History

Part of the increased British interest in American cinema in the 1980s, the inauguration of Garnsey Cinema was intended to mark an upturn in the fortunes of southern Millen Hills, which was still in the grip of gang control. However, before long, screenings of First Blood and The Terminator were conducted in a narcotic haze supplied by the Rogues gang, and the cinema's reputation became known simply as yet another den for Millen's abundance of drop-outs. However, fortunately for the pockets of Garnsey's owners, the increased traffic the cinema saw as the area's dealers and users flocked to take advantage of the cover of darkness for their habits actually proved more profitable than any amount of advertising ever could have. This was to change, though, when the Rogues' stranglehold on drug dealing in the area was threatened by rival gang RDD, whose campaign of brutally violent territorial expansion was to lead to them not only pushing the Rogues from the area, but eventually carving their swathe as far south as Stickling Mall and beyond. The Rogues' last real stand in this bloody conflict was to be in the main screen of Garnsey, as Rogues leaders Luther and Cropsey tried to hastily unload enough product to fund some hired muscle. Under the stern glare of Gordon Gekko, the prospective buyers they had sourced drew automatic weapons and opened fire, annhilating the last half-dozen of the Rogues, losing only two of their number to return fire. With this stealthy strike, RDD had all at once siezed control of Millen Hills, given their review of Wall Street (it blew the crowd away), and redecorated the cinema free of charge.

Today, in deference to their glory days before the outbreak, Garnsey Cinema still acts as a base of operations of sorts for the remnants of RDD, again taking advantage of its darkened screens to hide their dealings - and even now, the occasional surprise gunfight resounds echoing through the building, as hunter and hunted alike continue their war as the living dead tear down the cinema's crumbling facades.
