Suggestion talk:20070722 Ghouls

The point is to do a little more damage per ap, and to make it seem more like the classic horde that you see portrayed in zombie movies.-- dǝǝɥs oʇ ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 01:04, 23 July 2007 (BST)
- Yes, but it is ONE zombie. I "activate" the zombie. I then perform an action and the zombie hits for 1 damage. Then the zombie only has a 50% chance to hit (for 1 damage). Doesn't really represent a "classic horde". As I said in my vote, I misread (I didn't see it only affected one corpse). I was thinking that, if the RNG was kind, a zombie could get 49 corpses "readied" then do 49 points of automatic damage (plus the zombie leader, if he attacked) to a target. That seemed overpowered. But this just seems insignificant. Maybe if the chance to hit were a LOT lower and the number of corpses usable at once were higher.--Pesatyel 02:38, 24 July 2007 (BST)
- Overpowered, I'd say not. 1 extra damage isn't much when you consider that survivors get fire axes and pistols and shotguns, all of which work with headshot and they also get to heal 3x+1^ zombie claw damage with an FAK for 1AP(which means 2-5AP nerfed for 1 AP). Survivors are meant to be at a disadvantage and their skills show that but numbers and how horribly inefficient zombies are at certain things make that an impossibility. Speeding up and increasing a zombies kill rate isn't the best way to make survivors have to depend more on their AP draining skills and hiding but it is a way which means it is a good thing as long as it's not a 5AP or less kill.--Karekmaps?! 07:05, 24 July 2007 (BST)
I think the flavor text is killing this
If it were simply a way to get improved attacks in the presence of dead bodies, the benefit could more or less the same, but people wouldn't gripe as much. Ah well. . . . swiers 04:45, 23 July 2007 (BST)
- I really think this might do better if changed to not involve all the side stuff and too just be what it is meant to be, a % buff to zombie attacks. It could easily be like tangling grasp and not show actual stats or changes and just in a manner of chaining or something, like every hit after x successful hits deals 1 extra point of damage and a miss resets the chain. I think something like that would get the same type of effect you want but not have all the added in NPC/Ghouls/dead bodies bits. Just make it so that you're crippling or stunning the survivor so they have a harder time protecting weak areas or some such explanation.--Karekmaps?! 05:08, 23 July 2007 (BST)
- How about an "target rich environment bonus" That works for ANYBODY when their "side" is outnumbered 2-to-1. Because on consideration, that's more in line with what zombies need; the ghoul suggestion just makes them stronger when they are already winning. . . . swiers 05:49, 23 July 2007 (BST)
- Actually, I like that. It'd inspire zombies to form more hordes, and it makes hording more useful. Nice idea.-- dǝǝɥs oʇ ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 05:52, 23 July 2007 (BST)
- You grow more powerful when you are losing? Maybe that might work, but it does sounds werid. This is Malton we're talking about though.--ShadowScope 06:50, 23 July 2007 (BST)

Here's a Better Idea
Zombies eat one corpse. Of course, nothing bad happens to that corpse, but once a corpse is eaten, he's eaten. No other zombie can eat it. Once he eats it, he does grow a bit stronger due to the meat, there is a 50% chance that he can get a +1 attack when he hits the enemy. The 'boost' expires if he misses the 50% chance. It gets rid of the auto-attack however, but that was another reason it was getting spammed...--ShadowScope 01:13, 24 July 2007 (BST)
- Are you looking to be spam/duped? Cause eating corpses is a sure way to do that.--Karekmaps?! 07:00, 24 July 2007 (BST)
- Hey, it's not as if I'm already getting spammed to begin with. Throwing idea out...the flavour will kill this.--ShadowScope 20:58, 24 July 2007 (BST)
