Logistics, logistics, logistics

Before everyone goes jumping in, let's make sure it gets done right this time by handling all of the issues that need figuring out in advance. So, quickly, here are some concerns I have:

1. Having both the GSM2010suburb and GSM2011suburb template on the suburb talk pages will break some pages (probably quite a few, in fact, since just the GSM2010suburb by itself broke a page or two last year). The template is simply too big, and having it included multiple times on the same page was not something I planned for when I made it, so either we need to remove last year's template, or else we need to rework/remove the use of the template this year. Personally, I'm in favor of just removing the old one entirely and slapping a new one on the pages.
2. I think I can clean up the code for GSM2011suburb some more so that you don't have to fill in signatures as many times. Let me take a look at that before we get going, but don't wait for me if I drag my heels.
3. What's the procedure for coordinating groups that are listed in multiple suburbs? For instance, if I'm in charge of suburb A, Yonn has B, and Misanthropy has C, and a group that used to be listed in all three now says they are only in A and C, do I mark them as confirmed for A, Mis does the same for C, and Yonn marks them as removed from B? Or is there something more to it than that?
4. What day does it start on? We don't want people jumping the gun.
5. How do we deal with groups that do not provide a list of suburbs they are in, but do respond as if it were the same as previous years?

Most of these should be quick and easy to figure out, but I just wanted to make sure they weren't glossed over and that we hadn't missed anything with them, so having some more eyes looking at them should help us find any trouble areas in advance. —Aichon— 00:31, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Archiving works, can't work magic since people started and it'd be awkward now, sounds good, you all suck for jumping the gun just like last year, and I'd like some other consideration on the matter since we're breaking them in and don't want too many complaints. I'll go back and archive for the burbs I've done. And to be honest, if we're just going to make things even easier for people who refuse to read, there's little point actually adding this new clause. Archived my suburb talks so far. And as Mis, I'd be in favour of complete removal in case of no suburb-listing. Re-adding is trivially easy, and if it happens, abandoned burbs will be spared, cutting down on clutter. If they don't re-add themselves, it also means less clutter, and also that the group likely doesn't watch the wiki. In either case, the clean-up has achieved something. Else, we get another year of DEM and Undeadites in every damn suburb -_- -- Spiderzed▋ 01:13, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Going back to #3, what if a group lists a suburb that they haven't previously listed themselves in? So, to go with my previous example, they say that they are active in A, C, and D, but they were not previously listed in D, so the person assigned to D would not check their page. —Aichon— 19:14, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Let them add themselves if they feel that they are active there, with possibly (and optionally!) leaving a note about the gap if the massacrer feels like it. We are here to clean house and keep the suburb listings from going to shit, not to do the work for groups that are so sloppy on wiki maintenance that they miss out on an opportunity for free advertisement. -- Spiderzed▋ 19:32, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
