Dr. Joseph E. Parsec was one of many scientists unable to flee Malton during the initial evacuations of the city; Unable to evade the 15-foot barbed-wire fences and British Army snipers, he has found no other choice than to fight the zombie plague from within the confines of the fallen city. In contrast with other skittish, nervous doctors, Parsec, originally part of a NecroTech field research team, has gained a reputation as a gunslinger and is sometimes frowned upon by other doctors, especially ones originally hailing from the British Isles and other nations, for unintentionally emulating such an often-detrimental American stereotype. Nevertheless, he is regarded as an asset to the people he serves, often representing their fighting spirit. Aside from fighting the zombie virus (Suspected to be the notorious Solanum Virus strain) and its carriers, Dr. Parsec is also known for his experiments with necro-biomechanics and quantum physics. His latest project involves trying to prove the existence of an alternate universe.
Early Life
Joe Parsec was born on April 13th, 1979, in Fairbanks, Alaska, to parents Elijah and Leah Parsec. From an early age, he aspired to become an explorer like his father, who had served in several research expeditions in the Arctic Sea. Joe often took advantage of camping trips in the summer, often exploring the nearby Alaskan countryside while impersonating historical figures like Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett, though an incident with a caribou when he was nine nearly frightened the boy away from exploration for good. When Elijah's job brought the Parsecs down to California when Joe was twelve, the transition was somewhat hard on Joe; he could no longer carry around his 10th birthday present, a hunting rifle, without worrying the locals, and neighborhood teenage gangs often gave him trouble. When Joe was thirteen, he found a book on paranormal phenomena at a friend's house. This matter left an impression on Joe and he devoted much time to solving the many mysteries he read about. Though this did not help against the onslaught of bullies who did not share his interests, it bolstered his already considerable interest in the sciences and he graduated high school with an outstanding GPA of 3.98.
College Education
Joe Parsec attended UC Berkeley starting in 1997, majoring in cellular and molecular biology. In 2001, he continued his studies in unnatural biology, studying the then-disputed existence of reanimated life forms. In 2002, he married psychology student Trista Aomori, his sweetheart of 4 years. He received his Master's degree in Necrobiology in 2004 and quickly found work with NecroTech, a then-relatively unknown research firm working with Berkeley and other prominent universities on highly confidential matters.
Business with NecroTech
As a young man looking for adventure, danger, and wealth, Dr. Parsec willingly chose to join Research Team 7, a daredevil Necrotech division specializing in field research in the most remote, dangerous places on earth, as well as seeking out and destroying zombies threatening human lives. However, the risks he took did not pay well enough to support the high cost of living in California. Instead of simply moving elsewhere, Dr. Parsec accepted an offer to take command of an important NecroTech research project in Malton, following the development of a breakthrough treatment for the zombie virus . A simple power malfunction at the lab resulted in the death of his wife and the zombie outbreak in Malton. It is not known to the public where Dr. Parsec is now.
Malton Science Group and Gibsonton Proeliatorate
Dr. Parsec was the 5th member to join the Malton Science Group, and is the oldest active member in the loose alliance of researchers. He was among the scientists who originally founded the Oldidge Way revivification point in Edgecombe, which enjoys a reputation for fast service. In May 2006, he took up work with the Gibsonton Proeliatorate as a revivification technician and a soldier. He now serves as co-captain for the GibPro hunter division, responsible for clearing Gibsonton of PKers and zombie spies. However, due to his current assignment, he is not always found in Gibsonton.
Personality
Dr. Parsec is often described by his colleagues as a gruff, defensive man with a slight mean streak, but also extremely loyal and often among the first to spring into action when the team's survival is threatened, though usually he is often preoccupied with projects of his own. It is suspected that he suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder, as his mentality cam easily change from one of a logical, observant scientist to one of a nearly primal warrior. He does not smoke, though it is occasionally mentioned that he enjoys alchohol. Despite never being officially stated, it is believed that Dr. Parsec's favorite drink is Jack Daniel's whiskey. Despite all these rough, even bad qualities, he does show a certain degree of spirituality in all of the madness that is Malton. Dr. Parsec has fiery red hair, suggesting an Irish or Scottish heritage, which would explain his temperament.
Gay?
No, of course not.
