Brokbury Row Fire Station, a fire-damaged metal-and-glass building surrounded by burnt-out cars.

Description

Maltonfdsymbol2.jpg

Brokbury Row Fire Station is a fire station located in the suburb of Pescodside. The fire station was opened back in 1944 and its close proximity to three museums was hardly a coincidence as more often then not fire crews were dispatched to protect the museums, even at the cost of the surrounding buildings. These actions drew angry murmurings from many local citizens who resented the special treatment and considerations the city gave the museums, but Pescoside's Fire Marshall at the time had little say in the matter as his orders came directly from city hall. Brokbury Row Fire Station was originally opened as part of a new initiative involving several fire stations in a city plan to stem the higher-than-average rate of fires plaguing Pescodside. With a steady flow of "donations" from the nearby museums the fire station received considerable renovations over the years that kept it as one of the most well-equipped fire stations in all of east Malton, although due to its limited action within the suburb many of those benefits were lost on the public.

Noted NecroTech scientist, Caleb Usher, was quoted as once having said, "Five fire stations? If only Malton were swarming with fires, not zombies, then Pescodside would have been one of the safest suburbs."

Barricade Policy

This building should be Very Strongly (VS+2) barricaded at all times. This is in accordance with the mutually agreed-upon Pescodside Barricade Plan set forth by local survivor groups and the Dulston Alliance, who routinely work together to monitor that the barricades for this building are at the aforementioned level. This building is meant to serve as a shelter for Malton's inexperienced survivors and entry point into other nearby fortified buildings.

Survivors who find the building's barricades below their assigned level are asked to assist in raising them back up in order to help ensure the safety of all the survivors staying inside the building. Any survivor found lowering the barricades may be directly "put to the question" by any member of the Dulston Alliance or vigilante-minded survivor if caught in the act. If this happens the accused survivor is required to present a valid reason for their actions or be labeled a zombie spy/death cultist and be judged accordingly. So always be cautious lest you find yourself summarily executed for crimes against humanity.

Survivors are reminded that should any member of the Dulston Alliance who finds the barricades raised higher that Very Strongly without any apparent danger to the building or area they have the authority to lower the barricades back down to Very Strongly in order to restore access to the building from the outside.

It should be noted that, as the fire station, this building is under the management of the Malton Fire Department and therefore its barricade policy can be reset by them as the need arises. Hopefully this should not be in conflict with the standard policy for this location.

Current Events

September 24th, 2008 - The Electric Light Torchestra recon reported that the fire station, while ruined, was empty of zombies. Survivors could, in a pinch, reclaim and rebarricade the building.

July 23rd, 2006 - The northwest corner of Pescodside should be avoided by those without free running for the next couple of days, as pockets of zombie activity (1 group of 20, 2 groups of 10 & 20 or so ferals) are centered near Brokbury Row fire station and Treweeke Mall have surviviors in area over-barricading. This is resulting in many survivors being stuck outside, Brokbury Row is currently extremely heavily barricaded. - Euphoriakill M.E.M.S.
