm assuming it the current 65%, maxed out accuracy of pistols. Would be more believable if a rifle was being used (but we don't have one in UD). The current system works well enough though, you've got to get in close (put yourself in harms way) to attack -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 02:50, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill Boxy hits a good point. This seems more like a rifle thing, so when ever we get a good rifle suggestion, be sure to bring this back up. Also, as you requested, prerequisite is how you spell it.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 05:29, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill Ditto, more of a rifle thing. What if I just walked over to the area? This would make PKing too easy as well. Assuming you could snipe humans. --Secruss 05:51, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill Kevan would have added sniper guns if he wanted to let us shoot from a block away. And I don't think "durr"ing people helps. --Dragon fang 06:33, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill Please, take this to suggestions Talk:Suggestions. This could be made to work but will need somes serious input from everyone!--Seventythree 07:40, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - You know I looked for something like this to Dupe vote but there really is nothing, this is the first for this specific variation of this(there have been similar zombie suggestions which were super-killed). Basically this is a sniper suggestion and can only cause bad things. There is no need to shoot someone a square away much less a reason it would be justified.--karek 08:04, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - For a number of reasons. 1) Firearms are firearms... treat them all equally. 2) Accuracy should decrease with distance. 3) You haven't said whether or not people would be able to tell who did the shooting. 4) If this doesn't work indoors, what's the point? 4) To clarify point #3, this should NOT work from inside to outside (because that would get spammed). 5) This might work better for a rifle suggestion. --Uncle Bill 13:23, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill - A new skill should be required to gain this advantage and I think that accuracy should decrease significantly with range. --ZombieSlay3rSig.pngT 16:41, 21 June 2007 (BST)
RE: You obviously didn't read it, since i said it WAS a new skill.... Also, my FIRST suggeston of this suggested that accuracy decreased with range, and people said it was useless, since the survivor woul;d move in, shoot, then move back out. --Bruce Torbaron 16:45, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill - This Again?----Sexualharrison MR ה TStarofdavid2.png Boobs.gif 17:17, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill - same again --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 20:35, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  11. Kill - This would nerf the crap out of zombies and give Pkers something to frustrate survivors with too. --Sonofagun18 07:18, 25 June 2007 (BST)
  12. Kill - as others.-- Vista  +1  20:21, 28 June 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - Dude, you jumped the gun. Shoulda taken it to Talk:Suggestions first and worked on it there. At least you tried this time. --Magentaine 03:44, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam - Almost triple the amount of spam on my attack list so I dont have to move one block? Well, I spam your spam with a spam! wooty 17:10, 20 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam - This is essentially a sniping suggestion, so I vote Spam. Since you asked for constructive criticism: Compose your suggestion text in something you can spellcheck in (eg. It's there for a reason; Include all the information that people will want - you didn't include the hit percentages for the ranged attacks; re-read your suggestion before you post it - I didn't get from what you wrote it was to be a NEW SKILL, although I can see you meant that now I know that intended to; have a closer read of the Suggestions_Dos_and_Do_Nots and Frequently_Suggested pages, to make reduce the chance of your suggestion getting killed or spammed out of town. armareum 03:22, 22 June 2007 (BST)
