History
Malton Lodge #999 was chartered in 1857 under the United Grand Lodge of England. Its founder and first Worshipful Master was Theodore Goodson, a local industrialist and philanthropist. The lodge brethern were known for thier charity work: Setting up relief housing following the Great Fire, running scholarship programs, and, most notably, thier Widows and Orphans fund.
Notable members of the lodge include Alistair Chadwick, Norton Eelms, Arthur Fowle, Jean-Paul Gibeault, David Allen Hall, Reagan Mitchem, Edgar Pask, and Marion Vellacott.
The lodge building was located between St. Columbanus's Church and Mains Alley in Owsleybank. Shortly following the Malton Incident, the lodge building was burned down by rioters. A wasteland is all that remains.
