- I'll reply on your talk page if you contact me here.

- For any users posting a sixth (or, indeed, seventh or beyond) topic on this page, full permission is granted to move the oldest topic in its entirety to the relevant archive.
- Not that any of you will ever do it, but it's worth disclaimer-ing it to avoid unnecessary A/VB shitepipery.
Apology
I am sorry for anything said on my talk page, I am an asshole and it somehow ends up on the wiki. I can't blame it on anything other than my lack of respect to others, and myself for the choices I make before I log in. I have made an effort to not allow myself to do any drugs that may alter my personality before logging on. Some of the things I have said on here do sound harsh, and for that I am sorry.--Dirty 10:10, 5 June 2010 (BST)
- Dude, don't sweat it. It's cool. 18:51, 5 June 2010 (BST)
- I have a couple pages I need deleated Userbonghit420/sig2 and User:Bonghit420/Agunin_Anoven and Ackland Mall Noise Abatement Society and Kinch Heights Dead/Recruitment and Kinch Heights Dead/Roster I don't know where to put them to have them deleated--Raddox MurTangle 20:51, 8 June 2010 (BST)
Well, that was today's laugh
Welcome to the wiki
Hi Furniture! As we can see, you made your first edits to this wiki not long ago.
4-5 years is "not long ago" now? Hah! Furniture 19:37, 5 June 2010 (BST)
About Welcomenewbie Templates
Just as an FYI, we have a shit-ton of research that shows that greeting new users with templates is worse than personalized messages that insult them when it comes to encouraging new user contribution. Like, it actively causes them to leave.
I'm not sure how much of that research we're allowed to publish (it wasn't done by us at the Wikimedia Foundation, but by some dudes at Carnegie-Mellon and the University of Minnesota), but I'll see if I can't find it for you.--Jorm 02:21, 8 June 2010 (BST)
- Really? I do make sure I don't just add the template and sign it, there's also a message with my talk link and the like in it. If you wanna fire it privately in case it's not cool to publish it there should be an email address for me here. I've been wanting to overhaul the template before anyway, but I was mainly wanting to compress it to look less imposing. Might be worth looking into an alternative. 02:31, 8 June 2010 (BST)
- So, I guess it's not a secret or anything since they published it themselves here.
- It's quite a wall of academic-ese, but they (the authors) flew into SF last week and talked with us (the design team at Wikipedia) about various things we can do to avoid "newbie death." It pretty much boils down to this: the very first interaction a new user has with a wiki's community will drive EVERY. SINGLE. interaction thereafter. If a newbie's first edit gets reverted - especially without a comment on their talk page about it - they're gone. It's a near 100% loss rate. There are a couple other documents out there I can probably swing you if you want.
- We're "not for profit" so all our research goes public eventually but sometimes its time sensitive.--Jorm 03:37, 8 June 2010 (BST)
- See my first talk interaction was having Ross drop WN on me, but then again I was hardly a stranger to web communities or even wikis at that point. Given that it's twenty to four in the morning I'm gonna leave that doc for now, skim it tomorrow, but does it suggest anything in preference to auto-drop templates? I'd toyed with the idea of making a batch of actual greetings as userpages in my namespace and substing them one at a time so as to keep a bit of variance and retain all the relevant links in a welcome. Basically an expanded version of my standard addendum to the template, only with maybe four or five differently worded versions to remove the sense of repetition. 03:44, 8 June 2010 (BST)
- I think every greeting person should have their own personalized message. That'd be cool.-- 03:55, 8 June 2010 (BST)
- Yeah, some people do that, Mis does it and I do when I WN. But most don't. --
- I always add a few lines after the template, but I'm going to whip up a few fuller paragraphs to use in future, incorporating the template's main points in the body of the text. 04:00, 8 June 2010 (BST)
- I had a project that tried to compress the points of WN into a smaller box, but I gave it up. BTW, can you plz arbie my case, you're my first pick. --
- Say pretty please. 04:05, 8 June 2010 (BST)
- Pretty please? And you should sleep more because your new page you just made is all bonked up. -- 04:08, 8 June 2010 (BST)

you didn't specify an email on this account ;( --

- I strongly urge you to stop with sonny, you've already rolled him enough, he'll never stop. pls. --
- That guy has a serious bug up his butt. -- 06:32, 8 June 2010 (BST)
- DDR, I'm having fun watching him stumble like a spastic child, I don't feel the urge to stop undermining whatever fragile sense of worth he might have been clinging to. And yeah, Jordan, it's pretty much the first thing most people learn from sonny bunny is his extreme anger at the fact that he hasn't succeeded in anything worthwhile since he learnt to tie his shoes all by his lonesone. 06:33, 8 June 2010 (BST)
- I feel bad for him. Let's invite him over to our table. I don't think it will hurt our popularity much. -- 06:38, 8 June 2010 (BST)
- Well that's what I was trying to do... 06:39, 8 June 2010 (BST)
- That's fine. It's just going down a similar road that I did last night which apparently makes me a SUPER TERRIBLE DRAMA MAN even though the only people who have gone against it have admitted that it was only because they thought the drama was too much, not that Boxy made the right choice and I the wrong, and they choose to disregard the months and months of good work I've done... Sigh. Some people are idiots. The point is, you have the high ground as you've always had, you should keep it that way imo. -- 06:43, 8 June 2010 (BST)
