Roftwood Block Party 2014

Blockparty.jpg

Are you bored with nothing to do day after day? Tired of refueling the generator in the warehouse, because there is nothing else to do? Sick of the empty EHB buildings?

Come to Roftwood from July 15, 2014 until August 15, 2014 and play Urban Dead!

Announcements

  • 15 August - And the event ends in just a few hours. Did you participate? Let me know on the talk page what you thought, what was wrong, what was right. I plan to do a black box summary, should myself or anyone else do another block party in the future. If you joined in, hopefully you had some fun.
  • 6 August - Survivors are making a return to Roftwood, as such let's return to the the expanded Roftwood area. Survivors keep the revives flowing (continue doing as needed for those syringes).
  • 31 July - As we cross the halfway point, it certainly seems the zombies are steamrolling Roftwood and surrounding areas. Maybe it's time for survivors to take a C.R.A.P. on Roftwood? As for borders, just use your own judgment (not too safe, not doomed).
  • 24 July - It's a wasteland down there. Nearly all buildings are ruined and most are completely empty. Revive points are still full.
  • 17 July - We need a bigger boat. The revive points are looking full and the TRPs are looking ruined. Let's open up the expanded Roftwood area. (Need needles? Just hit your closest operational NT, where ever it might be.)
  • 14 July - Less than one day out from the start date. Load up on guns, bring your friends.
  • 8 July - One week left. Gather up your supplies and start making your plans. See you there!
  • 4 July - With less than 2 weeks till the event, it would be a great time to grab any gear you might want. I would certainly encourage survivors who arrive early to ensure there are some functioning TRPs outside of Roftwood, in case there is a need due to zombies. And a reminder, the event playing field if subject to change, but any change will be listed here as an announcement.

How it works?

Simple, the block party an event open to all players that takes place within a confined area. The event works on the honor policy, but there are a few "rules" that should be observed:

  1. Bring a single alt to Roftwood. (Standard zerging rules apply.)
  2. Do all your searching, killing, etc. inside the borders of Roftwood.1
  3. Sleep within the borders.

1 The area may be expanded depending on turn-out or to maintain survivor/zombie balance. If this occurs a message will be posted here. Radio may be used to help spread the message, but as it is an open medium there is no way to control who broadcasts what. Please verify any changes on this page.

Why should you join?

Because you are tired of: refueling the same generator, doing barricade maintenance in a suburb with no zombies, checking for someone needing revives and there never being anyone, breaching empty buildings to ruin that are reclaimed the next day, being the only zombie in an entire suburb, or any of the host of other situations that are equally as lame.
Are you an independent operator? This event will give you a chance to see some existing groups in action. Whether you want to join a group or not, most are more than happy to have friendly acquiesces. If you are a solo zombie, well zombie jesus bless you for not already quitting.
In a group or run a group? The block party should present a good opportunity for recruitment
Don't care about friends? There should still be more to do during the block party, less waiting on things to happen and more doing them.

What's in Roftwood?

Nothing special. Some forethought went into the selection, based on what different areas offered, but ultimately it just was picked.

If you are at a building in Roftwood, take the time and update its status!

Anything Else

Zombies are able to just stand up or jump worst-case scenario, Survivors need revives. If you are a survivor please consider taking some extra time to keep the revives flowing.

There are some pre-event activities taking place on the talk page, if you are able or interested in helping, give it a look.

Do you have an alt that isn't in a group? Tag yourself with "Block Party" without the quotes and let's try to hit the stats page.

Dual Nature is great and all, but any event like this would benefit from players willing to be on the losing side. Mall and NTs ruined, grab a revive and help the survivors. Everything looking too safe, jump out that window and claw. Obviously, if this isn't your cup of tea, don't worry, but if you like playing both sides, help us keep the balance.

Tips for Attendees

Have you been playing for awhile? You know what you want to do then and how to do it. Good luck.
Are you a new/low level survivor? Bring FAKs, as many as you can carry. DNA extractors should also be a good source of XP (if you have the right skill). Avoid sleeping in TRPs (mall, hospitals, PDs). If you log in to or find a breached building, run. Dying is not your friend until you get ankle grab.
Are you a new/low level zombie? Look for already open buildings, feed and then retreat. Dying cost lots of AP, so try to stay with a horde outside when you aren't playing.
