Speedy Deletion Criterion 12 was created in order to get rid of the great ammount of group pages that were being created every day and then forgotten forever. Users, especially newbies seeking some stardom in the game, constantly create new groups in order to be the "leaders", but when said project seems to go aground, they abandon it: the result is a lot of group pages with a couple of edits in a lapse of a week and then nothing.

Criterion 12 was created in August 21, 2007, as part of the Historical Groups policy, as a way to remove inactive group pages. In December 30, 2006, the criterion was altered, and it was removed from the list of possible criteria to speedy delete a page in September 16, 2007, after a policy was approved.

The Criterion

12. Defunct group page: The page is a non-historical group page, it is over two months old, it has not had an update in a month, and is not on the stats page. Such pages will remain in the queue for 5 days to determine their defunct status has been correctly identified. Due to the large number of pages that fit into this criterion, please

on the pages to ensure that they are categorized differently from normal speedy deletion requests.

Criticism

Criterion 12 was often viewed as a tool which erased the history of Urban Dead. While some groups that were removed using this Criterion had little to no content and/or had little to no impact in the game, some had an impact in the game, but weren't important enough to be recognized as Historical Groups. Since groups were deleted after a failed historical voting voting process, this criterion lead for several links in community pages to be left red (pointing to nowhere), and many of Malton's history to be forgotten.
