Description

This library is located in the suburb of Dakerstown which is located in the NW corner of the city.

History

The Bourdillon Library was built in 1950, during the post-war reconstruction of Malton, and named for British poet Francis W Bourdillon, best known for his poem, The Night has a Thousand Eyes.

The night has a thousand eyes,

 And the day but one;

Yet the light of the bright world dies

 With the dying sun.

The mind has a thousand eyes,

 And the heart but one;

Yet the light of a whole life dies

 When love is done.

Barricade Policy

According to the Dakerstown barricade plan, here this building should be maintained at EHB.
