Scalable Diseases

Timestamp: Timestamp
Type: Skill tree off of Infectious Bite
Scope: Zombies
Description: Two added skills under Infectious Bite. They do not modify the current effectiveness of being Infected, but rather requires higher levels of medical training to remove after being bitten.
  • Festering Wound To remove this higher form of Infection, a survivor must have a First aid kit and First Aid
  • Mutated Infection To remove the highest form of Infection, a survivor must have a First aid kit, the medical knowledge of a Surgeon, and be in a hospital with power

Votes

  • Keep Author. I'm not positive about making the highest form require a hospital with power, perhaps just make it the flat Surgery skill. As allways, names are up for grab.--Spellbinder 00:58, 12 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Messages and coments from the masses

Carfan

Your page has no places to have messages so I put one here. Anyways, I have no idea what you were talking about on point three; arms? Where did I talk about that? I know you hate my guts, but you don't have to insult me in your comments about my suggestions. I know you think they are crap, but you should write it a bit more kindly. I hope you don't mind that I put this section onto your page. Oh yeah; good luck with your characters. :D --Carfan7 00:22, 7 Nov 2005 (GMT)

heh, i thought you ment "arms" when you posted about "gun shops"--Spellbinder 00:20, 7 Nov 2005 (GMT)

When I said gun shops I meant the ones in the malls --Carfan7 00:22, 7 Nov 2005 (GMT)who is the other thor?````

Do you think I can post the one about the shotgun slugs now? It's like 12:00 am where I live anyways. --Carfan7 00:23, 7 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Also, I'm keeping the suggestions you said to kill, so I can find out how other players feel about it. More there 10 Kills, then-POOF-it's gone :D --Carfan7 00:27, 7 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Heh, i'm sorry about the "ONE POST A DAY!!!" thing. i was trying to slow you down. this is the first day on the opening board... everybody wants a shot at posting there ideas. don't post all your ideas in one single day, spread them out a bit. and sence most of your skills fell into the same "catagory" class stuff.... meh. but anyways, to directly answer you, yes post your slugs, see how people feel about them--Spellbinder 00:33, 7 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Oh yeah absolutly keep your ideas. i'm only one person, i don't rule the world. Once or twice i've even been known to be wrong. and again i'm sorry about the kneejerk reaction. --Spellbinder 00:36, 7 Nov 2005 (GMT)

How did I delete a whole day and where?! I didn't do anything big, so how did I delete it???? --Carfan7 02:01, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

But was it me? What happened? I'm confused.  :( --Carfan7 02:01, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

I have no idea Carfan. I really don't. You made a perfectly innocent edit, then WAMMO, everything was undone. I'm at a serious loss to explain any of it. --Spellbinder 02:04, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

It's okay though, everything is back in its proper place. Weird though, I wonder what that was. --Spellbinder 02:05, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Well, at least it's normal now. --Carfan7 02:09, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

All I did was edit your post with capitals and puncutation and maybe some spelling. Is that wrong now is it just because I edited it is it my fault or John's fault? --Carfan7 02:32, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

its johns. sorry, i didn't pay enough attation. but you DO see what john didn right? here: User_talk:Jon_Pyre

So do you want me to delete it then? --Carfan7 02:23, 5 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Yeah thanks. Should I at least wait until 2 more spam votes? --Carfan7 02:27, 5 Dec 2005 (GMT)

yea. that way at least everybody can point and laugh--Spellbinder 02:29, 5 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Hahahaha :P --Carfan7 02:31, 5 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Kinslayer has 3 spam votes and all kill votes. Time to delete.... *Grins and laughs maniacally* --Carfan7 02:36, 5 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Matthew-Stewart

Mr Spellbinder, I was wondering, you seemed to agree with the Congealed flesh idea, why did you vote to kill it? Thank you for your time. --Matthew-Stewart 17:59, 7 Nov 2005 (GMT)

One, its under the tree with Calloused, an idea i find abhorant, and i'm just not convinced that it needs to be put into the game. i'm pretty on the fence about this one, but i didn't want to put a middle ground vote, and i am leaning farther to kill then keep. we allready do have bodybuilding, after all--Spellbinder 18:07, 7 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Those are very good points. I voted for keep because you pointed out as written it would stack with Body Build and I think would be a good skill the the Brain Rot Skill Tree. Thank you for replying--Matthew-Stewart 20:08, 7 Nov 2005 (GMT)

I was trying to move the comments of your vote (you being the author and all) to the text of the suggestion. I reverted it because the formatting came out "funny". Sorry about that. --Matthew-Stewart 01:28, 12 Dec 2005 (GMT)

