Welcome to McCloud's
McCloud's is a nice little place where human vs. zombie conventions are put aside and where good food & friends meet. Starting way back in "old school" 2005, a small microbrewery pub and bar was launched in Malton shortly after the first onset of winter The initial warehouse location, in Northeast Havercroft, was dusty and dirty, but soon found itself clean and updated. The pub soon expanded to include nearby St. Eligius's Church for the brew works and incorporated Club Traves' dance floor as the club wing . The corner aid station near the bar served all who made it through the door. We thank Axes High, the MFD, and the many independents who have become our regulars and friends in both locations. Although we have moved the main branch of McCloud's to Peppardville in Spring 2006, we still keep a McCloud's West open for all of our good friends and weary travelers.
McCloud's was founded by one determined Scot. She recognized that surviving was not enough. What was life without fun, friends, and a few drinks! Heck, the Havercroft location had a cemetery patio for zeds and now Swansborough Plaza in Peppardville serves as the patio for the East Pub!
Today, McCloud's operates two locations; Havercroft & Peppardville. The Peppardville location hosts a dizzyingly diverse array of regulars ranging from grizzled veterans of Fort Creedy's forces drinking quietly at the bar to the more macabre denizens of Malton howling at the night sky. While the Peppardville location plays host to the more "social scene" atmosphere, McCloud's West in Havercroft sports a much cozier feel these days akin to your typical pub house. Havercroft comes complete with hot stew and a roaring fireplace, perfect for those looking for serenity and warmth on long winter nights. Friends will often find Ada moving between both spots, ensuring only the best for her customers.
Brew Selections
I'm so exhausted, I'm gonna perform a miracle. One seltzer water please. ***makes sign of the cross over the seltzer*** The power of Christ compels you! ***takes a sip*** Because it pleases the lord, I've transmographied it into Zima. -Pope Corpse XVIII
Our Brewmaster is constantly on the lookout for new recipes. Frequently, McCloud's has seasonal specials in addition to our regular selection.
Imperial Stout (9%)- Havercroft's most popular brew! A dark blend of roasted malts and barley. A strong taste of malt flavours, hints of dark fruits, resembling a chocolate dessert.
Holyman's Summer Cerveza (5%)- This seasonal brew has an appearance similar to that of a Pilsner. Malt character is subdued and the hop profile ranges from citrus if drunk on its own, to spicy if consumed in conjunction with the Pub's signature spicy grilled rabbit.
Sleepy Hollow Pumpkin Brew (6.1%)- Our most popular seasonal brew! Mild taste, with little to no bitterness, a malty backbone, with hint of cinnamon and clove.
Connolly Park Apple Cider (5.4%)- Fermented apple cider brewed with cinnamon and cardamom.
Oranjebier-
McCloud's Pub Lamport, Brewmaster's Selection
These brews are specially made in Sanson Cinema by Brewmaster Val Stark according to the recipes brewed at The Hollwey Arms by The Lamport Brewmasters in Lamport Hills. Both Val and Holyman agreed that the draft selection needed a bit of diversity.
Lamport Gold (4.8%): Our golden Kolsch style ale is both crisp and refreshing. One of our most popular beers!
Malton Brown (5.1%): An English style brown ale. Inspired by the Food Network celebrity.
Headshot IPA (5.5%): A surprisingly drinkable American style IPA.
Redshirt Ale (5.3%): A well balanced American style Amber ale.
Three Pubs Tripel (~9%): A Belgian style Tripel. This beer is closely guarded and reserved for special customers and McCloud's Pub. A small amount has been imported to McCloud's Pub at Dalley Library
From the Bar
Fruit Infused Liquor-
Winter Kilt- Aged Scotch with cocoa bean infusion. Perfect for cold Malton winters! Limited Availability. Ask your bartender.
....I know...it sounds a little strange...try it...You'll be liking it.... -Danella D, Havercroft
Selections From the Grill
Spicy Grilled Rabbit- Freshly caught rabbit quarter covered in Greek-style or curry dry rub. Served with a side of grilled potatoes. Potoatoes can be substituted with fresh-ish fruit on a seasonal basis.
Rat Burger- Best damned burger in Malton! Ground rat meat cooked to order on your choice of bread (depending on our available stock) with lettuce, the occasionally looted tomato, and pickles, when we can find them.
Curry spiced grilled vegetables- A seasonal blend of curried and grilled tomatoes, corn, zucchini, and other seasonal items. Can be served as a side to our burgers and rabbit.
Specialty Items from the Boss
Spam Sushi- We have a variety of entrees. Ask about our daily specials
Stuffed Jalapenos- Roasted Jalapenos stuffed with cheese, spam, and spices. Great with our Summer Cerveza!
tea and cake or death! - Jesus on speed
Tips from Ada McCloud
1) Wipe yer feet... its a dirty world out there
2) Weapons at the door, please. No PK'ing, RK'ing, GK'ing, or ZK'ing. Both locations are to be considered neutral ground. Violations of this policy are grounds for immediate and permanent ejection from the property. No exceptions.
3) Our patio locations are open for business. With regrets, we must enforce a policy of only serving zeds outside for safety considerations.
4) Look for when the generator is on, because then we have ice & freshly grilled food!
5) No need to be shy in my place - just say hi. First drink for newcomers is on the house!
Happenings from the Pub
In December 2007, we had the privilege of being the last, and wildest stop on the Quartly Study Group's (QSG) Library Tour. For what wasn't nearly long enough, we played host to the manic Jabberwock spouting librarians, their groupies, stalkers, roadies, attorneys, and one live crocodile. With our expanded numbers threatening to violate the Malton civil fire code, we let down our hair, and our barricades, and allowed the party to spill out into the streets.
