Uprising

As a person who's been privy to a lot of the behind-the-scenes discussions on all this, I'd say the Uprising hopes to improve Malton in at least three ways:

a) discouraging the institutionalization of certain "unsportsmanlike" practices (to use Desmond's terminology)

b) presenting an alternative to the DEM's form of Malton-wide organization

c) increasing awareness of, and participation in, smaller and/or more local groups

Whether we'll actually succeed in any of those remains to be seen. All we may end up doing is making the game slightly more interesting for bored folks in green suburbs for a week. Which I suppose might not be a half-bad accomplishment.

But we've been in existence for...err...72 hours? Rome wasn't built in a day, and not everything comes together 100% smoothly right off the bat. If you're interested in anything related to (b) and (c), I can PM you some of the stuff we're working on, why we're interested in those matters, and hand you a link where you can join the discussion. But, honestly, to avoid any serious efforts in these regards from getting exspaminated and killed prematurely, we've been a bit wary about sharing this.

Effectively...we're not as worried about zombies as we are about the way in which local groups interact, coordinate, and relate to one another and to larger groups. And about how groups deal with one another when their policies conflict. Many of us think local groups have gotten the short end of the stick; at the very least we want to call attention to this; and at the very best, we want to change it. --Jen 22:07, 4 September 2008 (BST)