No problem. actualy i was going for a "cleen" suggestion, with any of my misgivings underneath it. no big deal.--Spellbinder 01:31, 12 Dec 2005 (GMT)

My suggestion Zombie Power achieved good review not because I held back my misgivings but because I listed them in the options which were much more popular than the main idea. I think you'll get more Keep votes by listing the "power-not-needed" and "name-change" option in the suggestion text.--Matthew-Stewart 01:38, 12 Dec 2005 (GMT)

hummm... yea perhaps. i'll move it around--Spellbinder 01:41, 12 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Odd Starter

SB, please don't circumnvent the Suggestions rules, even if it looks like it's going to pass so clearly. Leave it there for the two weeks, please. There's nothing in the guidelines that states that what you did is correct procedure. In two weeks it will still be as good a suggestion as it is now. -- Odd Starter 05:37, 8 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Meh, sorry. figured i was just helping. i'll put it back if you don't firstedit: oops, guess i can't put back all the coments too. heh. live and learn.--Spellbinder 05:40, 8 Nov 2005 (GMT)

'tis OK - I grabbed it out of the history and put it back. -- Odd Starter 05:43, 8 Nov 2005 (GMT)

No, no Mistake - still building the page. It will be up in around 10-15 minutes. -- Odd Starter 02:13, 5 Dec 2005 (GMT)

oh. wow, who would have guessed that i would have clicked at just the right moment?--Spellbinder 02:14, 5 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Thor

far as time stamp the fourth icon over for me is the one with the planet on it looks like some kind of web link then you said type this Thor 19:55, 9 Nov 2005 (GMT)

lets see if that worked and thanks for your response. THOR

OK, from what i can tell there are two thor's that are actualy two different people, but i'm not sure. One of the thors wanted timestamping help, if your the OTHER thor i'm sorry, i was trying to respond to him.--Spellbinder 20:22, 9 Nov 2005 (GMT)
I got it too work finally! thanks for the help and no thanks for being an anal twat about it, really gives the impression your just a hair away from going postal if thats the impression you mean to give off. see I do it here ```` but i cant time stamp things using that because it leaves my name idiot! Thor
you have difficulty understanding how to timestamp, you blantly put incorrect timestamps on your suggestions AFTER you proclaim you know what your doing, you double post as different users, you can't even log in as the same th0r twice in a row, you carry on like a 13 year old (i suspect your actualy closer to 15), and you critize me?--Spellbinder 01:11, 10 Nov 2005 (GMT)
heh heh heh, you were baned. i feel strangly justifyed. take THAT thor--Spellbinder 01:47, 10 Nov 2005 (GMT)

What is your problem with hiding from zombies? People hide from zombies all the time. It's a basic tenet of zombie movies. That's pretty much all they DO--you can't fight the whole horde, so stealth and speed are your only options. It's perfectly appropriate and already in-game, or what do you call being in barricaded buildings?--'STER 19:49, 9 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Being able to hide deprives the zombie players of being able to attack you. I know this sounds like a redundent statement, but seriously think about the logistics and conquences. See, i *do* call hiding in buildings hiding. the RIGHT kind of hidden. but being able to go out onto the street and "cloak" yourself from zombies is ludicris. OR being able to hide in a building after the barricades are torn down and zombies open the doors.--Spellbinder 20:22, 9 Nov 2005 (GMT)

One problem: most of the suggestions you voted against on those grounds didn't involve hididng in that way. At least one prominently said that you'd only be invisible to people in adjacent squares, and people in the same square as you can see you...--'STER 21:47, 9 Nov 2005 (GMT)

True enough, however, i objected to them for the same reason. the one you listed i also added the coding aspect, but thats a minor thing compaired to the princeapul of the matter--Spellbinder 22:14, 9 Nov 2005 (GMT)

i better back this one up too. As a low level zombie, it takes 2 AP to walk around. usualy, i dunno about other people, i walk in the direction where i see something i can attack. the skill you list deprives low level zombies that. see, i'm not arguing with the way it works. i can SEE how it works, i read the decription. i voted to kill it because i know what it is and i think its unfair to the low level characters.--Spellbinder 01:11, 10 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Alright, yes, it was a stupid suggestion, but please don't delete it without the requisite number of spam votes.--'STER-Talk-Mod 03:23, 13 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Mcarrowni

