Suggestion talk:20070506 Aid Shipment

Seems a little overpowered, but I like the basic premise, so how about this... like you said, anyone can request military aid to a specific suburb. Limit this to one request per day per person. Scale it back a bit so there is only one crate drop per day, in a suburb randomly selected from those requested during the previous day. The more requests for a specific suburb, the more likely the crate drop will be in that suburb.

Example:

One survivor requests aid to Stanbury Village, three survivors request aid to Havercroft, and six survivors request aid to Darvall Heights. This would give a 10% chance that the crate would land in Stanbury Village, 30% for Havercroft, and 60% for Darvall Heights.

Another potential problem I see is for all the aid request being for Peppardville, Pitneybank, Pennville, and Whittenside (i.e. close to the forts). --Uncle Bill 07:08, 6 May 2007 (BST)

Huh, a lottery. I'll keep that in mind in case this suggestion doesn't make it, for that seems a bit fair. As for all the aid requests being nearby Forts, well, I guess that may be a problem that I cannot solve. I was thinking of having some sort of beacon players can find lying around and use that to summon help, but I was afraid it could be seen as some Holy Grail then. It could work...I'll wait for other people's feedback though. Thanks.--ShadowScope 07:36, 6 May 2007 (BST)

How about this? The Forts are the ONLY locations in Malton with powerfull enougth radio towers to contact the outside world. Someone with radio skill can spend 25 AP attempting to crack the encryption. This has a 75% chance of success. If succesfull they have the option Send for aid (specify co-ordinates) takes 5AP and then a crate has a 50% chance of being dropped within 9 Squares of the co-ordinates specified. Each fort can send out one of these messages a week. --Seventythree 11:07, 6 May 2007 (BST)

The problem would be that it would be far too rare, and far too expensive. I'll think about it, though I prefer UncleBill's idea. The idea of sending the military co-ordinates is actually a better idea than having people click on Suburbs...I like that. Still, how do you prevent people from sending the crates just to defend the Forts?--ShadowScope 17:12, 6 May 2007 (BST)

That's easy. The airspace above 9 squares around the forts is a no-fly zone. Send co-ordinates for supply drops into there and all you get is a message telling you that it can't be done. I dunno how oyu'd explain away the no fly zone....--Seventythree 18:12, 6 May 2007 (BST)

Zombies with surface-to-air missiles? --Uncle Bill 01:28, 7 May 2007 (BST) (Seriously, if we can find a way to explain the no fly zone that would probably do the trick.) --Uncle Bill 01:30, 7 May 2007 (BST)
Funt Solo said that he assumed Malls are places where aid shipments are usually routed towards (as well as being a black market of sorts), which is why they are always stocked up to the brim with random goodies. If we assume that, then Forts are already being resupplied by the Military from time to time. "The Military replies that they already do constant military restocks of the Forts, so sending in an air drop is unnecessary."--ShadowScope 02:17, 7 May 2007 (BST) EDIT: It has the added benieft of explaining why Forts never run out of guns.
Makes sense to me... --Uncle Bill 03:56, 7 May 2007 (BST)
Or maybe there was an automated anti aircraft missile system activated in certain areas of the city and no-one can get in and turn em off.--Seventythree 12:21, 7 May 2007 (BST)

You'll have to do it, I'm at work right now, and people are beginning to notice... time be descreet--Vista 12:33, 7 May 2007 (BST)

Heh, you shouldn't add comments which don't have anything to do with the page you are talking about, it's not very classy IMO. Oh, and I'm almost done with the page, I'll need to design an image after I get the page up =P - JedazΣT MC ΞD GIS S! 11:45, 7 May 2007 (GMT)
Just seeing if you're paying attention :) I'll add something to the discussion later.--Vista 12:54, 7 May 2007 (BST)
Heh, well if you are paying attention I've made the page and I've signed you up. I'm going to make an image and then a template for people to use. - JedazΣT MC ΞD GIS S! 11:56, 7 May 2007 (GMT)
