Pashenton - Malton's Movie Mecca!

Pashenton began as a relatively small settlement on the outskirts of Malton proper, notable for small vegetable farms and quaint atmosphere. With only one road into central Malton at the time, the suburb managed to stay relatively undeveloped until well into the 19th century, and was renowned for farmer's markets and parks. This would change, however, with the advent of the industrial revolution.

In the late 19th century Malton Rail introduced special workman's trains and fares on its newly opened branch lines. Pashenton's low-lying fields and market gardens were then rapidly transformed into cheap housing for the lower-middle and working classes, who were able to commute cheaply to inner Malton. This fare policy stimulated the relatively early development of the area into an important Malton suburb, and the pastoral atmosphere slowly began to fade away as more and more land was filled by residential developments and commercial buildings.

The affordability of housing and the abundance of trees began to draw middle class workers from the nearby industrial neighborhoods such as Rolt Heights, and the lower classes who had given Pashenton its first influx of population began to move out when their commute became too long for their liking. The suburb gradually took on a middle class character, and an abundance of nickelodeon movie theaters, hotels, and other entertainment and tourist buildings began to be built in the suburb.

Today Pashenton is famous for the Summer Film Festival, where citizens from around the country flock to our many cinemas and movie theaters and enjoy film awards and a variety of domestic and foreign cinema. Weekend tour packages can be purchased for a reasonable price at the Pashenton Chamber of Commerce at Obern Plaza. Come and see our Pashenton pride!

The above was taken from a pre-incident pamphlet published by the Pashenton Chamber of Commerce.

  • crackle*KSSSSSSSSHT- Okay, been a long time since I've reported in. Uh, spent the last few months curled up in an old van inside Blaxall Auto Repair. Needed some R&R. Well, to be honest, I got sick of the constant fighting. The Zeds bust their way in, and I'm one of the bastards stupid enough to make a stand. You pour God knows how many bullets into those things, and sometimes they get driven back, other times you get your skull cracked. Sometimes you gotta get up close and personal 'cuz ammo is thin on the ground. I remember standing amidst the rubble of that goddamned Necrotech facility in the Woolven Building, head to toe in blood, fire axe caked with chunks of Zed. We'd been fighting for something like three days straight, and the fuckers had finally won, tore the place to the ground. And I couldn't help but think, why do we think we're any better than they are? They kill us, we kill them. So I'd had enough. Let some bright-eyed dumbass young fools take over, calling themselves the Autobots. It's all the same around here. They'll lose interest soon enough and go their own ways, form other groups and act like they're here to save the city. Haven't seen one man wearing that goofy robot head on his sleeve, so who knows. Nonetheless, things have quietened down in the surrounding blocks. Sun goes down and you get maybe ten of 'em slapping their palms against the barricades. Sometimes they get in, bite anyone they can, smash anything that is lit up and humming. You'll walk past a dark building and hear the rotters inside, chuckling to their idiot selves 'coz they managed to break a generator. The stupid things are barely being held together by zip ties and tape, doesn't take much to smash 'em. So we've got some packs of roaming vandals, no big deal. We're managing to get by day to day. --Lt Wood 16:41, 29 June 2010 (BST)

NecroWatch reported in from the Lance and Woolven Buildings today. Recent NecroNet scans had revealed that there were 54 zombies within scanning range of the facilities, after accounting for scan overlaps. Of note, there were 11 zombies at Dungey Alley Police Department, 6 zombies were standing at the Stringer Street revive point, while 4 zombies were at the Dickin Building. Meanwhile, over in Rolt Heights there were 4 zombies at St. Romuald's Church and another 3 zombies standing at the Franks Avenue revive point in Earletown. The remaining detected zombies, which were alone or in pairs, were scattered across the area. --Mobius

Things to do while in Pashenton

  • Watch a play! - The The Mist Library is famous for putting on the very first Drama Club performance of Army of Darkness. It's a great place to watch some stage entertainment, and the selection of children's books and technical manuals is one of the best in Malton. You'll definitely find something to do at the library, but don't forget to bring your library card!
  • See a tapestry! - The Carew Museum is one of Malton's finest Tapestry Museums, with exhibits of Egyptian, East Asian, and Peruvian tapestries on display. The carefully maintained museum boasts almost 750 pieces of ancient and contemporary tapestry, a "Hall of Quilts", and the Sevigny Mural, painted by inmates of the Malton Asylum. What more could you ask for?
  • Tour a crypt! - Sure, you spend every day fighting off hordes of the undead. But back in the day, crypts were cool, and only St. Luke's has one you can tour!

Barricade Policy

The initial barricade plan of Pashenton can be found here, and is current as of January 2010. Please implement it and, if you have Aps and spray cans, tag buildings with barricade levels inside and directions to nearest entry point outside.
