Description

In 2016 there was a zerger with various naming schemes who were noted for attempting to be edgy and offend people with their names and in-game speech. e.g. the Prudence pussy zergs. After these accounts were deleted by Kevan, the alphadog naming scheme was used. Learning from this mistake, these new characters did not speak, and used an inoffensive naming scheme. An often-seen spray at the time, sprayed by an unknown player, gives some insight to this time http://tinyurl.com/pudence.

Alphadog is a zerger who is noted for

- Using hundreds of characters who are named similarly.
- Using tens of "secret" characters who are named innocuously. Usually used for PKing and scouting.
- Aiming to ruin Fort Creedy and the four adjacent suburbs for large stretches of time, as well as patrolling unruined buildings up to three suburbs away with survivor characters to Player-Kill.
- Doing this manually, such that he spends several hours to play the game each day (!)
- Using brute-force attacks to crack the passwords of his opponents and many old disused characters. At least 20 accounts have been confirmed as stolen, and likely there are many more.
- Creating multiple imposters of his enemies.
- Being active around 5-8am GMT and 7-10pm GMT.

During his appearances, the four adjacent suburbs would be ruined and camped by at least one zombie, while daily patrols stopped reclamation efforts. The CDF responded with Vampire_Tactics and regular raids to keep repair costs down and to keep an eye on him. At some point, Alphadog would stop playing and the suburbs would be fully repaired after one week, usually sooner.

Activities

  • 14 September 2016 - 3 Feb 2017
  • 31 August 2017: Reactivated in the contacts list but didn't do anything.
  • 20 March 2018 - 10 January 2019
  • 22 March 2020 - 13 May 2020: Reappears in Edgecombe but the suburb is already ruined. Discovering he has nothing to do, he times out.
  • 21 Oct 2020: Reappears but didn't do anything
  • 19 May 2021 - 21 July 2021
  • 22 March 2023 - 30 December 2024
  • 8 March 2025 - Reappeared in the last days of Urban Dead in an attempt to ruin Fort Creedy. Was defeated by a large amount of cat-themed zergs. Not going to lie, I found this very funny, watching him spend hours futilely trying to kill them all.

Alphadog was also known to occasionally move/appear to other parts of Malton, sometimes in coordination with other zerg groups. The nature of zergs means it is hard to tell whether these were to supplement his own zergs, or as part of an effort with other zerging players.

Achievements

Alphadog never achieved lasting success. Local zombie players would leave the area, and the only players present were Alphadog, the CDF and a few local hardy survivor players. Alphadog had to spend hours each day defending against constant survivor attacks from nearby suburbs. Each time he stopped playing, the tide of survivors held back by his actions would sweep into the areas he held and repair everything in a few days.

Someone spent almost an entire day making a mistake and then undoing it

(Presumably a failed attempt at scripting that resulted in helpfully flooding the fort with survivor zergs)

Description

Alphadog is a group of zombies with similar names who inhabit Fort Creedy and the surrounding area. They are noted for complete silence, amazing coordination, an inability to attack with more than one character at a time, extremely regular working hours and the ability to keep this up for hours. How they do this is a complete mystery, but one can conclude they are truly undead, as they must have no life.

The Mystery of AlphaDog: A Parody Chronicle of Madness in Urban Dead

In the crumbling ruins of the post-apocalyptic world that is Urban Dead, where survival is a daily struggle, few names resonate as strongly as AlphaDog. This figure, this relentless force of nature, has become synonymous with one of the most obsessive and destructive paths any player in the game could follow. But, dear reader, as we peel back the layers of this decaying, zombified onion, we find a story not just of madness, but of something more something that might be creeping inside us all.

The Rise of the AlphaDog

Once upon a time, in the early days of Urban Dead, there was a player who went by the name of Alpha Dog, a survivor, a leader, a man with ambitions and dreams like any other. Yes, indeed, the original AlphaDog was a living, breathing person a leader of the DK13 group, a faction notorious for its territorial pride, its bloodied clashes with enemies, and its obsession with control. While the story of AlphaDog’s rise would later be overshadowed by his descent into madness, it’s essential to understand where it all began. The DK13 group, under AlphaDog’s leadership, claimed their territory around Fryerbank, a suburb that would soon become synonymous with their aggressive tactics. The group’s members, fiercely loyal to their leader, would frequently spray-paint their group’s name across every building within their domain, marking their claim for all to see. These markings were not just a sign of pride, but a clear declaration to anyone who dared challenge them: This is our territory. AlphaDog was not merely a survivor in Urban Dead he was a conqueror, staking his claim on the desolate landscape and ensuring no one would dare encroach upon it. The spray-painted name was a symbol, a warning. Those who ventured into the Fryerbank area quickly learned that crossing the DK13 group was not something to be taken lightly. The group's control was absolute, and the fate of anyone who dared defy it was sealed.

