About the name

Needs moar NPOV and a better name, "Battle of Barhapolis" is quite crap, if you ask me. I am aware that it's still in construction and that you asked TKS for a survivor viewpoint but still...

A decent name needs to be decided between the Survivors and Zeds and the RRF Propaganda poster needs to be taken down.

This has been Rddr speaking and he can't be arsed putting the time, date or a link to his own page here.

While i may be monstrously biased, survivors have been calling this "The battle of the kilt" since the beginning of the siege, and by survivors, i do mean the population in general inside the mall. I'm not sure what's been commonplace on the other side of the 'cades though.--DDRJake 19:39, 14 June 2008 (BST)
It's been extremely enjoyable fighting this on The Kilt Store's side. A good siege, all around...and quite fitting that the downfall would begin on Friday the 13th. Fun times, my friends. Fun times indeed. --Goolina The Kilt Store 20:15, 14 June 2008 (BST)
The survivors have been using one name, the zombies have been using another. Why not just go for both like with Barhah/Caiger Mall? --LOLosaurus 04:41, 15 June 2008 (BST)

Trying to get a NPOV on this battle will be like trying to play jenga with your elbows...--DDRJake 20:19, 14 June 2008 (BST)

NPOV leads to dry boredom. If we're concerned enough, just state that RRF and allies knew it as the Battle of Barhapolis and the survivors "The battle of the kilt". ~ to all involved, this was a very classy siege, congrads to all involved. Zombies were their usual awesomeness, and Harmans, you truly were man enough to wear the man-skirt. --Danalov 04:44, 15 June 2008 (BST)

Zombies win the battle, zombies get to name the battle. Winners write history, etc., etc. Just ask C4NT. I added re-directs that point here, however.--Insomniac By Choice 07:59, 15 June 2008 (BST)

Author notes from the front page, moved here since it's causing a bit of a ruckus there. --Aeon17x 11:03, 15 June 2008 (BST)

Note: This is a rough draft I started a few weeks ago and neglected. I'm still updating it now, but I figured might as well post it since the Battle is rapidly coming to an end. -- Murray Jay Suskind 17:46, 14 June 2008 (BST)
Another Note: This siege was known by two different names, depending on which side of the cades you stood. The Zombie groups know it as The Battle of Barhapolis and the Survivor groups know it as The Battle of the Kilt. How will you remember it? The choice is yours and yours alone.--Xebulba 07:40, 15 June 2008 (BST)

Well, I was at the mall, and never once heard "Battle of the Kilt"'. The Fortress and myself are going with Battle of Barhahpolis, you can get over something stupid like the name. As a general rule, the winner normally can choose the name unless there was already one being used... --Private Mendoza 19:51, 15 June 2008 (BST)

I just knew it by the name of the operation that brought my team there. Zombies technically won so I guess they can name it. *Clint Clintstone* Talk12:34 PM 30 August 2008 (EST)

Failure of the RRF?

Okay, that part is going to be re-worked by me. There were over a dozen survivor groups in the battle and at the end over 700 breathers in the area. There has been the most ridiculous double standard against the RRF for the longest time where it's okay for dozens of survivor groups to team up on us, but the second we ask for another horde to come around we're somehow admitting failure. If there was, say, one survivor group holding us out, then maybe you'd have a valid point. As far as POV goes, I understand taking down the propaganda poster, but the account itself was about as straightforward as possible from the zombie side. I readily admit a harman perspective needs to be added, but I'd hesitate to delete anything. -- Murray Jay Suskind 00:19, 15 June 2008 (BST)

If you are going to re-work it why don't you change the name while you're at it. I may be a member of The Kilt Store but I did not, and will never, see a "failure" by either the Zombies or the Survivors. This was a definitive example of what a siege is truly about. Both sides came to a stale mate after realizing they were more or less evenly matched. In an attempt to break through this newly found barrier, BOTH sides called in re-enforcements to try and sway the battle in their prospective directions. As numbers climbed on both sides of the barricades the Zombies repeatedly broke through but were pushed back by the Survivors. Another stale mate was reached between the groups due to poor communication/organization of attack/defense tactics and times. The deciding factor in this battle was the arrival of LUE, period. In my opinion both groups worked together with their own ranks to the best of their abilities and came to realize that whits were evenly matched. If the Survivors had access to, or thought to call in, a large group with the organization and efficiency of LUE, then the results of this siege would have decidedly been reversed. If anything was learned in this epic battle it was that BOTH groups are EQUAL to one another in their abilities to work towards their own goals.--Xebulba 06:23, 15 June 2008 (BST)
Right, which is why I switched everything from "The RRF failed and called in LUE." To the more reasonable and honest explanation that both sides called in reinforcements to try and break the stalemate. I treated LUE as a separate factor, because they were obviously the deciding factor and deserve credit for that. As far as having a survivor group as large and well-coordinated as LUE, it has happened before, but no one's chalking it up to survivor failure that they can't equal those past successes. It's just the way the ball bounces. So we might as well keep the more straightforward description of both sides calling in reinforcements and treat LUE's particular role in deciding the battle as a separate factor. -- Murray Jay Suskind 17:52, 15 June 2008 (BST)

