Background
Elpis arrived in the city of Malton the day of the outbreak and following quarantine. He had traveled there to interview for a job opening as an artist in the marketing department at Necrotech. He realized something was wrong when his interviewer showed up with an appetite for human flesh. As the slightly over weight zombie art director sauntered towards him with outstretched arms he ducked out of the office and into the hall only to be confronted by a recently deceased secretary. Shoving her of with his portfolio and ducking between two other reanimated employees he made his way to a small break room where he was cornered by more of his potential undead coworkers. Just when he thought he was finished another survivor in a white lab coat came to his rescue, hitting one of the zombies in the head with a large metal stapler. When the two found some where to hide, the lab tech explained the situation and they began to workout a plan for escape, however on their way out his newfound friend began to show signs of infection. As the tech began to understand what was happening to him he pulled Elpis aside placing a device in his hand, he told Elpis that he didn't have much time and explained how to use the device called a DNA extractor. Elpis promised the tech that he would use the extractor to find and revive him when he could find a syringe, he then made his way to the buildings main entrance. From inside the lobby he could see traffic accidents and smoke drifting though the street as the dead began to take the city, he stepped towards the large double doors a after taking a deep breath he stepped outside into the chaos.
After weeks of living in this new Malton, Elpis has ditched his interview suit and hopes of making a decent pay check. His portfolio has been replaced by a first aid kit and a pocket full of syringes. He may be unarmed but he makes his way through the city searching for the tech that helped him. He has seen so many terrible things but what pains him the most is seeing his fellow survivors killing one another in an endless circle of revenge and cruelty while the cities remaining doctors choose who they think deserve help. He wonders what happened to their sense of compassion and duty, life is important and no one deserves to die. However, even in this extreme situation he keeps his spirits high and does his best to raise the moral of all he meets, sometimes a joke can be just as helpful as a bandage.
