Spray Cans
Anyone know how the the number of sprays left in a can is calculated/kept track of? One possibility is a chance of becoming used up on each use; Tagging would decrease this chance. This would mean that the info here on "up to 5 sprays" is inaccurate. The other possibility is simply a stored variable that decreases by one on each use; when it reaches zero, the spary can is used up and disappears. This would mean that spray cans count double against the 51 item max, just like pistols and shoguns. --LouisB3 22:40, 4 Oct 2005 (BST)
- I'd say it's random, but maybe with a maximum number of possible sprays, or it's based on the number of characters you spray. Either way it doesn't count double in your inventory, I can verify that, at least. --Raelin 22:59, 4 Oct 2005 (BST)
- I tried to use a sprayer on a NecTec building (inside) without tagging...and it said You can't find any use for that here. WTF? MaulMachine 16:01, 1 Feb 2006 (GMT)
I have Tagging, but the last three spray cans I've used have all run out after (NB after; I wasn't trying to spray profanity) a single use. Am I just having bad luck, or have other people been noticing this as well? -- Hendrik Casimir 07:00, 18 February 2006 (GMT)
Spray cans are useful. Shouldn't they be in useful items instead of with the junk? --Dan 23:49, 2 May 2006 (BST)
Has the times you spray changed? The last 3 cans I had one did one spray before running out even with the taggiing skill. I was only doing 6 letters no profanity or anything. c2s 17:47, 27 June 2008 (BST)
Tagging bonus
Does anyone know if tagging a buidling multiple times with the same spray can give you multiple XP? I.E. you spray a police station 5 times in a row, do you get 10 xp? --Bioweapon 02:44, 1 Feb 2006 (GMT)
- I know tagging affects the type of cans you get, not how they work. In other words, if you find cans before buying tagging, they will act like you don't have tagging even when you have the skill. - Pardus 17:00, 26 October 2007 (BST)
Spray Can Problems
Anyone know why the game wouldn't let me use a spray can on a site that was already marked?Darby o'banon 23:06, 9 Oct 2005 (BST)
Lately I haven't been able to spray on anything. Maybe I just have really bad luck, but for the past at least five spray cans I've found they'd hiss and run out instead of spraying anything on any wall. Is this just me, or is it some bug? Zaknrfama 1 Jan 2006
- Attempting to spray profanity of any kind makes your spray-can hiss and run out before spraying. That's the likely cause. --Daxx 23:54, 1 Jan 2006 (GMT)
Does anyone have a list of the banned words? Does it search for them surrounded by whitespace, or anywhere in a string? What about l33t-sp34k versions of profanity and misc. mispellings? I'm actually not interested in getting around the filter, it just seems like a good project in the name of completely understanding the game. Personman 07:44, 22 February 2006 (GMT)
Beer and Wine
Who determined the wine heal succes rates? I used one beer and four bottles of wine today, and they all healed me. Then I staggered around a bit, and passed out. --Dickie Fux 20:38, 26 Nov 2005 (GMT)
- I believe that, like most non-search odds, someone just made up some likely numbers and that's what we have. --LouisB3 05:23, 27 Nov 2005 (GMT)
I will remove the odds, unless anyone has experienced them not restoring HP. --Daxx 17:19, 9 Dec 2005 (GMT)
- I have, but I was at full health anyway. Logically, this would prevent the "You feel refreshed." text and heal.--Arathen 13:40, 15 Jan 2006 (GMT)
Books
Is the 10% chance of exp based on documented research, or is it just a number made up on a whim like suggested for wine? - Dashiva 00:49, 7 Dec 2005 (GMT)
- Probably made up. --LouisB3 00:56, 7 Dec 2005 (GMT)
- Somebody should consider collecting data on the odds of these various items working. --Kulatu 01:03, 7 Dec 2005 (GMT)
- I mentioned that on the Search Odds talk page, to no avail. --LouisB3 01:27, 7 Dec 2005 (GMT)
- A Page has been created to record Book Odds. Feel free to share your data with the rest of the world... -- Odd Starter talk | Mod 01:44, 7 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Sweet. Now we just need similar pages for alcohol and spray cans. And I'll probably get around to modify the book odds text so that it actually is relevant for book odds, instead of just a Search odds ripoff. --LouisB3 01:47, 7 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Wirecutters
For some reason The Power Station link doesn't work in the main article. I've checked spelling and everything. --Andrew McM 11:54, 27 Nov 2005 (GMT)
- There's no redirect named Power Station. Can't link to what's not there. --LouisB3 18:06, 27 Nov 2005 (GMT)
I just found a heavily barricaded junkyard with the following description:
- You are standing outside a junkyard, a patch of wasteland surrounded by a tall wire fence. The building has been very heavily barricaded. Somebody has spraypainted DON'T CUT THE FENCE FREE RUN IN onto a wall.
