Strategy

I have a proposal for all the survivors of Borehamwood. In order to keep the zombies from winning just like they did in Monroeville, I suggest that we form a "supra-coalition" or something of the sort. My proposal is to add every non-PKer/GK-er/Death Cultist human that one crosses paths with into a list of contacts with the same color. With this, we will know who our true allies are. Then, once one dies, humans will be able to recognize zombies and vice versa. All survivors should pledge not to attack humans if they die, and humans in return should not attack zombies that they recognize from the contact list. This way, humans actually have a shot at surviving as they are left at a huge disadvantage due to the lack of revives. This would balance the game out a bit by keeping humans on an even ground with those who actually start off as zombies. --Ragrillo 01:07, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

River

I confirm the existence of a river. Screenshot coming. --Skritz

Does it effect movement? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:41, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
You can pass through the firts few tiles into the river normally, but the deeper areas are impassible. --Hunter X 20:22, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

I forgot to save message, but it was saying that "it's getting too deep". template for location-blocking for the passable is {{river76}} (it's lighter) and impassable {{river85}} (it's darker) --~~~~ [talk] 22:46, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

i'm pretty sure the river is the border. quite witty, don't you find? --~~~~ [talk] 22:49, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

The river is used by Riq in tonights episode of Dead Set - Shaft121 16:02, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Big Brother House

I wonder if it will follow the general layout as shown here: http://www.backdrifts.co.uk/bro.JPG ? I think I'll head for the south east. Iggles 11:22, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

I think the map will be a lot smaller, since the competition is to end in one month. Maybe 3x4 or 4x4? We already know that it will be at least 3x3 (district names "<cardinaldirection> Borehamwood", but there is also Elstree, which is located southwest from Borehamwood. --Tybalt Peroni 11:45, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
That didn't mean much in Monroeville. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 11:46, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Looking at the map there might be a railway station in west or south-west Borehamwood --William2 17:36, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Probably. There is a long train line. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 22:09, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
There's a railway station in SW BHW. "Elstre and Borehamwood Station." [1] --Jen 22:14, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Creation

I've replaced the blurb by Link The Window with some of the details we currently know. I've based it (read stolen from) on the Monroeville page. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 09:48, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

No worries. That blurb was meant to be a stopgap anyway until more information was known. Linkthewindow Talk 21:03, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Automapper

Anyone know if a Firefox Automapper is being set up for Borehamwood? --Hunter X 10:05, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

User:Duke Garland made one for Monroe so ask him i guess.--xoxo 09:54, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
I set up a crude copy of the Malton Map, so we can add whatever we find. So far, I've seen a lot of fields and rivers. --Hunter X 10:05, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
I doubt the city follows that structure. Check out the Monroeville map, it'll more likely resemble that. --xoxo 10:16, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
There are alot of new things. Read found a gas station. I found a huge North to South railroad. I never made it to the end. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 10:20, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
We're talking about the map....but ja i saw those things too, fuckwit. Nah lol you're alright.--xoxo 10:28, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
It was a "petrol station", also, the pubs aren't just called "Blah Arms", they have full names, one was "The Boars Head". I don't know if this was a feature in Monroeville coz I rage quitted that shitness--CyberRead240 11:09, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Petrol stations appear to start doors wide open. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 13:15, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Found a newspaper too (after using 15AP I ended up with 5 FAK's and one Newspaper). It's a recent tabloid. The main story seems to be about Marky from Big Brother. - User:Whitehouse 14:48, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

relationships

South B starts at y=66. Directly below central B. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 13:13, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

South B also starts at x=544, (unsurprisingly) directly east of SW B. --Tybalt Peroni 16:11, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
I have aligned South B suburb map so that location1 starts at 544-66, but I'm running out of the 10x10 grid to the south. I'll rest a bit and try to find southern border. --Tybalt Peroni 16:19, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Obvious

Petrol stations contain fuel cans. I know. Amazing. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 13:19, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

CCTV

Not sure if this is unique to Borehamwood, but it's the first time I've noticed them.

In an unlit side room, you can see a darkened CCTV console. inside Grinter Terrace Police Station.

Mounted on the walls of the building are several CCTV cameras. outside Bewsey Grove Police Station.

A defunct cashpoint machine has a CCTV camera mounted above it. outside Haselshaw Bank.

I guess they are most likely just for flavor purposes. - User:Whitehouse 14:29, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

There was one outside the O'lEary building as well.--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 14:34, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
I've seen several of them as well, with CCTV consoles mostly in police stations. A wild idea is, that once they are powered, we will be able to peek inside of the Big Brother house (check wikipedia for Dead Set episodes short synopsis, in one of them a character from outside does just that. Although, this being CCTV system, it will probably only monitor few nearby cameras. --Tybalt Peroni 16:09, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
I think I found one in a street --William2 16:53, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Yup, they're out there as well. --Jen 17:58, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

A battered portable generator has been set up here. It is running, and powering a dented radio transmitter that's currently set to 27.56 MHz. In a side room, you can see the glowing screen of a CCTV console.

Button "View CCTV" produces:

The console is showing a view of Denney Lane.

Button "Switch CCTV camera":

The screen flickers, and the console shows a view of Craddy Road.

