Borehamwood is one of three cities available in Urban Dead, the others being Malton and Monroeville, which is very similar to Borehamwood. It was introduced on Tuesday 28th October 2008 as part of the promotional campaign for the UK release Dead Set, directed by Charlie Brooker.

Playing in Borehamwood

Logging in with Borehamwood characters is done from the main main Urban Dead page. Character names from Malton and Monroeville cannot be reused in Borehamwood(and, conversely, Borehamwood names cannot be used in Malton and Monroeville). Basically all three cities share database and game mechanics, any differences are based on available equipment and building types.

Bloodied eyes can be found on the description panel of the game, along with similar graffiti what was preset there when the city was opened.

Competition

Players in Borehamwood can win one of five signed DVD copies of Dead Set.

The competition has three criteria:

  • Make sure that your character has an email address set (so that we can get hold of you if you win).
  • Find the Big Brother House in the game.
  • Enter the Diary Room, and leave a message for the cameras by having your character speak. (If you're a zombie, just groan.) If you have an email address set, you will be told that you are now entered into the competition.

Winners will be chosen on Friday 28th November 2008 and notified by email.

General Details

Skills

Due to the lack of Necrotech buildings, several skills are useless in Borehamwood. These skills are: Necrotech employment, Lab Experience and Necronet Access. These skills can still be purchased as normal, but the Lab Assistant class is unavailable.

On the day of the city's opening, Kevan confirmed that although the Headshot skill would be present in Borehamwood, it would not result in permanent death.

The dead are a lot faster on their feet in Borehamwood; if a zombie without the Lurching Gait skill spots a survivor, they can click the Rage button to instantly gain that skill at no experience point cost.

  • Note: The zombie in question must be on the same square as the survivor for this to work, not just see them on the mini map.

Radio

Currently there are no radio stations active in Borehamwood.

  • 28.01 is proposed as the first, "general" radio station
  • 28.02 is Semi-Reserved for the CSS Radio Crew. We just need to get a transmitter set up.

Groups

Newspapers

"It's a glossy tabloid magazine. Marky from Big Brother is on the cover, with several unflattering quotes from other housemates."

"It's a national paper that seems preoccupied with house prices and cancer scares."

"It's a recent tabloid. The front page banner questions whether Pippa or Grayson will be voted out of the Big Brother house this week."

"It's a recent tabloid. The main story seems to be about Marky from Big Brother."

"It's a local paper, with a story about security at the Big Brother house in South Borehamwood."

"It's a financial broadsheet, heavy with economic analysis."