The Obsession with Territory

As time passed, AlphaDog’s obsession with his territory grew ever more consuming. It was no longer enough to simply hold Fryerbank he needed to dominate it, to ensure that every corner, every building, every street was theirs and theirs alone. But in a strange twist of fate, after the fall of DK13 and its members, AlphaDog’s story took a darker turn. It was no longer about being a survivor, a leader of a group it was about being the last man standing in a world overrun by the undead. And in this new chapter, his obsession with territory manifested in an even more sinister form. In 2014, AlphaDog shifted his focus to Pitneybank. It was here that his transformation began. No longer content with merely holding land, AlphaDog, now consumed by madness, sought to claim Pitneybank as his own personal kingdom. He became a force of destruction filling the suburb with an army of zombies, tearing down barricades, and preventing any attempts to rebuild. His obsession with maintaining control over every building in Pitneybank, especially key locations like Fort Creedy and Giddings Mall, became legendary. He didn’t just play the game he sought to erase anyone who tried to stop him. The zombie horde he commanded wasn’t just for show; it was a tool for hunting down anyone who dared fight him. His enemies quickly learned that their every move was being tracked. Those who fought back found their names meticulously recorded in AlphaDog’s ever-growing list of adversaries. Once a player dared challenge him, there was no escape. They were marked for annihilation. And as AlphaDog’s army grew, so did his tactics. He became notorious for mocking those he defeated by creating fake accounts in their names, using them to mock or haunt his enemies. Anyone who even mentioned opposing him soon found themselves targeted not just by his zombies, but by the full weight of his obsession.

One of the original AlphaDogs https://urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=2170301 See his profile https://urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=2172248, where he claims, "I am the last Alpha Dog and a renegade. Every family needs a black sheep."

What truly set AlphaDog apart was his unyielding obsession with hunting down anyone who dared challenge him. His grip on Pitneybank was absolute, and anyone who tried to reclaim it was swiftly overrun. But he wasn’t satisfied with just beating them. No, AlphaDog needed to erase them. This desire to wipe out anyone who opposed him soon led to his most insidious move yet. In 2024, after years of fighting, it happened. He began hacking into accounts and building his zombie empire even further, AlphaDog finally took things one step further. He targeted not just other zerg players, but entire survivor groups, even hacking into the accounts of the CDF the Creedy Defense Force. His hacking spree included stealing the accounts of former CDF members, including the leader Spider and other long-time players. What began as a focus on territory and survival had now become an obsession with control complete and utter control. Anyone who crossed him, anyone who even fought him, found themselves targeted. It didn’t matter if they were part of a rival zerg or a survivor group like the CDF; if they had opposed AlphaDog in any way, they would pay the price. And so, as his empire grew, so did his madness. Players were hacked, their accounts stolen, and their efforts crushed under the weight of his obsession. The game, once a place for survival and fun, became a battlefield where AlphaDog was the sole ruler, and no one dared challenge him. His victims include: The CDF, the Alwayz zerg, Cats zerg, Snackin/Rigger zerg, and many more.

The True Identity of AlphaDog: M K Kurtz

For years, the true identity of AlphaDog remained a mystery. While his name and reputation spread across the game, very little was known about the man behind the mask. It was only when his old website alphadog.tk was discovered that a name began to emerge from the shadows: M K Kurtz. This name, found within the archives of his long-lost website, remains the only solid lead into the identity of AlphaDog. It was this website along with his old MySpace page and LiveJournal that provided the most personal glimpse into his psyche. It was on these sites that AlphaDog painted a picture of his former self a survivor battling against the odds, clinging to the fragile thread of sanity in a world overrun by the undead. His LiveJournal even contained philosophical musings, reflecting his internal struggle as he grappled with the horror of the apocalypse. But it was on MySpace that AlphaDog’s identity became most apparent. There, under the guise of a survivor, he presented himself as a tragic figure, one who had fought against the odds, only to be consumed by the very thing he had once fought. His profile on AlphaDog102, an account made in 2015, still active, reads "Once a fearsome apex survivor, AlphaDog has succumbed to the relentless grasp of the zombie contagion, transforming into a nightmarish amalgamation of decay and ferocity." summed up his tragic descent perfectly. The man who once led a group of survivors had now become the very monster he once fought against.

As the years go on, and the player base of Urban Dead shifts and changes, AlphaDog’s reign over Pitneybank remains unchallenged. Few dare to enter his territory anymore, and those who do quickly find themselves overrun by his army of zombies. The game, once filled with hopes of survival, has become a wasteland where AlphaDog stands alone, a tyrant in a decaying world. Yet, despite the seeming finality of his rule, there are still questions that remain unanswered. Was AlphaDog always destined to become this monster? Or was he simply a man caught in the inexorable tide of obsession, unable to escape the very thing that once defined him? Perhaps the most disturbing part of this story is that it’s not just AlphaDog’s madness we have to worry about. It’s the fact that we, too, can become obsessed. We, too, can lose ourselves in the very thing we love. And just like AlphaDog, we might not even realize it until it’s too late. So, the next time you log into Urban Dead, consider the story of AlphaDog. Remember the haunting words: "AlphaDog Territory." For, if you’re not careful, you might just find yourself marking your own territory and losing more than you ever intended.
