With Maverick Farrant leveling nicely and the group I had formed steadily growing, I wanted to create another character to break things up. I strongly considered a career zombie, and created one to that effect, but the style of play seemed too monotonous--perhaps due to the fact that I started in a ghost town. Regardless, I decided that a career zombie character would have to wait. Whatever this new character became I knew I didn't want him in a leadership role, and I knew I wanted either a PKer or a medic-style character. Either way I knew that FAKing and stabbing people with needles was the fastest way to level, so I could focus on those skills for the first 6-10 levels and decide on a direction from there. Thus enters Lord Pendragon, who for RPing purposes I chose to style after Saetan from the Dark Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop. HistoryLord Pendragon started in Yagoton, and being the classy fellow that he is he walked north to Southall Mansion. Despite being a civilian like many of the folks of Malton, he chose to stay away from malls--too many young whipper-snappers, and all that noise. He spent a good deal of time early on wandering around the mansion and its immediate surroundings bandaging up folks who had been nibbled on by zombies and smacking ne'er-do-wells with his cane for making a ruckus. After spending a few months of this sort of activity he decided to make a formal application to a respectable group of intellectuals he had heard of, calling themselves the Philosophe Knights. He was accepted into their Order and graduated into his mask on 18 December 2009. His first posted bounty was on 11 February 2010. After giving his first lesson to one of Malton's many ignorant citizens, Lord Pendragon decided he needed some method to distinguish himself among his white-masked brethren. He then began to compile a list of educational phrases to hand out as necessary, generally choosing choice bits of material from great works of literature. He also began to brand his "students" with his ring, as a kind of permanent reminder of their ignorance for all to see. Following in the footsteps of one of his fellows, Lord Pendragon elected to embark on a Culture Tour of his own. Depending on his mood that day survivors might find him out for blood... or just out to read a good book. Lord Pendragon took a break from his Culture and Education Tour to participate in Axe Hack's Manhunt 3 during July 2010. Backstory
A. Pendragon was a well-to-do businessman before the outbreak. Finally at an age where he could take more time to get his affairs in order and less time doing grunt work, his employees saw him as a fair--if rather strict--boss. He had taken the small fledgling bookstore and made it one of the most successful in Malton. Just two weeks before the first infections were reported within the city limits, A. Pendragon retired. Looking forward to days of quiet relaxation, he understood that the youth of Malton needed to keep up with their studies. Malton's educational system was floundering, and he couldn't stand it. He contacted the Malton Museum Association and the Library of Malton about making large donations for the furtherance of education to the citizenry. Both accepted the donations graciously, and the Malton Museum Association bestowed upon him the honorific title of "Lord". Then it came. Like locusts to farmland, the infection came and devoured everything in its path. Whole families were turned in a matter of hours; suburbs sometimes in a single day. On the one hand he was sublimely amused because people were forced to be happy for what they had, even if it wasn't much; on the other hand many of them also cared little for basic education. Finally, he had had enough. He wasn't that old yet--the hair at his temples had just begun to gray--and he was going to educate every last person in the city. By himself, if need be. |