SIM

For added spice you might be interested in the SIM image of the area during the conflict, a particularly good revision is 07:15, 15 June 2008, uploaded by Swiers. The mall should be obvious, it's the bright yellow four square block, bright yellow indicates 50+ survivors and 50+ zombies standing in a block. So you've got that for all four mall corners. The interpretation of that data is up to you lot.

Might make a nice picture(s) somewhere in the article, just be sure to link to the archived image or upload a copy somewhere else or the page will show the current image which isn't what you want. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 13:52, 15 June 2008 (BST)

Survivor Leader Sign-up Sheet

Just saw how survivors were supposed to leave their name and group here, but in this mess I don't think anyone would see it. Just put your name, the group you helped lead, and when you arrived in the mall. (No talking please)

I was one of the main guys. I was coordinating with The CCs and ACC. I led The Umbrella Corporation. Shall I add my name to the page? Oh, and I can't see the human participants. --Haliman111 T OP UC 01:36, 1 July 2008 (BST)

I led Team Battlehawk of the Fortress for the duration of the operation which were were calling "Vacation" because of the numerous side operations I had running. *Clint Clintstone* Talk12:36 PM 30 August 2008 (EST)

Other Factors in the Seige?

From the perspective of a lowly bra!nz muncher outside the NE corner, i noticed many harmanz wasted alot of AP and ammo being trenchies and killing us outside the mall, which could be a factor in the seige. Did survivors notice any inefficient AP use by zombies during the seige? (in the interest of NPOV)? although its harder to come across zombie trenchcoaters, i'm sure.--Danalov 02:36, 17 June 2008 (BST)

Nah, we weren't trenchcoating, we were playing a game that we do every so often to see how long we can go killing 1 zed every hour. =p

Not sure who made that comment but I think I have a good idea. I meant for this operation to be extra fun for Team Battlehawk so I made numerous side missions. One was as simple as a kilt fashion show but another included a challenge to deliver a kill shot with each of the pieces of sporting equipment. Some members of the team may have gone outside to complete the challenge if there were no zombies inside. Considering there are only 8 pieces of sporting equipment it doesn't add to much. *Clint Clintstone* Talk12:43 PM 30 August 2008 (EST)

Template?

Can somebody make a template for this battle? It was a highlight of my career and I think it deserves special mention. *Clint Clintstone* Talk12:45 PM 30 August 2008 (EST)

I agree! This was the most fun siege I ever been in!This siege for me,is what Urban Dead is about:Hundred of survivors fighting hordes of zombies and their Pker allies, locked in a brutal battle for control of the the area.Once when I died there while the siege was still going on,I went to Yeoman Park to get revived and while I was waiting i noticed there was a HUGE amount of Zking outside the NT building, while at the revive point saw like 20 people being revived in an hour.Once I got revived the soon NT building fell and when i went to check on the NT building's status (seeing how many zeds where inside.)I found two guys attempting to clear it out.Since I had enough AP and ammo,I began gunning down zeds (I got at least 5 kills.)Then a zed said "Mrh?" and one of the surviviors revived him and he thanked us and began killing the zombies.Unfortunately,I was low on ap and ammo and told them I had to retreat. But still,I found the siege to be the most fun i've ever had in any computer or video game, and I've played Too Human,Runescape,Gears of War,Halo 3,The Elder Scrolls 4:Oblivion,F.E.A.R.,Bioshock,The Orange Box,Shadow of the Collosus,Mass Effect,Kingdom Hearts 2,and for some reason none of those could compare to the moments I had in that siege. So someone please make a template!--Gamestriker4 16:35, 20 September 2008 (BST)
