Life in Malton is a Wargame

The Friends of the Featherstone Library is a survivor group whose members call the Featherstone Library in Pescodside our home. If that last revelation surprised you we recommend that you sit down before reading anything else. Our group holds the library in honor of wargaming pioneer Donald Featherstone, after whom the library is named and as the primary location of Malton's thriving wargaming hobby.

The FotFL group is probably best known for their love of all war games and the careful application of said war game tactics to real life survival in Pescodside. The group pines for the day when the military will finally send in tanks, heavy artillery, and aerial support into Malton, so that they can try their hand at more advanced tactics. While the FotFL wait for this day they continue to do a good job of protecting their home suburb from all manner of zombie hordes and murderers.

In mid-2006 the FotFL decided that it would be in their best interests to join the newly formed Dulston Alliance, an organization formed from several survivor groups located in Dulston, but whose influence extended into the surrounding suburbs of the NE Corner. Afterwards for the FotFL it was back to business as usual, but as far as the other Alliance member groups were concerned, they all knew that it was thanks to the continued efforts of the FotFL that the Alliance's protection extended as far south as it does today.

In March 2008 the FotFL re-evaluated there role within the Dulston Alliance and realized that much had changed since those early days back in 2006. Weighing recent events and their own role in them, the FotFL decided that it was time for their group to part ways with the Alliance so they could find their own path. As such, these days the FotFL continue to hunt local criminals and protect Pescodside, but this time by their own rules.

Group Status

Group Formed: January 14th, 2006

Current Location: Most members are in the area around the Featherstone Library.

Learn More About Us

Here are a few important facts that any survivor in Pescodside should know about Friends of the Featherstone Library:

  1. We are pro-survivor, possibly pro-library, but definitely pro-wargamer.
  2. We are anti-zombie, because in a city full of flesh-eating abominations that's just common sense.
  3. We are anti-PKer (read below), because we enjoy educating any fools who ignore the obvious zombie threat.
  4. In plain English, replace "educating" with "executing" and "fools" with "PKers". Because seriously, they're messed up in the head.

The Anti-PKer Doctrine

You might have been in a building where one of our members killed someone or maybe you might have been killed by one of us, and were left wondering, "Why did they kill me?". Please note we only kill other survivors for one or more of the following reasons:

  1. You attacked one of our members.
  2. You attacked one of our allies (i.e. the Burchell Arms Regulars).
  3. You are a known PKer, GKer, or Griefer.
  4. You are a member of a known PKer group.

No doubt some of you may whine about not having any bounties on your head in the Rogues Gallery. Well we couldn't care less as we don't use the Rogues Gallery or obey its rules. The Friends of the Featherstone Library uphold order in Pescodside and if you've committed one of the crimes we've listed then you most certainly deserve the punishment coming your way.

White Paper: The Rogues Gallery

In short, we think the Rogues Gallery is a worthless tool. We do not recognize the validity of any bounties other than those on the Dulston Alliance Black List. It is the only one that can be trusted to be accurate as we know our real enemies.

Lists, such as the Rogue's Gallery, are full of discrepancies. Did you ever notice that some of the people reporting being PKed are in fact known PKers or members of known PKer groups?!?

Why should upstanding citizens have to do all the work of providing proof of being killed, saving screenshots, or posting to this or that forum after they've been killed by a PKer? Don't we have the same rights as the PKer who walks into a building and shoots us first for no reason? You are damn right we do and we exercise that right on a daily basis.

We feel these public bounty lists are more helpful to PKers than to the rest of the population. Honest hard working citizens get reported on this list for defending themselves and then some "bounty hunter" spots their name and kills them simply because they were on "the list". Huh?

Group Radio Frequency

know what you are talking about Short-wave Radio Info
This group or location has a dedicated radio frequency.

Frequency: 26.36 MHz
Transmitter Coordinates:
Pescodside: [90,10]-[99,10]-[90,19]-[99,19]

The Friends of the Featherstone Library monitor frequency 26.36 MHz for updates and requests for assistance. It should be noted that the frequency is the official Dulston Alliance radio frequency and is a good means of passing information on any survivors charged with murder, but should all facts of this nature should be verified first. Keep in mind this channel should not be used for general discussion or anything but vital suburb defense communications.

March 20th, 2008 - This just in... After a grueling debate among the slection committee the lucky PKer to be sacrified in Don's honor is no other than.... Karloth Vois! I, Shotgun Ed, wish to personally thank the Red Rum bigwig who so graciously partook in today's celebration [polite golf clap from crowd follows announcement]. Let's do it again next year!

March 20th, 2008 - Today is Donald Featherstone's 90th birthday! To honor Don the Friends of the Featherstone Library own Shotgun Ed and the Burchell Arms Regulars Tommy Monahan have both agreed to continue their alliance. To cap off the day long celebration FOTFL will select one lucky PKer in the area to be a suitable sacrifice to honor Don's birthday.

March 19th, 2008 - At this time Friends of the Featherstone Library is announcing that we will be leaving the Dulston Alliance effective immediately.

Friends of the Featherstone Library (FOTFL) were one of the first groups to join the Dulston Alliance almost two years ago. During that time we have helped defend the greater Dulston area against three huge zombie mall crawls and numerous well planned and organized PKer events. We have rightfully earned out reputation as relentless PKer hunters in defense of not only our own group but the Dulston Alliance as well as the general population of northeastern Malton.

FOTFL always heeded the call of any group in the alliance or group that is allied with the Dulston Alliance. We never have nor will we ever back down from a fight.

We wish the Dulston Alliance groups, new and old, the best of luck and thank them for their service alongside FOTFL.

Regards,

Shotgun Ed Friends of the Featherstone Library
