Siege Logs

These are the journals I keep of sieges my characters have been in.

thereaper zombie's Caiger Mall Log (4th Siege)

1/4/07
12:11 PM EST
It's about time I started a log for this siege, eh? I've been here at Caiger ever since leaving Stickling, long before the harmanz ambushed us and rebarricaded the place. And speaking of Stickling, I'm pleased to report that it and Giddings were both shacked by Shacknews, leading to their subsequent exodus from Malton (I miss them so much!). But in more relevant news, I waited until now to start a log partially due to laziness and partially because I hadn't really done much except hack away at barricades. Today was an exception, as I successfully managed to breach the Latrobe building and do quite a lot of damage to one harman before happily watching him get dragged outside. Ah, the sounds of harman screams are so relaxing...

1/7/07
2:31 PM EST
I stood up today to find Latrobe wide open. Naturally, I shambled inside to begin the day's slaughter. I began by dragging a wounded harman outside to help feed the less fortunate (remember kids, always donate to charity!), and then continued to beat another harman to within an inch of his life. At this very moment he is probably being educated in the ways of Barhah by one of my zambah friends. The harmanz of Latrobe are outnumbered by at least 4 to 1, so they cannot hope to maintain their cursed barricades against our might for long. Glory to the zambahz!

1/8/07
11:04 AM EST
The harmanz have become slightly wiser, and the ratio of zambahz to harmanz at Latrobe is now only 3:1, down from 4:1 as of yesterday. They may have the edge now in strength, but we zambahz have the advantage of superior intellect and determination. We shall emerge victorious from this and reclaim what is rightfully ours!

1/9/07
12:21 PM EST
Breached Latrobe today. There was another zombie already inside (probably left over from another breach, or came in at the same time as me). Didn't have enough AP left to hurt anyone, though.

1/16/07
12:28 PM EST
Breached Latrobe again today. Got some testing in for my tangling grasp data. Not much else to report.

1/18/07
12:38 PM EST
Spent the day attacking some dumb harmanz that were outside shooting at us. Don't they know that they're wasting AP? Oh well; all the better for us!

1/22/07
4:05 PM EST
Oh, I came so close to breaching Latrobe several times today. Unfortunately, at low levels harmanz can somehow build those curesed structures called barricades 4 times as fast as I can tear them down. And it really makes no sense when you think about it. I mean, we zambahz are much stronger than harmanz, so any sort of fortifications they can build should be easy for us to destroy. Oh well, maybe an answer will come to me as I sway slightly for the night.

1/29/07
Around 4 PM EST
Woke up to find Latrobe wide open today and a wounded harman outside. I took a chance and killed him. Fortuntately for me, the building was still open when I was done, and I entered quickly to begin my work. Brought one harman all the way down to 1 point of their life. And I would have finished the job too, if another zombie hadn't beaten me to the claw. Well, as long as the harmanz die, I don't care who lands the last blow; because when it's all said and done, it will have been the Barhah that really did the harmanz in.

2/5/07
2:46 PM EST
We took Latrobe today. So, as one might guess, I began attacking the mall itself. I managed to breach one of the corners and did a bit of damage. Now they're gonna have to waste a lot of ammo and AP to get rid of me. Ammo and AP that they won't be able to use in trying to re-take Latrobe.

2/7/07 Endgame
2:40 PM EST
Today is a glorious day, for it most likely marks our reclamation of Caiger Mall. Two of the corners were ransacked and the harmanz remaining in the mall are being eaten as I log this entry. Soon none shall remain. To think our victory would come so soon after the fall of Latrobe! Then again, the same was true of the last siege, save for the fact that the time interval was so much shorter and the siege much longer. But I digress. Glory to the horde! Let the Barhah fill every corner of the mall as it once did! Let us show the harmanz what happens when they try to take that which is rightfully ours!

