Description

Vere Cinema is in the suburb of Roftwood, along the eastern edge bordering on the Nichols Mall in Stanbury Village.

History

From the early 1900s until the 30s, the Vere cinema was well known to gentlemen of Malton and surrounding townships as a place where they could be entertained by the talented and beautiful ladies employed in the burlesque industry. When the stage acts were in decline in the early 40s, the silver screen was introduced to the Vere. Only the more risque films of the day were screened, and thanks to an addition of an after-screening lounge with copius seating, the Vere became the "ín" place to enjoy a cocktail, and be served by the most beautiful and saucy ladies in Malton. When the quarantine began, these gorgeous ladies were in the forefront of the fight and brought succour and comfort to the heroes who braved the dangerous and zombie infested streets. In fact, when the fight came to the Vere, in true Amazon style, the defenders of the Cinema fought tooth and painted nail for the cause. To this day, it is the place to unwind and be entertained by subtle and not so subtle innuendo, and cunning feminine wit.
