You might also want to include under the constraints no templates, such as the color one. {{c|COLOR|TEXT}}. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:30, 4 July 2007 (BST)

Bah, nevermind it seems they are allowed, you just have to use them wisely. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 08:01, 4 July 2007 (BST)

I'm not fussed if people do use templates, however obviously they won't get marked as well as they could have if they had used a non-templated form. - JedazΣT 04:08, 5 July 2007 (BST)

And does the 250 characters include spaces? 'arm. 06:45, 4 July 2007 (BST)

A space is not a character, so no. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 07:24, 4 July 2007 (BST)
Actualy a space is a character. I'll clarify it for people who arn't use to the idea. - JedazΣT 04:08, 5 July 2007 (BST)
So all I have to do is create a sig in red and put it under "submissions?" And does it have to be your username? Meh, I'm not creative with usernames regardless, as you can see. :( --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 04:15, 5 July 2007 (BST) One more thing, how can you tell if it looks the same in major browsers? I have only Firefox and Safari.
Well yes and no, you do have to create a signature, but it doesn't all have to be in red, just a part of it does. As for the username, you don't have to. I've told people to link to the example page as the main handle so that no one gets an advantage by the other guy having a super long username, but you can title the link however you want, of course when submitting you have to use a level 3 heading with your username so that we know who made the signature.
It also has to follow the other two constraints of being less then 250 characters, and to get the sub effect. As for testing in the major browsers for the most part they all look the same, the only noticable difference is when you check it between Internet Explorer and just about any other browser. So if you can test it in IE, FireFox and Safari then you should be safe. I hope that answers your question. - JedazΣT 04:30, 5 July 2007 (BST)
Why 250 chars? Wikipedia is 255, why not add 5 more? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 12:03, 17 July 2007 (BST)

Seeing the time of when this competition ends might confuse some users...whose 23:59 will it be? Yours or mine? Or lets put it on wiki time, BST. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:12, 8 July 2007 (BST)

Oh, heh sorry. I meant wiki time, I'll clarify that. - If Jedaz = 04:00, 9 July 2007 (BST) then pi = 3
Wouldn't it have been easier to just put down BST instead of wiki time? Whatever... --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 17:43, 16 July 2007 (BST)
Eh, well I'm not really going to worry about if people submit one or two hours late. It doens't really make a major difference in the end. Anyway at the moment I'm more concerned about not having enough entrants. - If Jedaz = 03:09, 17 July 2007 (BST) then pi = 3
Meh, I'm pretty much done, I've just got to submit it or do a few tweaks first. I think we have a few entrants still Jedaz, no need to worry. And I think the part about looking the same in different browsers is a bit unfair - they all render differently. Even the regular wiki formatting can look different from ie to ff. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 04:23, 17 July 2007 (BST)
It's true. IE is a peice of shit that doesn't even follow established web standards of how to render properly. Web developers hate writing for it, since 'writing for it' is actually trying to take account of its deficiencies and include code and work-arounds to be applied if the user browser is IE only. I found a whole bunch of stuff about it here a few months ago. (That section gives a good short overview, as the main page is pretty long.) 'arm. 04:54, 17 July 2007 (BST)
I know, that's why I've made that statement. Same goes for Safari, as it still renders wikimarkup kinda weird. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 07:52, 17 July 2007 (BST)
Thats fair enough, however it only needs to be reasonably close. I understand that not every browser is going to display the same content in the same way, and as of such it's not going to be a major issue if it's not *exactly* the same. However if someone does make it display the same then they are going to do slightly better then their counterpart who doesn't. Anyway this isn't unfair in the end really because everyone who enters the competition has to keep that in mind. Plus really, if you are designing a signature don't you want it to look the same no matter whos viewing it? - If Jedaz = 09:08, 17 July 2007 (BST) then pi = 3
To be honest, no not really. I didn't know for ages until I looked at it in ie6, that my sig was really, really bold. Plus the 'verdana' font (that is an html standard font btw) looked retarted compared to it rendered in FF. But as long as it looked the way I wanted it in FF 2.whatever, I was happy. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 11:35, 17 July 2007 (BST)
Fair enough, maybe it's just me then =P I guess everyone has a different opinion about this kind of stuff. But the criteria still stands about it working in most major browsers because this competition is about good design choices, and that includes compensating for inferior products like IE. - If Jedaz = 15:33, 17 July 2007 (BST) then pi = 3

Judges

I'm no good with creativity from scratch :(. So I'm going to have to ask to be a judge :). 'arm. 07:44, 4 July 2007 (BST)

Should be fine. I'll make a list and add you to it. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 07:52, 4 July 2007 (BST)
Heh, yep it is. I should add myself as well... - JedazΣT 04:08, 5 July 2007 (BST)
Oh, go ahead Jedaz. You should make a cool sig! Yours are nice, but.... so damn looooooonnnnnggg! (in code). --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 12:04, 17 July 2007 (BST)

Can we add more judges? 2 just seems too low for my liking. I'll take a look at scoring the signatures though. 'arm. 06:36, 1 August 2007 (BST)

If you can find people who want to be judges then they can join in. But as far as I know of, no one else has applied to be a judge. - If Jedaz = 06:39, 1 August 2007 (BST) then pi = 3
It was basically a belated invitation for someone to volunteer. With more judges we could exclude the highest and lowest scores in each category, but that's getting a bit too serious. Oh well, at least my opinion holds more sway. 'arm. 06:44, 1 August 2007 (BST)

Is there any deadline for the Judges? -- goebi oo ooooooo 20:47, 4 August 2007 (BST)

I'm going to do mine in the next few hours. 'arm. 01:57, 5 August 2007 (BST)

I'd volunteer to be a judge, but then I'd actually have to check back on these pages... And that would mean going on the wiki somewhat regularly... --V2Blast TP!CSR

Closing

This is closing soon bitches! About 12 hours by the look of it! Get your custom sigs in here! --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 21:53, 30 July 2007 (BST)

hm... i might squeeze one in just in last few hours, i.e. tomorrow morning, but no promises. p.s. IMHO there are too much of all that "past deadline" shit on this wiki... p.p.s. it's about 24 hours actually --~~~~ 22:19, 30 July 2007 (BST)