About timestamps. I have left a signature on many of my votes on the suggestion page which I made myself, since I didn't know how to use the server's timestamps back then. I put in my link to my user page and the date, but no hour. And when close to midnight I might have missed a day. You said to continue the discussion about it here I believe. So I'm wondering if I should edit my votes to make sure they are counted. They are usualy posted right after whomever was last in the vote list at the time. Anyways, those old signatures look like this: McArrowni 10 Nov 2005

Ok, now that dosen't look too horrable. personaly.... i would just fib a little. Most suggestions got a responce withen the first 15 min, so base your time off of the first vote. If you wanted to, you COULD go thru the history if you had a rough idea of the time. do you know how do go thru the history logs? Odd Starter's edit to one of my early errors that got me moving in the right direction.
As a general rule, if you're willing to take ownership of the suggestion, that's the main issue. It's preferred that you use the ~~~~ signature because it's perfectly accurate, and use of it allows us to check suggestion timestamps for verification. We ask people to sign it so that we know who's voted - and so that people who haven't voted can remove their name from the list if someone using their signature fraudulently. -- Odd Starter 04:04, 10 Nov 2005 (GMT)
I think I've been misunderstood. It's my votes that have a weird timestamp. My lone suggestion used the full server McArrowni 15:39, 11 Nov 2005 (GMT) thing

About the duplicate suggestions, I've located two old "fire out of buildings" suggestions. See my talk page :) --McArrowni 03:09, 20 Nov 2005 (GMT) Added link to an history page with a .22 rifle on it. As well as a sub machine gun. One of those is the horror you are trying to permadeath. --McArrowni 03:34, 20 Nov 2005 (GMT)

LibrarianBrent

Hahaha, don't suggest things that change APs? RTFM... --LibrarianBrent 06:27, 10 Nov 2005 (GMT)

as IN, don't suggest skills that give you over the 50ap max, or a faster rate of AP gain.--Spellbinder 06:42, 13 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Squashua

thanks Squashua. little bit of new triva- Me!

Sknig

I find your name ironic ;) --Sknig 01:31, 17 Nov 2005 (GMT)

heh, if you want to know, i play a wizard/cleric in almost every game that features magic. thats where the name stems from. I also go by Muddball.--Spellbinder 20:23, 17 Nov 2005 (GMT)
Oh, I meant as in word spelling, not magic spells. You make quite a few spelling errors. I certainly don't hold that against you; I just like irony and decided to point it out. --Sknig 23:46, 17 Nov 2005 (GMT)
hehehehe, oh yea. phuck spelling--Spellbinder 03:40, 18 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Bentley Foss

In reply to your "re" issue (heh), you're right, and I shall refrain from now on. Sometimes it just catches me the wrong way and....aaauuugh! Drives me nuts. "The valuable time I spent dropping a newspaper"...I mean, c'mon, heh.... I do tend to get a bit caustic sometimes, which is odd behavior for me (believe it or not). I guess it's just something about a wiki. :) I s'pose, to set the good example for the masses... Bentley Foss 03:42, 22 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Yep, some days I get verbose. Sadly, I lacked the time to compress that "degrading barricades" response. Thanks though. :-D Bentley Foss 03:10, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Yes, I'm a copycat, heh...But holy crap, the ideas for the last few days have sucked so badly that I haven't bothered posting "kill" on them. Yeesh. Did the game get a new influx of stupid people, or just the wiki, I wonder? Bentley Foss 02:46, 29 Nov 2005 (GMT)

I know, bentley, i know. i meen, i complained about my beating bat geting overused, but DAMN i had no idea! and not to be a egomanic, but did you see how many quotes i got over on the peer rejected page? i feel so pretty now. :)--Spellbinder 02:53, 29 Nov 2005 (GMT)

I'm still going to vote kill for the improved Infection suggestion. Bite is pretty powerful as it is. I'll go for one of the improvements, but not both. I dunno. I'll think about it later. Bentley Foss 02:43, 12 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Amazing

Hi.. Please don't delete my suggestion again, if you don't mind.. I could explain it all, but if you want to look back in the logs you could see for yourself. I'm making a statement here, and if you could at least leave it to the involved parties to delete or argue, that'd be cool. -- Amazing 06:07, 22 Nov 2005 (GMT)

duke it out among yourselfs, whatever man, i don't care. but you are posting a suggestion that looks exactly like another suggestion, THATS why its going to go. Its not complicated. your being stubborn, its not personal, many have come before you in this department. and your little modifications are a technicality, not a difference--Spellbinder 06:38, 22 Nov 2005 (GMT)
Put the suggestion back up before I have to. You're acting against regulations. I am giving you a chance to before I do it myself. The spam voted for the new listing was not uncontested, so for that reason you are in the wrong and are violating the rules. -- Amazing 23:42, 22 Nov 2005 (GMT)
*laughs* dude, as opposed to creating new accounts because you were baned? ok. you know what, i WILL. i'll put every one of those KILL votes back. but on one condition. when, not if, but WHEN this goes into the peer rejected pile, you will not try to modify this any more, you will quietly let it go to its grave. deal?--Spellbinder 23:46, 22 Nov 2005 (GMT)
note: apprently not. --Spellbinder 02:21, 29 Nov 2005 (GMT)

