#'''Dupe''' - Not different enough from [[Suggestion:20080806 Throwing Items | the first version]]: it just includes zombies now and has a spiffy-looking table now. Big deal. Suggestion description
From the previous version:
Why drop when you can throw?
With this adjustment, anyone can throw the useless junk they've accumulated over their UD life/lives at anyone/anything of their choosing!
You now get the option to 'Throw' items. It would appear beside 'Drop', but would have 2 drop-down boxes. The first drop-down would indicate an item to throw, the second to indicate a target to throw at.
A thrown item's accuracy and damage depends on its encumberance level. Damage dealt is its encumberance divided by 5 and rounded to the nearest number, except for knives which will do 2 damage upon throwing and axes which do 3.
Your accuracy is at a base level of 20% for items below 10% encumberance, 15% for those between 10% and 19% encumberance inclusive, and 5% for items at or above 20% encumberance. Any skill that increases your punch/claw attack accuracy (Hand-to-Hand Combat, Vigour Mortis etc.) also increases your throw accuracy. (but, only if you're a valid skill user, for instance Vigour Mortis won't help survivors to throw items)
New to this version of Throw, if you do not have any valid throwable items on you (say, if you started out as a zombie, or have already thrown all your items), you can pick up decorative items and throw 'em. Who knows, perhaps that glass statue you put up in the food court might just save you from a zombie. Or, the zombie might not like your taste in art and try to toss it at you. Tossing a decorative item will give a zombie XP just as if they had ripped it apart themselves, with the extra XP added for a successful attack and possible kill as usual.
Throwing a decorative item already placed in a room requires 2 AP. 1 to pick up, another to throw. All decorative items in the room would appear in your 'items to throw' drop-down menu, except they would indicate the extra AP you would need to spend to throw them, by having the item listed in italics. Both AP would be spent simultaneously, without the need for extra input.
Before people start complaining that this would be too hard to do server-wise, I would like to point out that since an item's encumberance never changes, the calculations for accuracy and damage can be done when first adding the item, and only need to be referenced when making the attack.
Please note that this suggestion, this suggestion and this suggestion are different to this one, in that they are survivor-exclusive, while this one allows zombies to throw items too. Also, this is the original version of this suggestion, so it can't be counted as a dupe, either.
Here is a table listing items, accuracy values and damage counts:
