Throw 2

Type: Improvement
Scope: You have arms? Then, you.
Description: Why drop when you can throw?

With this adjustment, anyone can throw the useless junk they've accumulated over their UD life/lives at anyone/anything of their choosing!

You now get the option to 'Throw' items. A thrown item's accuracy and damage depends on its encumberance level. Damage dealt is its encumberance divided by 5 and rounded to the nearest number, except for knives, which will do 2 damage upon throwing, and axes which do 3.

Your accuracy is at a base level of 20% for items below 10% encumberance, 15% for those between 10% and 20% encumberanceencumberance, and 5% for items at or above 20% encumberance. Any skill that increases your punch/claw attack accuracy (Hand-to-Hand Combat, Vigour Mortis etc.) also increases your throw accuracy!

New to this version of Throw, if you do not have any valid throwable items on you (say, if you started out as a zombie, or have already thrown all your items), you can pick up decorative items and throw those too! Who knows, perhaps that glass statue you put up in the food court might just save you from a zombie! Or, the zombie might not like it and try to toss it at you.

Discussion (Throw 2)

It seems like a fun idea, but waaay overpowered. I don't think its a good idea to base everything on encumberance, since this means people could throw newspapers for 1 damage, assuming you're rounding up. Also, would it take AP to pick up an object or would it just be an option that costs the same amount as throwing something from your inventory? Shooty08 12:54, 5 August 2008 (BST)

Not to mention, when on earth would a zombie be able to throw something? On that note, where in-game would they want to? Their claws are already better weapons than anything they could toss. Techercizer (Food) (TSoE) 18:20, 5 August 2008 (BST)
It rounds to the nearest multiple of 5. As newspapers have 2% encumberance, they'd do 0 damage. Plus, I created this idea as an 'attack of last resort' that was in-genre. --Blake Firedancer T E RNL? P.I.S.I.T. 21:43, 5 August 2008 (BST)

Dupe of this, which was dupe of this. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 18:13, 5 August 2008 (BST)

I see NOTHING wrong with throwing items. It isn't something someone has to do. It doesn't break the game (not any more than the ability to use those items in melee does in the first place, or all the extraneous melee weapons nobody uses anyway). It would be a choice not a requirement, so peole could still drop stuff normally for no AP. So what that someone wants to spend the AP to "drop" the item? It would only affect you if he hit you with it :p . I was calculating the numbers and they don't work too well. It says that skills that affect hand accuracy affect this, but do they combine (HTH, Vigour Mortis and Death Grip). That would give a character 60% accuracy. Just HTH would be 35% and just the two zombie skills would be 45%. the damage seems to be ok. All the damage is 1 (except the knife 2, axe 3, toolbox 3, generator and decorative stuff 4). I'd cap it at 3, and WHY is the axe 3? (Should be 1).--Pesatyel 03:34, 6 August 2008 (BST)
