Neutral Point of View
The following is an in character group page. End neutral point of view.
Section 13 Field Manual
This is an easily accessible guide to the motivations and methods of S13. As a new member it is recommended that you book mark this page to make it even easier to find. The purpose of the field manual is to provide easy reference for survival techniques. Eventually this page may contain links to mission overviews, maps, and other resources to assist S13 members. Please take a moment to read this over, refer to it when needed, and contribute any ideas that will help your fellow S13 member outwit and out fight the endless hordes of undead.
The Tribunal
Section 13 was formed, or co-founded by three ex-members of the MFD, a member group of the DEM. These three men where RuckerT, Steve Farmhouse, and Jack 13.
After a period of time all three men, friends who had fought across Malton grew to disdain the DEM, realizing that they could never help where it was most needed, but only where they were told they could fight.
While group members are always encouraged to contribute new ideas and missions the Tribunal reviews and decides on all aspects that effect Section 13, from recruitment, to the implementation of Policies and Procedures. This is in the hope that decisions remain balanced, and to prevent Section 13 from stifling the character of its members.
The Tribunal recognizes that Section 13 is more than a group, it is a tribe of warriors, and a family.
Section 13 Roster
Provided is a list of all Section 13 members.
Section 13 Mandate
Survival is our only priority. Since the outbreak and quarantining of Malton, We her citizens have witnessed the decay of her culture, institutions. We struggled to survive while watching her community and law deteriorate completely. We have come to learn those who hold some sort of executive authority - practicing their regulations and laws - over the heads of Maltons remaining citizens are not else but fraudulent madmen, whose perverse thoughts of power stem only from the trauma they have experience inside The Quarantine.
The police, the fire department, the military, even the hospitals and their doctors, all of the true civil servants died. They all died in the first few weeks of The Outbreak - fighting the undead, fighting to protect people they didn't know. Either spread thin or huddled all in one place, day by day the became fewer until some clown realized he could walk into a police station and no one was there to stop him from playing dress-up.
We fight. We fight only for the person next to us, and only if they are Section 13. We look after our own and only our own, and this is what keeps us alive. This page is dedicated to how we do exactly that and how we maintain our mandate of surviving in the city of Malton.
Procedures
The following methods have been established through time and experience, and adapted for use because of proven effectiveness.
The Uniform
The concept of a uniform has been abandoned. All that is asked is to change your group affiliation to Section 13 in your profile, and to provide a link to the main group page. With these conditions met, we will be proud that you have chosen to join our group.
The Kit
Due to the nature of our operations and long distances traveled, the following equipment is often considered essential. As a member of Section 13 we ask that you sacrifice 8% encumbrance to carry this small list of recommended items.
- GPS Unit (found in Necrotec Buildings, and mall tech stores)
- Mobile Phone
- Radio Set to 26.31Mhz
The Fireteam
This is the basic unit of Section 13. Comprised of three to four members, each with their own role and responsibilities. The fireteam has been desinged to be entirely self-sufficient, an independent unit capable of survival without assistance.
Although the design of the fireteam provides an ability to function autonomously, each fireteam is highly important to the operation of Section 13, and works in cooperation with all other fireteams to achieve our objectives. This means all members once declaring their loyalty and having been given their assignment will be held accountable.
The relationship of the fireteam to the group is much like that of muscle and bone respectively. Each fireteam forces an action, while the group and it's cooperative organization provide structure and reinforcement.
Operations
We will operate in a network of semi-entrenched fireteams, able to communicate and execute maneuvers with precision regardless of siege, radio, or wireless black-out.
It has been a long term goal of Section 13 to develope and established network of Safehouses throughout malton, each within a days travel of the next.
An internal list is of these locations and their coordinates is maintained.

Recruitment
Recruitment policies are currently under review, and will be adapted to increase effectiveness in the near future
Recruitment is done in three careful steps (recruitment process is under review, and subject to change for operation purposes)
Sponsorship
If a candidate meets the minimum requirements (completed survivor skill tree), or has displayed the appropriate character, a Section 13 member can initiate the first step of the recruitment process. remember, group all recruitment, training, and communication must be done in game. The recruitment inquiry (or pitch) is written below so you can copy/paste into the speach button in U.D.
The folowing was the original Pitch used when S13 first began. It is here for historic reasons, but can be used if you wish.
"(Persons name), Flexible morals? Willing to take a life to safe your own? Loyal like a dog and hungry for survival like a maggot? go to ##, ## and tell (a member at that location) I have sponsored you" and then list the location for the second leg of the recruitment process.
Should the candidate express an interest in joining Section 13 and show at the location provided then the second stage of recruitment will begin
The Oath
All Section 13 members have Sworn an Oath of Loyalty. This is done in the Presence of Reverend Scrape, our Chaplain. For those of you that have found someone interested in joining, the oath can be found below with complete instructions, in an easy copy/paste format. Only AFTER a person has decided to join should you give them our forum URL, incase they get lost along the way.
"The Oath is completed in a few steps. First travel to St. Maximillians Church in Wyke Hills, and Find Reverend Scrape. Once you Have arrived inform the good Reverend that you have come to swear your oath, and ask for permission to speak"
"Once you have been granted permission to speak, repeat the following two lines."
"I, (Name), hereby declair my loyalty to Section 13"
"I hold this oath to be true upon my name, honour, and blood"
"Once you have complete this you must then ask the Reverend for permission to return to battle, you may optionally request a blessing if it so suites you."
Maneuvers
The following is a list of operations and manuevers undertaken by S13, the most recent or current manuever is listed at the bottom of this section. Soon to come will be a section of missions, challenges and tours recommended for S13 fireteams.
