#:I disagree. Each weapon has its own strengths and weaknesses (such as the fire extinguisher, heavy but unwieldy; or the umbrella, goofy but somewhat accurate). Could I ask you to support me on the benefit of the doubt? Can you ''really'' be sure that all of these items are useless? If people really don't like certain things, they can just throw them away. In any case, I believe that there is never any harm in giving people more choices. "One size does not fit all." -[[User:CaptainVideo|CaptainVideo]] 07:13, 3 March 2009 (UTC) | #:I disagree. Suggestion description
This suggestion is built on Suggestion:20070619 Antique Weapons, created by Blinken the Gremlin in 2007, which, in short, suggested a series of novelty firearms as well as an accuracy skill called "Historical Reenactment." The idea was eventually shot down, and the consensus was that:
- The concept was interesting, and
- Would add flavor to the game, but
- The provisions would cause far too many people to be running around with antique firearms, and
- A fairly large contingent of peer review considered the whole idea to be more humorous than practical.
I like the underlying idea: "At the moment, the only useful things that can be found in these [museums] are decorations. This suggestion would change that to include weapons that would reasonably found in such buildings." There was disagreement among the camps as to what constituted "reasonably." Since none of the museums in Malton is even tangentially related to firearms, I've decided that vintage guns are an unworkable aspect. However, I can think of some items that could reasonably be found in museums, based on type. For reference, the list of museum types can be found here.
In short: This is a list of proposed weapons (and a few new decorations) that could be added to the game for flavor.
UPDATE 07:06, 3 March 2009 (UTC): I just realized I forgot to include encumbrance levels for the various items. I have now added these.
Umbrella Museums
- Umbrella - Search rate, 4 - 8%. Weapon, does 1 damage @ 15% success (slightly better than a punch). Encumbrance: 3
- Parasol - Search rate, 1 - 2%. Weapon, does 1 damage @ 15% success. E: 2
Scientific History Museums
- Copper rod - Search rate, 2 - 3%. Weapon, does 2 damage @ 8% success. E: 3
- Iron rod - Search rate, 1 - 2%. Weapon, does 2 damage @ 8% success. E: 4
- Glass jar - Search rate, 2 - 4%. Decoration. E: 2
- Glass jar - Search rate, 2 - 4%. Decoration. E: 2
- Brain in a jar - Search rate, 1%. Decoration. Really, really awesome decoration. E: 5
All museums
- Fire extinguisher - Search rate, 1 -2%. Weapon, does 3 damage @ 5% success. E: 10
- This one perhaps requires explanation. You don't spray people/zeds with it; you beat them with it. ("You hit a zombie with the fire extinguisher, doing 3 damage.")

- Spam - While new decorations is a neat suggestion, adding more "weapons" that nobody will use seems rather pointless. --Maverick Talk - OBR 404 07:04, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