2/8/07
2:01 PM EST
The last harman was eaten at around 03:51 UTC yesterday. The siege is over. Now it's time to cleanse the surrounding areas of harmanz. We're doing them a favor, really. Anyone dumb enough to remain here without a good plan is definitely the weakest link. You gotta love natural selection...

thereaper zombie's Stickling Mall Siege Log

12/06/06
9:12 AM EST
There is trouble abroad. The harmanz are preparing to attempt an assault in the hopes of retaking Caiger. But Caiger is our territory now, and the living are no longer permitted there. I must do my part to ensure it's safety. As much as I enjoy shacking malls with Shacknews, my vow to defend Caiger comes first. And so, I regretfully take my leave of Stickling Mall and trek back to Caiger to prepare for the harman assault. Let them come, and we shall greet them with ripping claws and gnashing teeth!

12/05/06
8:48 AM EST
We almost took Whippey again yesterday. The harmanz just barely managed to clear us out. Meanwhile, someone actually combat-revived me. Well, it wasn't long before my bretheren returned me to the glorious realm of the Barhah. Ah, how I missed it for those few moments. I don't know how the harmanz manage to survive with the burden. We must save them from themselves. It is our duty to put their minds and spirits at ease through the power of BARHAH!

12/02/06
3:29 PM EST
Well, not much to report today, except that I managed to get the Whippey barricades down from EHB to Loosely despite the presence of someone putting up more barricades on the other side.

12/01/06
8:48 AM EST
These harmanz seem to be smarter than those of Caiger. Supposedly, we successfully broke into Whippey last night and ransacked it last night. The victory was short-lived however, as the harmanz managed to evict us soon after. I can't confirm any of this because I wasn't on at the time; I'm just the messenger in this case.

11/29/06
Around 9:25 AM EST
Haven't done much the past couple of days except hack away at the barricades. Only noteworthy thing to happen is that there seems to have been a very gradual increase in the number of zombies here at Whippey. It could just be my imagination, though.

11/27/06
11:09 AM EST
Scratched plastic trees today. That is all.

11/26/06
Around 7:10 PM EST
Not much happened today, except a lot of zombies have gathered outside of the Whippey building (the NT I mentioned in my last entry). I attacked the barricades a lot. Got them to down to VS. Like I said, not much happened today.

11/25/06
1:55 PM EST
Ok, so it may not have officially begun yet, but it's definitely going to soon, so I figured I'd get a jump start on things. Anyway, somebody saved me the trouble of having to find a revive point (I wanted to buy NT employment) by reviving me. Whoever you are, thanks. I was going to go find a horde so that I could return to my bretheren, but they found me first. But before I could get up to thank them, they were gone. Ah, you gotta love those ninja zambahz. You'll be dead before you even knew they were there...

Anyway, I headed for Stickling Mall, since it appears my hunch was right on the money about Shacknews heading for Shearbank. I found a harman outside and began attacking him. He fought back and managed to kill me, but not before I got some XP and tangling grasp data out of him. After that, I put my new NT employment skill to use and attacked the nearest NT building with my last few AP.

thereaper zombie's Bale Mall Siege Log

11/21/06
The Day Bale Mall Fell Around 9 AM EST
Well, the NW and SE corners have been ransacked. This mall is dead; it just doesn't know it yet. By tomorrow all 4 corners will have been ransacked. And I happily did my part to help ensure that by entering and attacking harmanz in the NE corner. I killed one and wounded another before running out of AP this time (and got to purchase Scent Trail).
9:10 AM note: Well, looks like it's not even gonna take until tomorrow. Somewhere between the time I AP'ed out (I have since apparently regenerated an AP and can see what is going on) and the time I wrote the above entry, the NE corner has been taken over. I just hit the ransack button and it appears that no one ransacked it yet. Oddly enough, I still have an AP left. Weird, eh (possibly a glitch)? Well, here's a screenshot to prove that I did it. I'm so proud of myself, no matter how easy this mall was to take down.
Another Note: Ok, the place has officially fallen. If I'm calculating the numbers correctly, it was at 1:54 PM EST (the last corner was supposedly ransacked at around 18:54 UTC).

11/20/06
9:06 AM EST
It seems that Bale's defenses aren't very strong. People were talking about it falling in a single attack. Although that doesn't seem to have happened, the fact remains that it clearly is not very strong. Therefore, I decided to attack the mall itself and leave Pippen alone for now. I took the NW cades down from Very Heavy to Quite Strong before running out of AP.

