Gregg Library

Description

An old, old building with Renaissance-era architecture, blood stained-glass windows and rough-hewn stone walls. Even with years of remodels (and a gift shop) this building looks ancient and out-of-place.

History

Whilst the Gregg Library in its current incarnation, has a continuous history dating back to 1602, its roots date back even further. The Gregg was the first purpose-built library known to have existed in New Arkham was founded in the 14th century by Thomas Cobham, Bishop of Pitneybank. The collection of rare hand-penned volumes grew steadily. Rumor has it that between 1435 and 1437, Lord Humphrey of Penny Heights, donated a great collection of hand-drawn medieval porn, but existing shelf space was insufficient to hold the moronic filth and thus a larger building was deemed necessary. The planned "extension" said to be built in secret, but was never found...

Many say that only when zombies are cleared from Malton's streets will the secret entrance to the manuscript library be found. However, many more cynical types argue that the extension never existed, and that library management decided to build a gift shop instead because you just can't get enough of those themed ballpoint-pens now can you?
