The Lazarus Infection is an unusual form of the infection, in that the victim takes several hours to fully zombify. This has led to some survivors carrying out Mercy Killings

There are a number of theories flying around debating the cause, ranging from the plausible (the infection is delayed by the Immune System) through to the downright outrageous (the infection was created by a secret organisation to make an army of super soldiers.)

What is known about this form of infection has been discovered by a researcher, by the name of Abigail Batey, working from one of the makeshift labs set up around the city.

The Lazarus infection differs from Incipient Infection in several small but significant ways, the biggest being the method of transmission - by the bite of an infected zombie, and should be treated quickly by a trained doctor.
