Usage:
Place
{{MEMS Ribbons|Name=???|Rank=?|WM=?|HH=?|FR=?|SR=?|CS=?|RO=?|ER=?|FM=?|SA=?|RSR=?|AR=?|RSM=?|PH=?|VR=?|YEAR=?}}
on whatever wikipage you want to display the merits and ribbons earned from MEMS (see DEM Merits and Ribbons for a full explanation of merits and ribbons). Be sure to include your user or character's name for the Name variable, but the default is the page name (i.e. If added to the User:Dr Mycroft Chris wikipage, then the name will be set to Dr. Mycroft Chris). The default sets most ribbon medals to "off" mode, hiding them from view. In order to show a ribbon you must type/paste that code into the template & set that specific ribbon's variable to X (or just about anything) and it will become visible; See more examples below.
- What is "Rank"?: This variable refers to your current rank in MEMS. Ranks range from 1 to 5, with the default being 1 (or "new member"). Please review the requirements necessary to increase your rank and adjust it accordingly as you progress through the ranks. See Promotions below
- What is "PH"?: This variable refers to the "Purple Heart" ribbon
-
- The purple heart is a special award, given in recognition of acts of self-sacrifice with the intent to save a fellow survivor. Where others would have fled to save themselves, this person stayed to save others. The Purple Heart can be awarded on recommendation of the proposed recipient's CO of suburb command rank or above and is handed over to that recipient personally by the head officer of the appropriate branch.
-
- What is "VR"?: This variable refers to the "Valor Ribbon"
-
- The Valor Ribbon is the highest award given by the DEM Command and is presented only in cases where the recipient proved himself to go above and beyond his line of duty and overcome overwhelming odds by extreme resolve, intelligence and team spirit. The Valor Ribbon can be awarded on recommendation of the proposed recipient's CO of suburb command rank or above and is handed over to that recipient personally by the head officer of the appropriate branch.

Of course, we can't stop you from putting ribbons on your chest that you don't deserve, but that would be very bad manners and you will suffer a reprimand, you have been warned, we'll be watching!
Promotions
Like the MFD, MEMS promotion is based on levelling up coupled with work well done (and well done work being noticed by command - which means making sure you are active on your reporting thread, follow commands, and demonstrate that you understand what the priorities are in your suburb). Prerequisites are not hard-and-fast. The following are a minimum for promotion to a higher rank; promotion also depends on the recommendation of your CO. If you level up quickly, but no one hears from you or sees you around, you won’t get promoted.
- EMT: levels 1-3, with First Aid skill.
- Entry level. EMTs are assigned to a suburb and help where needed. EMTs report to a Specialist, Deputy Commander if a Specialist is not on staff in that suburb.
- Paramedic: level 4 and above.
- There is one paramedic per fire crew (i.e. they work out of a particular fire station). Paramedics report to a Specialist. Report to a Deputy Commander if a Specialist is not on staff in that suburb.
- Specialist: level 6 and above.
- There is one Specialist in each suburb. They oversee medical teams within the suburb. They are expected to participate in the DEM Officers Forum. Specialists report to Deputy Commanders.
- Deputy Commander: level 12 and above.
- Deputy Commanders are responsible for prioritizing strategic use of personnel within their District. They also handle personnel duties, such as promoting EMTs and paramedics, and recommending Specialists for advancement. They are expected to participate in the DEM Officers Forum. Deputy Commanders report to Commanders.
- Commander: level 16 and above.
- There are four Commanders, one for each division. They are responsible for setting division policy, prioritizing division resources, and organizing personnel for best use. They are expected to participate in the DEM Officers Forum. Commanders report to The Chief Medical Officer.
- Chief Medical Officer: level 16 and above.
- There is one CMO; the CMO is reponsible for drafting policies, making recommendations, creating Academy curriculum, processing new recruits, updating personnel records, pushing papers, and updating this here wiki page.
In all cases, if you come into the MEMS at a level higher than 4, you will start as an EMT and be eligible for promotion to the next rank after two weeks.