11/19/06
A little before 4 PM EST
It seems that Shacknews is going after Yagoton next. That place tends to be green way too often (and it's great smashing/slashing/biting alongside the Shacknews horde), so I've decided to follow them. Since they aready took down the NTs, I went after Pippen Auto Repair. The loose barricades didn't stand in my way for long and I entered to find there was already another zombie there. Everyone in there seemed to be inactive, however, as there was no resistance while I attacked and killed a harman, gaining valuable data about tangling grasp in the process as well as purchasing Scent Blood (was very tempted to get Scent Trail, but that'll probably be next).

thereaper zombie's Caiger Mall Log (3rd Siege)

11/10/06 The Day Caiger Fell
8:47 AM EST
This is the best birthday present I could ever ask for (yes, today really is my birthday; I'm 20 now). Caiger is doomed. We've gained a foothold in the SW corner. When I saw the news on the wiki, my eyes became wider than dinner plates. I logged in and saw that the SW corner was indeed wide open. I went inside and found 90+ zombies there. The word "happy" could never describe the joy I felt. Even "elated" or "ecstatic" fails to encompass the feeling. I, of course, immediately began eating my "birthday cake". It tasted like harman brains. Yummy. Got to buy Scent Fear, too. I killed one harman and almost killed another (someone else dealt the finishing blow) today. Ah, this is a great moment in Urban Dead. In the future people will look back on this day and remember it as "The day Caiger's fate was sealed". And this day will always hold a special place in my motionless heart as the best birthday present in history.

11/8/06
10:14 AM EST
It appears that the harmanz have managed to seize control of Holloms again. I don't see why they bothered. Fuel cans aren't much good without generators, and they've supposedly been having a lot of problems with GKers lately. I'd be willing to bet some of them are combat-revived zambahz, too. Ah, well. Might as well try to take the place back, just in case the harmanz ever get a large surplus of generators.

11/7/06
Around 9 AM EST
We took Holloms Auto Repair a few days ago. I didn't participate in that particular part of the battle (to be honest, I didn't even know we were going after it; if I had I probably would've helped there). Unlike Latrobe, the harmanz are trying pretty hard to get this one back (go figure). After doing some damage to a few harmanz that were trying to take potshots at my bretheren, I made sure to end the day inside of Holloms, just to do my part to make sure it stays ransacked.

11/4/06
4:50 PM EST
I breached Caiger. Today when I logged on, I figured I would check the NW corner and see how it was doing. It was quite strongly barricaded. I tore down the barricades and at 4:47 PM EST I entered the place where few undead even dream of entering. I entered Caiger Mall. I immediately began attacking the closest harman and did quite a bit of damage before running out of AP (and got enough XP to buy Feeding Drag). Now, regardless of this siege's ultimate outcome, I can claim a victory of my own. I breached Caiger Mall, and no harman can ever take that away from me.

11/2/06
Around 9 AM EST
Latrobe has been ransacked. I can't help but feel that I, in some small way, helped to make this so. Of course, the harmanz want to take it back, so they keep sending more people in trying to clear us out and repair the damage we have done. Good luck. They aren't nearly organized enough. From what I hear they've got at least a couple hundred people who could be attacking us but just won't. That mistake will cost them dearly. Latrobe is ours. Soon, the mall itself will follow.

10/31/06
Around 11:20 AM EST
I go to log on, and the first thing I see is that the updates section has a different set of words than it did yesterday. I read, and learn of the dense fog and minor updates. I log on and continue my assault of Latrobe. The first thing I notice is just how much the fog obscures things. My first thought upon seeing this is "Caiger is in deep trouble today". As if to prove me right, the Latrobe building is wide open. I go inside and begin my assault on the harmans within. In the ensuing fighting I do a great deal of damage to two humans (I would have killed one of them, but someone else got to them first), and got enough XP to purchase Infectious Bite. I wouldn't be surprised if Latrobe falls today. In fact, part of me is expecting it. And once Latrobe falls, Caiger will lose one of it's main sources of syringes, which will give us zambahs a huge advantage. Ah, Halloween...Such a great holiday...

