Location: The Preston Building (South Blythville)

With the constant fluctuating of the Pippard Building's barricades, I departed in the early hours to seek safer ground in the NecroTech closest to Marven Mall. Exhausted from my injuries, I slept most of the day and woke late in the evening, my stomach rumbling. I snacked on the last of my provisions and I dozed back off, only to be awakened by a harsh kick to the ribs.

Rolling to my feet, I swayed, still weakened from my healing injuries. I found my attacker to be a dark-haired man wearing dark clothing and sunglasses despite it was well in to the evening. With a shaky hand I tightened the straps of my pack and medical bag, preparing to make a mad dash for escape. Despite the pain it caused me, I tensed and made a break for freedom when I saw him bring out a pistol.

Even with the bullets striking through my flak jacket and the distance I was putting between us, each hit felt like a powerful punch, driving me off my feet and knocking the breath from my lungs. I hit the ground and there things grew blurred in the echoing sound of gunshots as I struggled frantically to escape despite the pain. Another brutal kick to the ribs sent me onto my back to look up at my attacker.

"You are a disgrace to the good name of FANNY," he sneered as he aimed his pistol at my chest and my mind raced, could he know of my alliance...? His next words confirmed my fears. "Reviving Philosophe Knights, tsk tsk. Unless, of course, the graffiti is untrue."

He mocked me as he pulled back on the trigger of his pistol.

No--!

The barricades fell before the zombies; they flooded indoors and the battle between living and dead was engaged once more. As primarily a non-combatant, I hung in the back, letting those with the combat training do their work without hampering them, trying to drive off the undead horde with a few attacks of my own. The battle fell into a lull and the survivors huddled behind their makeshift covers, tending to each others wounds.

I slipped out from behind my loosely made shield to head to safer ground when I encountered one of the zombies still inside the building; my escape attempt failed as soon as I tried it, the undead creature lashing out with its claws. Bringing my arms up to shield myself, I bit back a cry of pain as the claws cut into my forearms. Once more I attempted to fight back with kicks and punches that missed more then hit. A shriek of pain escaped me as its yellowed teeth sunk into my bleeding forearm, the way the bite burned told me it was a carrier; I managed to wedge my foot between the undead attacker and myself and when it lifted its head and went to bit again, I pushed with all my strength, sending me flying back against the wall.

The edges of my vision darkened and blurred and it seemed only seconds later when I heard the swishing of cloth and looked up to see the bloodstained black robes of Sir F as he knelt beside me to tend to my injuries, his blood-smeared white face-mask cracked and chipped as he gazed down at me. For a man whom has killed as many as he, he was rather gentle as he tended to the injuries and infection I had garnered from the zombie. He rose and secured the barricades before glancing back at me.

"I only wish that could do more. Praise Knowledge, and stay safe." Sir F murmured softly to me before vanishing.

Oh...I'm exhausted...

"Well hello, Karen. I was just wondering - does it ever get discouraging to revive people who just jump out of a window five minutes after standing?" A woman in a bloodstained pale red dress and blue jeans asked me mockingly.

I froze; she knew of my alliance? I ground my teeth, refusing to acknowledge her even as one of my allies rebuked her. I was familiar with her sort, seeking to garner attention and reactions with her biting comments and I refused to play her game.

I found four of my allies swaying at one of the revive points; thankfully I was well rested and managed to revive them all before retreating indoors to the nearest NT building.

On the first day of summer, I patrolled the revive points after one of my allies rather gleefully executed one of the people he deemed ignorant; I found him later at a revive point, swaying silently all by himself.

I finally arrived in Marven Mall, the sun having set hours ago and utterly exhausted.

It was late when I received the orders to move; With a reluctant farewell to Suzy and Penny, I left.

I woke late in the day to a heavy rain washing over the suburb; did it blanket the entire city, I wondered. With the weather disagreeable, I spent most of my time wither in Holloms or the neighboring NecroTech.

Near the end of the day, a tall man wearing a pair of old glasses, with a black bow-tie over a white long-sleeved shirt, a black waistcoat, a pair of dark blue trousers and a pair of black boots bowed as he greeted Nicholas and myself. "And a good day to you, Mr. Bashere and Ms. Howard."

Suspicious, Nicholas asked of him, "Accusing me of zerging with Karen, Pierre?"

"No, Nicholas, I believe he's just being respectful..." I replied, recognizing the man's voice. He was an ally, new but one of those I served.

Pierre agreed with my statement as he said, "Indeed, Karen is correct. I apologize if there was any misunderstanding--I'm merely an avid fan of Karen's Wiki journal."

Some man, in bloodstained dark clothing and a green medical mask killed Nicholas.

"Nicholas Bashere, you are a known Felon, I'm bringing you down," The man said pretentiously, in such a superior manner it sickened me. With the deed done, he had the gall to say: "Stay safe Malton."

I woke late and the atmosphere didn't seem quite as tense as last night; relieved, I ventured out on patrol of the revive points. With the increased zombie presence, I've kept my step light and quick so not to get caught unawares again. At the end of my patrol, I stopped inside the Mall to search for provisions until sunset, which was when I headed back to the Auto Repair shop to rest with Nicholas.

I woke late in the morning, the sun having been up for several hours already. My provisions were low, so after my sparse breakfast, I headed over to the Mall. There I decided to further replace some of my more worn out clothing and was quite pleased with the outfits I had managed to put together in my searching; with the weather turning warmer and my winter wear nearly non-salvageable, it seemed the proper time. There's just something so refreshing about being able to wear brand new clothes and best yet?

They were able to rig up showers.

So I was clean and in clean new clothes. I wonder how it'll be like if...when...the quarantine ends... Will I go back to taking everything for granted? How changed am I and the other survivors going to be? What will happen to my allies and those like them whom have taken up arms against their fellow humans in this desperate city?

These thoughts plagued me and I returned to the Auto Repair shop where Nicholas and I had been resting. I was preparing to turn in for the night when a confrontation happened; a man around Nicholas and my age, appearing to be quite nervous and tired, clad in a dark blue suit of sorts with a black tie and a pale blue long-sleeved shirt; on his feet were a sturdy looking pair of black boots and his black coat looked capable of concealing pistol -- despite the fact it was nighttime, he wore sunglasses.

But what worried me most was the Malton Marshal badge he had clipped on. Nicholas, in defense of both of our lives, has killed fellow survivors; apparently, one of those he killed or another whom saw the act out of context, reported him to the "Rogues Gallery" that passes around Malton -- its a Malton Most wanted list and last time we checked, Nicholas was considered a very low priority.

According to his badge, his name was Private Steeeve -- a misspelling or error, since there's several e's? -- and he was mumbling to himself. "Got me another...god damn, he won't grow old." The man looked at Nicholas, no longer seeming as nervous or as tired as before as he spoke. "Bashere...want to clear your bounty? Tell me or Max if you do."

I didn't know what that meant, but the only way I've heard of having ones bounty cleared was to die. Panicking, I stood protectively in front of my older-brother figure, my hands raised in anon threatening manner, pleading: "Please...don't hurt him. The only times he's killed has been in defense of himself or me... If anyone is at fault, its me..."

Another man, this one in a black and dark red suit, with a badge that identified him as Max Floyd said, "Just tell'em to be more careful next time, ma'am. Awright - I'm goin' shopping for PKers in the Mall. Good day, folks!"

With that apparent disaster adverted, I settled down to rest for the night beside Nicholas...
