Talk:Groups
I categorised all the human groups into [[Category:Groups]] but then I realised that ideally we want two subcategories, human groups and zombie groups. Then this page would generate automagically whenever anyone added a new one. But I don't understand how subcategories work in the wiki, or whether we'd be able to get [[Category:Groups]] to display the full list of both in both sections -- there's something on the mediawiki help about "flattening" categories but the impression it gives it's that not fully implemented yet. I'm starting to wonder if groups should be further categorized. Say, territorial, anti-human, xenophobic, or some other classes? Also wondering if one entry per line is still a good idea, since the list can only grow from here. Nobody (as of yet) is putting a description of their group onto the group page. --Jmccorm 20:57, 12 Sep 2005 (BST)
- Yeah, I was thinking that we should get group leaders to put one line descriptions next to their group names... As in, "Joe's Group - Group of survivors dedicated to killin zombies", etc. Category page can be separate from that...--Daranz 21:07, 12 Sep 2005 (BST)
- Honestly, I think doing this would cause all kinds of unnecessary clutter. If you want to know what a group is about, you can click on their link, and read the information on their page.--ShaqFu 21:14, 12 Sep 2005 (BST)
- Seconded. Group descriptions are unnecessary. --Stankow 21:37, 12 Sep 2005 (BST)
- Might we collapse the current list into something more manageable than one entry per line? --Jmccorm 06:26, 13 Sep 2005 (BST)
- Category:Groups and its subcategories give you columns, which are a bit more manageable. Trouble is that as it currently works it's impossible to get that to do Human Groups then Zombie Groups all on one page. Morlock 10:01, 13 Sep 2005 (BST)
- Is there a Subgroups functionality? Alternately, couldn't we, say, have a Category: Groups, that is subsorted into a Category:Human Groups and a Category: Zombie Groups? It might be a tad more complex, but there's no reason why we can't just divide the two groups. -- Odd Starter 06:32, 15 Sep 2005 (BST)
- Oh, right, There is. Never mind... -- Odd Starter 06:33, 15 Sep 2005 (BST)

Being that we've resolved the subcategory issue, is there a need for this page anymore? It won't get updated automatically. Should we redirect? --otherlleft 18:58, 15 Sep 2005 (BST)
- Nah, it's silly, I'm redirecting. --otherlleft 20:22, 15 Sep 2005 (BST)