Neither Denney Lane nor Craddy Road are amongst 1-block-away streets. --~~~~ [talk] 19:49, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Map Relations

So. Weve got all the compass points for Borehamwood now. What about these other 3 locations. Anyone know where they are in relation? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 15:13, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

They are also bigger than 10*10 areas. Please god automap! --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 15:24, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Jens scouting suggests 15*15 areas, with all the west being transected by a railway line. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 17:42, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
I dunno...I'd bet it's probably more like Monroeville, with all sorts of crazy boundaries. :( A nice clean 15x15 would be much easier to figure out, though, so I hope you're right.
In either case...BWHAHAHA! ANOTHER HARDCORE MAP! I think I'm going to be abandoning Malton for a while... :D --Jen 17:49, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Yep. If extinction overtake the pask building today, we'll know why. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 17:50, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Ive created the Template:Railway so it can be mapped. Garages are the same as autorepairs aren't they? Not as garages, its just how theyve been marked on some maps. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 18:51, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

I set up a basic grid on the map - it doesn't update dangers - but it will almost certainly need expanding and moving. --Hunter X 18:58, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Its a start though. I'll add a note. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:00, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Suburb Templates

At the moment they're all geared towards Malton, and as such are full of non relevant stuff. Ive stolen some basic stuff from the monroeville maps and mocked up a basic one for Northwest Borehamwood (Just altered the template code and pasted it) improve, or steal the code, whatever. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:29, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Main Page

Can someone with the appropriate privilages add a link to Borehamwood on the index of the wiki please? --Hunter X 20:24, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Dont know if anyone is online. Ive added a link in the news section at the top of the page for now, --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:32, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Mall?

If anyone finds a mall I and probably a lot of other people would like to know. So if you find one, post here and tell us which part of the city it's in. Thanks. --Robert Riste 22:38, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

I managed to stumble upon Borehamwood Shopping Centre, in East Borehamwood. Here's a screenshot: http://iwrecords.urbandead.info/10-29-08_0300hrs_PRIVATE/OUT_570-56_1_4df-b3e-439.html.
by the way, it's coordinates are from 570-56 to 571-67. --~~~~ [talk] 08:56, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
There's one about 6 squares into North Borhamwood too, which is labelled "Supermarket". I think it was due north of Gamis Lane (Central Borhamwood), if not, it's within a square or two either way, and no more than about 10 into North. (Sorry I can't be more precise, I wasn't paying enough attention when I walked past) - Ricold 22:16, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
i've got that on my map too. By the way, it looks like it's slight different from common malls, maybe eve mechanic-wise... --~~~~ [talk] 07:32, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Bloodied Eye

My most sincere apologies if this has already been posted or if I am doing this incorrectly. Has anyone else seen a Bloodied Eye spraypainted on a wall? Here is a screenshot: http://img266.imageshack.us/my.php?image=36738052ls1.png

Yes, check the article, "Playing in Borehamwood" section, near the top. I have seen several of those across the city. --Tybalt Peroni 00:29, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Ruined Abbey

There's a new building type, the ruined abbey. I don't know if it's the only one, but it's located in East BHW. it's 2x2.

It's strange. I can't close its doors - there's not button for it - but I did successfully barricade it with a length of pipe.

http://iwrecords.urbandead.info/10-29-08_1600hrs_PUBLIC/IN_581-65_pipe_505-d80-979.html Leon Rosenfeld 16:52, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

the fact that you barricaded it with a pipe looks like a good thing to write about on Bug Reports --~~~~ [talk] 21:58, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
This can be seen in tonights episode of Dead Set when Riq lands from the boat - Shaft121 16:01, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

The North West corner

Looking at Dukes map does Northwest Borehamwood extend all the way to the NW corner? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 22:37, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

North west? you mean upper left? ;) --xoxo 05:18, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Amusing Locations in Borehamwood

Hiaz. If you seen any potential ALiB lolcations please feel free to add them to the list! Similiar to ALiMv, ALiB operates around a temporary town so there's no requirements or community consultation, if you think it's funny chuck it on the list! --xoxo 06:06, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Naming whilst mapping

By and large there will be no location pages for individual locations (that is specific named places rather than generic buildings such as "a factory") in Borehamwood yet.

If our intrepid mappers could please check their links after they update their entries, if their link is blue (i.e. live) then chances are that it's a name already used by a place in Malton. As per wiki naming conventions the link should be altered.

For example, The Shiel Building is in both Malton and West Borehamwood.

The link [[The Shiel Building]] directs a user to The Shiel Building in Malton.

The Borehamwood link should be rendered as [[The Shiel Building (Borehamwood)|The Shiel Building]] which will be a red (i.e. dead) link until the page is created, for example The Shiel Building.

In time disambiguation pages will need to be made to allow users to find the two locations from one search, and utilising these naming conventions now will allow us to find them easier to perform these tasks.

Doing this helps the newbies find where there are, especially players who have come aboard with this new promotion and may not yet be familiar with Malton.

Cross posting this to all Borehamwood suburb talk pages so that everyone sees it.

Cheers. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 11:08, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

IMHO wikilinks should be removed from maps. I insisted on it for Monroeville and want to have the same here. City is temporary, no autoblocking, please. big locations, like Mall, ruined abbey, etc. - fine, just like articles from Category:Monroeville Complexes --~~~~ [talk] 12:47, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
I agree, no wikilinks by default. Anyone can add a wikilink later, if they feel the building is important (group HQ or something). --Tybalt Peroni 13:01, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Sure thing it'd be much easier and faster. Should the wikilinks to "a factory", "a carpark" etc. be removed as well? --Janus Abernathy 13:29, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
I'd say lose them all!--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:24, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

I would like to ask everybody who finds the location of the big brother building to NOT tell where it is. Let others find it on their own. --People's Commissar Hagnat talk 15:53, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

So what do you expect the mappers to do when it's found? Leave a big blank on the map? Seriously, someone post it soon so I can enter the competition and get on with actually playing. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Big Brother House does not appear to be in the South East corner of the map just so everyone knows. In fact, all that appears to be there are fields. I spent most of my points trying to return to society. Would have gotten there much sooner had the river not been in my way. --Gamee Shark 19:48, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Judging by the news reports on the Borehamwood page, the house is somewhere in South Borehamwood. --Hunter X 08:33, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
