Mayday Massacre Brings Hope, Supplies to Devastated Tollyton and Shackleville

TOLLYTON - Help finally reached beleaguered survivors trapped in war-torn Tollyton and Shackleville. but it became clear that no amount of aid from the Ridleybank Resistance Front would stop the soaring death toll in the two suburbs.

Infected survivors swarmed the RRF relief tents, looking vainly for food, first aid and a warm, gentle caress from attentive RRF zombies. While RRF officials have not released an official death toll, authorities fear that hundreds have died in the stricken suburbs, and that a critical shortage of basting supplies and brain seasoning bags now exists in Tollyton.

Fortress Leader Bensonson, coordinating with the RRF on how best to allow aid to reach the disaster area.

"It’s a survivor's worst fear," said RRF Aid Volunteer Jim Hgaragh, looking vainly for a dash of salt to season the freshly collected brains. "To be trapped in a suburb with no access to medical care, food or secured shelter and cut off from society. Its a good thing we arrived when we did. Meat can spoil quickly if left out in the sun."

While the Ridleybank Resistance Front is unsure what prompted the complete and utter collapse of the suburb's medical, supply and revive system, RRF officials have pledged to help the few remaining survivors and restore order to Tollyton and Shackleville.

"We are still working with two local survivor groups--Paradox and The Fortress-- to determine exactly what happened here and why a suburb with four hospitals, two police stations and a mall would fall into complete chaos," continued Hgaragh, dumping flour and seasoning on a group of huddled survivors. "However its important that we maintain the flow of supplies into this area and that the suburb's critical lack of roasting pans and open-pits be addressed."

"The logistical situation is improving slowly. Aid is reaching these people and we have noticed that number of infected survivors has decreased dramatically, largely due to the number of RRF aid stations set up around the suburb. Hope is returning to Tollyton"

RRF authorities have pieced together a rough timeline of the disaster from several sources, and have noted that the horde's quick response time has been a large factor in reducing survivor suffering in the area.

RRF Timeline of the Tollyton / Shackleville Event

April 28th: RRF officials note several flares from the Tollyton and Shackleville Area and send several teams to investigate and provide aid. April 28th: Wounded and panicked survivors are found in Horsey Museum and Harkness Auto Repair and are promptly treated. April 29th: RRF notes that The Fortress's Headquarters at Carder Row School and Rickard have been boarded up. RRF Aid workers quickly bring down the barricades to free the trapped survivors and provide aid to the wounded. Rescue efforts begin to free survivors from other trapped buildings in Shackleville. April 30th: Distress flares are seen firing from Woodroffe Mall and Prangnell Arms in Tollyton. RRF zombies note a similar pattern of barricading and wonder what disaster has prompted these survivors to board up their homes and hide. April 30th: Survivors in Woodroffe Mall and Prangnell Arms are rescued and treated. May 1st: Rescue teams have reached and freed trapped survivors in most Tollyton Buildings. The rescue operation, dubbed Mayday Massacre, is considered to be a complete success. May 2nd: Having cleared the two suburbs of debris, trucks carrying aid and cooking equipment begin arriving in the disaster area. The RRF begins its own independent investigation to determine the cause of the panic and the complete collapse of the area's medical and revive facilities.

"As soon as it became clear to us that many survivors were in trouble in Tollyton and Shackleville, we sent in our First Response Teams to get a handle on the situation and to begin treating the wounded," said Hgaragh. "Response-time is critical in disaster areas. In several of these stricken buildings, we noted that RRF teams were on hand to assist survivors well before an actual emergency occurred. I wish we were able to do more. Now that we are here, we hope to get these two suburbs back on their feet once again.
