History
The Singer building was built in the 1970’s and was built with (then) cutting edge electronics for the WMTN TV7 NEWS station in order to upgrade it for transmissions to all of Malton. The building was named after Joseph Singer, the benefactor that provided the majority of financial backing for the WMTN TV7 NEWS in its early days.
In the late 1990s, the building was gutted and new fiber optic lines was installed in order to prepare the building for the new millennium. Satellite dishes were installed in order to easily communicate with the mobile reporters and enable live broadcasts from remote locations.