Wow - have I found an uncut junkyard? --LouisB3 21:42, 14 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Only one way to find out- bash down the barricade. Go on. Not that an uncut barricade will be that useful. Some zombie spy would just cut it.--Chanb 21:24, 15 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Newspapers
Whoa! Since when do newspapers *give* you AP? Can anyone confirm this? --Biscuit 19:02, 29 Nov 2005 (GMT)
- If they do, it's a fairly low rate. It would have to be 50% just to break even with AP spent reading, and it seems lower. My personal gain is 0 AP after 9 newspapers so far. - Dashiva 20:49, 4 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Newspapers part 2
I think I just got a newspaper in a Junkyard. Yet does not have this as one of the places to get it. Moon stone 23:36, 7 Dec 2005 (GMT)
- Some locations are believed to drop (almost) every item in the game, but since they drop so many items, the drop rate of each is too diminutive to bother listing. - Dashiva 00:25, 8 Dec 2005 (GMT)
- Unfortunately, people still list Junkyards as locations for practically all items, so go ahead and add it to the list for newspapers if you want. --LouisB3 01:44, 8 Dec 2005 (GMT)

what location still isnt sprayed and why?
Christmas Lights
What colours of lights have people seen? --Toejam 21:42, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
The current text says that if you try to add another color of lights, the game won't let you; but right now the SW corner of Blesley Mall has the text "A plastic Christmas tree has been set up here, decorated with red, green and white lights." so either someone found multicolored lights or more than one color can be added. - Crisco Inferno 02:49, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
You add colours in layers, and each color acts as a barracade level. If you attack them it says "You smash at the lights. A bulb pops." (or something to that effect.) --Joe O'Wood TALKCONTRIBSUD 12:35, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- Does anyone think it would be prudent to add a note about some of the weirdness surrounding the Christmas Lights and Trees? I've seen at least one person killed with no reason given other than taking down lights, and at this moment there is a tag in Caiger reading "CLKers are as bad as GKers." I'd take it as a joke, but some people honestly seem to be offended by the idea of someone taking down the decorations well after Christmas is over. To be honest, it's kinda creepy. Any thoughts? intooblv 00:25, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Dead fir tree
I did a search in a park, and first try got the following message:
You find a small fir tree, and fell it with your fire axe. (I had an fire axe in my inventory at the time)
This added the item dead fir tree' to my inventory.
I later used the dead fir tree inside an auto repair, and got the following message:
You set the tree up in a prominent position, propping it up with barricade debris.
This added A recently-cut fir tree has been propped up in a crude stand. to the location description.BzAli 21:59, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
You can't get a fir tree without an axe I just tried. Survivor
Newspapers new update?
Perhaps we should put the propaganda on one page and the survivor related pamphlets on another? --Fullemtaled 06:16, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- See News Stories. It's sorted there, in advice, propaganda and background. - BzAli 21:11, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
Crucifix Experience?
I saw this quote under the crucifix heading:
"You can use it to get 1 xp in a mall (aperently)"
Now, I've never heard of this, can someone explain just how one can obtain experience in this manner? Or is this a rare form of Urban Dead Wiki vandalism? ;)

Crucifix
The Crucifix section does not mention if it can cure infection. Can it? -Bill Turner 04:49, 5 August 2007 (BST)
- And can I get some more opinions? Is it true that it heals 1 HP? Last time I checked (which was admittedly some time ago) they were still worthless pieces of trash, wastes of IP hits. Italus 23:40, 9 August 2007 (BST)
- I just tried to use one and it did absolutely nothing. Whoop. I could've spent that time hitting something really... --McWaffle 01:49, 14 August 2007 (BST)
Wirecutters no longer found...
I'm not sure about every location, but after doing multiple hundreds of searches in factories, warehouses, and auto repair shops, I have not found a single wirecutter. I suspect that they were removed at the same time that toolboxes were introduced. --Morgan Blair 22:56, 9 October 2007 (BST)