10/30/06
Around 9:20 AM EST
Latrobe is in big trouble. After what happened yesterday, I expected that it would be a while before I managed to see the inside of a building again. I was wrong. I logged on today and found the place loosely barricaded. I tore them down and went inside. My AP hadn't fully regenerated yet, but I still managed to kill one survivor and injure another before running out. There were also 4 other zombies inside and almost 200 outside. I don't think Latrobe will last very much longer at this rate.

10/29/06
Around 10 PM EST
Since thereaper zombie has been actively engaged in the 3rd seige of Caiger Mall, I'm going to start taking a log of what goes on. To give a basic summary of everything so far, I started attacking Caiger once I found out that the siege had officially begun. I've made some half-hearted attempts at weakening Caiger itself, but I've been spending most of my days attacking Latrobe. Today I logged in to find it open. I could hardly believe my eyes. I went inside and managed to kill one survivor and injure another before being killed. There were about 80 survivors in there and 149 zombies outside. By the time I was dumped the place had been heavily barricaded again. But I am still happy. If nothing else, I had seen the inside of Latrobe. And I had caused a casualty within said building. Plus, I got enough XP for my next skill. I was thinking of getting Feeding Groan, but decided Digestion would be more useful for the current situation. I'll get feeding groan some other time, probably after infectious bite.

2nd Battle of Blackmore

11/22/06
Around 8:35 AM EST
When I logged in today, I was still dead. Since there was no one in the area to "Mrh?" at, I decided to check on the status of the Blackmore building. What greeted me was a horrible sight. 149 zombies outside, and 127 zombies inside with the place (obviously) ransacked. No survivors in sight. The second battle of Blackmore is a failure. I guess I'll just have to shamble on over to another suburb for a revive (I'll probably go check out the new fort mechanics too, as I've been just itching to do that since they were implemented). The fall of Blackmore is unfortunate, but I knew it was going to happen eventually. I just didn't think it would be this soon.

But to any survivors that are reading this (yes, zombies are literate; they just don't bother reading unless absolutely necessary), don't give up hope. One building was lost; a building situated in the most undead-controlled area of Malton. That's all. It was a battle, yes. But like any other battle, it is only a small part of a much greater conflict. That conflict is the war between survivors and zombies for control of Malton. And they haven't won that yet. Even if they win every battle, as long as we can rebuild as fast as they destroy, we will always survive. And after all, isn't survival what we're really after? So take heed, and remember that as long as we are alive, we are also victorious.

11/21/06
Around 12:40 PM EST
Well, I got killed in my sleep. Not much to do except go wait at a revive point and hope the place is still standing when I get revived. Just in case a potential reviver is reading this, I'm at Philips Road, 2 blocks north of Blackmore.

11/20/06
Around 9:40 AM EST
There must've been a break-in last night, cause there's zombies inside now. Did what I could with regards to ax-ing and dumping bodies. Still a few left inside, though. Hopefully somebody else will get to them before they can do any more damage.

On a few side notes, one of the guys I healed yesterday thank me (although it would be better if he didn't do it by name), and I got Basic Firearms training (hadn't bothered to get it before since the axe is this survivor's primary weapon).

11/19/06
Didn't do much today except heal a guy or two and search for FAKs in a nearby hospital.

11/18/06
I've decided to help out the survivors holed up in Blackmore. Honestly, I think they're going to lose in the end, mainly because the zombies will never let us have a stronghold in Ridleybank. However, that doesn't make the battle any less worthwhile. After all, it's not like we can actually stop the zombies permanently anywhere; all we can do is hold them off as best we can. So, I'm gonna do just that at Blackmore. After a 2-day-long (and dangerous) trek through Shackleville and Stanbury Village, I arrived in Ridleybank (and Blackmore) for the first time. During the entire siege on Caiger all thereaper civilian had done was search for gennys and fuel cans in the south. The reason I chose this character for Blackmore was because I figured those would come in handy. As if to prove my point, there was no power on in Blackmore. So, solving that problem was the first thing I did at the Blackmore Building. Hopefully I'll be able to do something more as time passes.
