Description

The Holdway Museum is an Puppet and space museum located in the suburb of Dulston. The museum's most impressive feature is its public planetarium, a 44-foot diameter dome theater which is equipped with a Spitz 512 star projector, a C-360 35mm film projector, a laser projection system, a large format video projection system, a 2300 watt audio system, and scores of slide and special effects projectors. The Holdway Museum once used this equipment to present a wide range of programs for attendees, or at least it did before the "Malton Incident". The museum also features a wide collection of earth- and space-related exhibits such as booster rockets, nose cones, a working model of the Solar System, space flight history displays, and even wax figures of the primates that were used in early space flight experiments conducted by the United States. Back in the days before the epidemic visitors were encouraged to join the Friends of the Holdway membership program or drop by the Starlight Gift Shop. Survivors can still do both, but find the experience unappealing considering the circumstances.

Noted NecroTech scientist, Caleb Usher, visited the museum during his tour of every cultural spot in Dulston. While here he took particular interest in an exhibit on telecommunication satellites, possibly due to his continued interests in improving NecroNet which relies on a satellite relay when scanning for tagged zombies. He also paid his respects to Jo-Jo's grave before departing.

Back in December 2006 the dedicated hobbyists of the Palytoxin Gang, a survivor group composed primarily of avid nano-reefers, at one time claimed ownership of the museum and had used it as a staging ground for the defense of Dulston's survivor population. Fellow survivors were asked to show no hostilities in the museum, as murderers were not tolerated. Even after the group had disbanded back in late-2007 survivors associated with the Dulston Alliance continue to watch over the museum's inhabitants.

Grave of Jo-Jo, the 23rd Chimpanzee in Space

A photo of Jo-Jo, a US astrochimp, fitted into a special biopack couch prior to flight. (1965)

The last of the over twenty astrochimps launched into space by NASA, Jo-Jo did not receive much of the glory attributed to more famous astrochimps like Ham, aka "The First Chimpanzee in Space", but nonetheless he helped pave the way towards reliable space travel for humans. Jo-Jo blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on May 15, 1965, and traveled 155 miles in 16.5 minutes before splashing down safely into the Atlantic Ocean.

His remains were later entombed at the Holdway Museum in 1987 upon his death at the age 27 after the museum administrator purchased the deceased chimpanzee on eBAY. The grave site was later arranged in a small park clearing behind the museum with access from the main foyer so patrons could pay their respects.

Affiliates

Survivors seeking refuge in this museum may seek assistance and protection from nearby buildings, such as:

Since the Palytoxin Gang controls this building this building is also directly connected to the Dulston Alliance, of which they are a joint member.

Barricade Policy

Barricades should be kept at Extremely Heavily at all times. The true purpose of this building is to serve as a heavily fortified shelter for Malton's veteran survivors. This ruling was set forth by the Dulston Optimal Defense Diagram and is enforced by all member groups of the Dulston Alliance.

Current Events

November 8th, 2007 - With no signs of the Palytoxin Gang in several days many survivors have come to the conclusion that the group has disbanded. This is a fact that has been confirm by the Dulston Alliance which formally consigned the group to its honours list of past member groups. Ownership of the museum is therefore once again up for grabs to any group that is interested.

August 21st, 2006 - A member of the Philosophe Knights visited the museum on a fact finding mission in order to catalog the Holdway Museum's collection. After completing their task the survivor moved on to Malton's other museums.

August 14th, 2006 - The Palytoxin Gang, a survivor group and member of the Dulston Alliance, has declared Holdway Museum as their new headquarters. From here they plan on hunting zombies throughout Dulston, as well as spreading the word of the fragile aquarium ecosystem that is the "nano reefs".

May 22nd, 2006 - The Shamblin' Crooners made their usual grand entrance and entertained everyone inside with their famous "break-in & concert" style of zombie rock. Some humans were eaten. Some zombies were shot. Bottom line, everyone had fun. Rock on Crooners, rock on...
