Basic Info:

  • Excellent place to find first aid kits. Zombies frequently check inside.
  • Portable Generators have a use other than powering the lights and increasing search probability in hospitals. Players with the Surgery Skill can heal for 15 HP if the Hospital has a fueled up Generator.
  • Hospitals can be barricaded normally.
  • Among the internal descriptions found in Hospitals:
    • "...its wards and corridors blackened with the soot of a recent fire"
    • "...its empty wards criss-crossed with snapped quarantine tape."
    • "...one of the city's psychiatric hospitals."
    • "...dark corridors leading through abandoned wards."
    • "...its emergency room in disarray."
    • "...its lobby covered with quarantine posters."
    • "...a children's hospital with bright murals across the walls. "
    • "The main lobby is riddled with bullet holes."
    • "It was one of the last to be evacuated, and seems to have been cleared out in a hurry."
    • "...a derelict hospital that was closed down years ago."

Description

Maltonhospitals.PNG

St. Herman's Hospital is a hospital located in the suburb of Rolt Heights on the border with Pescodside to the east. Ever since the initial outbreak, known to some as the "Malton Incident", the hospital has done its best to help treat the injured and provide safe harbor for the citizens of Malton, but more often then not it has come under siege from the zombie hordes. Many are the times that the hospital has suffered for its attempts to keep its barricades low enough to let inexperienced survivors inside, as zombies have on several occasions breached the hospital's defenses.

Mandate

The staff at St. Herman's Hospital try to always support the following ideals:

  1. To provide medical assistance to anyone and everyone who enters.
  2. To cure the infected.
  3. To keep its doors open to lower level survivors, if possible.

It is asked that survivors please note whether or not there is a portable generator within the hospital, and whether it has fuel or not. As a working portable generator is required for the Surgery skill it is asked the survivors provide support by replacing either the generator when destroyed or refilling its fuel supply when its exhausted. This in turn will allow the medical staff to provide more efficient aid to the injured.

Barricade Policy

This building should be Extremely Heavily barricaded at all times. This is in accordance with the barricade plan set forth by the Burchell Arms Regulars, who routinely monitor the barricade level for this building. It should be noted that this barricade policy goes against the stnadrad policy for all hospitals across Malton. Normally with a hospital it is important that every effort be made to keep an "open door" policy (VS+2 barricades) so that inexperienced survivors can always find the medical aid and shelter they need here. The B.A.R's policy though has defined this building as a safehouse for Malton's veteran survivors, and thus requires the Free Running skill to be properly utilized. This is not a problem, as the hospital 1S1E is always Very Strongly barricaded.

Survivors who find the building's barricades below their assigned level are asked to assist in raising them back up in order to help ensure the safety of all the survivors staying inside the building. Any survivor found lowering the barricades may be directly "put to the question" by any member of the B.A.R. present at that time. If this happens the accused survivor must present a valid reason for their actions or be labeled a zombie spy/death cultist and be judged accordingly.

As of Jan 18,2009 the barricades 1S1E is not accessible from ground and this hospital is. Nabakaron out.

Current Events

December 21st, 2008 - The Burchell Arms Regulars reported that St. Herman's Hospital had fallen to a zombie mob.

November 25th, 2008 - MrGomez, a Burchell Arms Regulars Manager, cleared out the last zombie standing inside the hospital and then fortified its defences to Very Strongly (VS+2) barricades before departing. His parting words were, "There's still much work to be done".

February 28th, 2008 - Medicines Sans Frontiers currently operating out of this location.

October 3rd, 2007 - VSB with nine survivors. A generator is running here, and was just refueled. A tag is up, reading "BOTH Hospitals should be at VSB!"

August 9th, 2007 - VSB with few survivors inside. However, there are very few zeds in area, so it's still pretty safe. Open to anyone willing to maintain or operate it.--Bruce Lee VIII 23:35, 9 August 2007 (BST)

April 14th, 2007 - Namon Allen had no luck as he was killed again, this time by PerpetuallyDead of Cybele's Slayers. Again this crime was attributed to the Rolt Heights War.

Update: PerpetuallyDead was later tracked down and executed for her crimes by the Burchell Arms Regulars at a factory in Pescodside that very same day.

April 8th, 2007 - Todhandler of Red Rum killed Namon Allen of the Malton Liberation Army who was sheltering in the hospital. The crime was later reported to be connected to the Rolt Heights War.

April 6th, 2007 - Shadowean murdered jelli cat in the first recorded fatality of the Rolt Heights War at the hospital... but most likely not the last.

July 8th, 2006 - St. Herman's Hospital, along with several other buildings, were all overrun by zombies from the Ridleybank Resistance Front. Survivors were forced to flee or die.

May 24th, 2006 - Due to a relentless assault by Dead Animals St. Herman's Hospital now stands devoid of all life.

May 17th, 2006 - The hospital is currently under attack from a number of zombies, meaning that the barricades are often too heavy for direct entry (ie. without free running).

May 12th, 2006 - Having had their fill of scientists and librarians, Dead Animals zombies recovered from their hangovers and moved on to a lighter breakfast of doctor brains. Their target was St. Herman's Hospital, or "St. Herman's International House of Doctors" as they called it. The zombies came from their previous siege across the border from Pescodside. Apparently it's true what they say... nothing "good" comes from Pescodside.

March 18th, 2006 - After a few minor battles during the day it appears that the zombie group, the Undeadites, are loitering around St. Herman's Hospital with the zombie spy Zerdna confirmed as sighted in the hospital. Whether this is simply a loner that was seperated from a larger force, or whether it is in fact an advance party remains yet to be seen.

March 16th, 2006 - After a shopping spree at the local mall Doc Hollyday returned to St. Herman's Hospital heavily armed. Inside were 3 zombies that had broken through the barricades and were busy munching on a survivor. Two zombies were killed in mere moments with a combination of shotgun and pistol fire, while another was hacked down to within an inch of its unlife. Stormberg passed through and pulled the head off the last zombie. The barricades were raised and bodies dumped.
