Zombies: 11
http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=501764 AlphaNine was part of the Nineth Light Infantry company before the disaster. The N.L.I. speacialised in new urban warfare tactics that were to be used in city fighting. Nineth company had come to Malton to enforce martial law, put into effect during the begining of the outbreak. Though Nineth company were experts lead by the best they were not fully trained to 'handle' a zombie incursion. Nineth company died as expected in a blaze of gunfire, giving no ground to the slowly encroaching undead. They were obliterated, and though they killed countless Zeds they soon rose again, to join the ranks of a swelling new army. Three recruits did escape into the sewers, disobeying direct orders from thier commanding officer the three would be the only survivng members of Nineth company. Shamed at what they had done they split up that very hour, to go their seperate ways.
The conditions of two of these three survivors is unknown, likely it always will be. This is the story of the one of them who took the title AlphaNine. Alpha is the highest ring of heaven, there are nine circles of hell. Alpha was also the callsign of this soldiers squad, part of the Nineth company.
AlphaNine didn't begin his journey in Dunell Hills. He first emerged from the sewers in a suburb called Edgecombe. Frightened, without any ammo, and armed only with a single shot flare AlphaNines life became a sad tale of running, hiding, and swearing. Nothing was accomplised, he didn't know what to do. He just ran south, somewhere in Scarletwood he got ahold of himself. He decided to see if he could reach the western city limits, also aware he had run south he was inclined to move back north as well. For days he slipped between buildings, always moving Northwest, never looking back, in short he made it to the eastern border of Malton and hugging that started north. Smack dab into Dunell Hills. Alpha couldn't believe it, someone offered him a donut, coffee, and a place to stay. He was in love. Alpha moved north into Peddlesden Village where he fought off the occasional zombie, and rested with a group of DHPD officers. Still new he hadn't yet discovered the DHPDs radio frequency. He was oblivious to the situation when The Shining Ones came. TSO was a badass zombie horde and hearing of the famed DHPD had come to test the might of Dunell Hills. All Alpha knew was his friends were moving back south into Dunell Hills for some reason. Cluelessly he stayed north. It saved his life, but shattered his pride. When AlphaNine finally tuned his radio correctly he was momentarily deafened by the chatter, gunfire, and enthusiastic Yeehaws of the DHPD at war. Alpha would never be out of contact again. AlphaNine now officially signed up with DHPD. With the Shining Ones and DHPD niether giving ground AlphaNine joined the Alpha Squadron Redux. Partly because they reminded him of his former company, partly because he had Alpha in his name, mostly because they were a heavy strike team and mainly because they had the best cappucino. AlphaNine trotted off under orders to West Becktown, to expand the DHPDs territory of operations. Alpha Squad under the command of Marcus Payne sat tight in the all-to-quiet suburb while Dunell Hills was at war. AlphaNine concerned himself with his orders and chopped up every Zombie which shambled into sight. Eventually AlphaNine became a skilled fighter in West Becktown, he honed his skills until he was a force to be reckoned with. Eventually Dunell Hills let out a cry for help, the zombie hordes were taking thier toll. The defense of Dunell Hills was about to begin.
Alpha Squad was recalled into Dunell Hills under orders to secure the northern sections of the suburb. AlphaNine learned to wield a shotgun, and practised his new art on the unfortunate Zeds. The gorilla war raged furiously around him. Zeds were only slightly less pissed than the DHPD and soon the police began to gain the upper hand. learing the North Eastern section of DH Alpha Squad was marched south. AlphaNine learned much during those weeks, like how to pop a pistol bullet into a Zeds head twelve feet away, or how to barricade a building properly. As the war progressed so did the officers of DH, at an rate unmatched by the Feral forces. Slowly but surly DHPD gained ground. The dead lost thier grip and were driven back until they could only hang onto a few key resource buildings. Cotty Precinct, The Fortune building, and Zephyinius Hospital. Now it was the dead who slept in large numbers here, fearing the pastry donut smell of approaching DHPD officers.