RSquared

Ahoy, I think I sorted it out. It LOOKED like a lull in people making changes... --RSquared 00:19, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Yea, that was weird how it all came flying back. --Spellbinder 02:99, 23 Nov 2005

HamChoi

Hi there.

I have a question. Please go to my talk. HamChoi 03:22, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Dickie Fux

I wonder if you could give me a little detail on your vote for Monstrous Form? Do you think the skill itself is too complicated, or do think adding zombie classes is too much? I think part of the reason there are so many more survivors than zombies is that there's only one zombie class, so once you've leveled up through the zombie skill tree, there are no other zombie classes to play around with. I think of the current zombies as the Romero class zombies, and Giltwist's and my suggestion as Resident Evil class; I don't really see any other way to create zombie classes. Thanks. --Dickie Fux 04:09, 29 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Not a problem. My first point was the second attack. while it may sound usefull, running mutipul checks with each button click is slightly more complex then most of the basic stuff we have in game now. the major computation that goes on in the server right now is the 100% (also known as a d%) chance check on searches and attacks. everything else is a flag. except for TWO things, its either yes or no. while i'm not positive how searching works, i think its just a minor check. did you find something yes/no, then it consults the list. at MOST, searching requires two d% checks. attacks only require one. so your suggestion would raise the number of checks that an attack must go thru to two. and i'm assuming that the skill % computations are all flags. hell, a check MIGHT require up to 8-9 checks, i dunno how kevin set it up. but thats all technal bullcrap, and can pretty much be sumed up with the ever dreaded words "puts too much stress on the server"

again with the second attack, i almost wonder if its worth it? i meen, a small chance to inflict one point? i dunno. maeby as a stand alone skill, but what your suggesting is wholy unique to this class. thats something that absolutly no other class in the game has, an exclusive trait for brainrotted zombies. another somehthing i don't like.

and the flax jacket loss suggestion looks like a carrot. it dosen't fit, you know it, i know it. it was put in to starve off the slobbering masses of compromise. you threw it in in a fit of weakness. while i'm not saying its not a point on the positive side of it, but its an add on that dosen't fit.

I know this stems from wanting to add varity to the game, but honestly, i just think the zombie skills kick butt and are really good, its just not enough people want to play the "bad guy" and that humans will allways be more appealing then zombies.--Spellbinder 23:14, 29 Nov 2005 (GMT)
Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like you know more about programming than I do; I envisioned something like
  1. Check for regular attack
  2. If attack is successful, complete first attack; check 5% for second attack.
  3. If check fails, stop; if check succeeds, run another check for attack at regular attack chances.
  4. If check fails, stop; if check succeeds, deal damage as normal (4 for bite, 3-4 for claw).
I don't know if that's what came across in my explanation or not, or if that's how it could possibly work. So, although there are a number of checks, only 5% of the time would it be more than one extra check. The 5% was a lowballed number; I could see it as high as twenty or thirty without being too powerful. Also, it's not a single point of damage, it's regular attack damage, but without bite abilities.
I don't intend the skill to be exclusive to the class, only that it require Brainrot; if fact, I could see the skill as a stand-alone suggestion. So, a player could run the whole survivor skill tree, die, run the whole zombie skill tree, and may not buy this skill until the very last. Or, they could start as a zombie, buy Brain Rot, and get Monstrous Form as their second skill.
The Flak Jacket thing occurred to me at the last minute. I think it fits fairly well, if you envision a zombie with an extra half an arm growing out of its side. It could go -- I'm sure its an insurmountable drawback for some.
I think you're right that more people want to shoot zombies than play zombies, but I think, as soon as a new zombie class is introduced, whatever form it may take, there will be a significant jump in the number of active zombies, from all the maxed out players looking for something to do.
Again, thanks for the comments. Hope all that made sense, and maybe it'll make you look the suggestion over again. --Dickie Fux 00:32, 30 Nov 2005 (GMT)
